Every magnetic tape for an IBM mainframe had 123199 as the code to never expire.  That, in itself would have created a shit load of chaos if it hadn't been fixed.  There was actually more damage caused testing Y2K fixes than happened on 01/01/2000, but only because billions of dollars were invested to fix vulnerabilities.  Rest assured, it was a real issue. It did create a whole industry in India of COBOL programmers.

See Barfly's post. He knows what he's talking about.

It was a load of BS.

It's Los Angeles, half the population is estranged from their families.

I'm a programmer and I spent many hours fixing Y2K bugs, but I still think it was overblown.  Software fails every day and life goes on.

Noorynoid

I made pretty good cash off of that, and you are correct, everybody in IT two years prior knew it was bogus, however profitable.

Yeah, exactly what I was told by my computer buddies. They made a good deal of money as well. I have no ill-will towards those who profited from stupidity. The blame falls with the stupid.

flow in his torsion field to find Art.😁

I used the Torsion Field to end this call. You're welcome

Donald Noory

I wish Hoaxland would take DMT one night during his show. That would be great.
