In Spain, the "z", "ce", and "ci" are pronounced with a "th" sound.  Examples: cebolla (onion) is pronounced "theboya", gracias (thanks)= grathias, zebra= thebra.

Those too. What you are saying, in effect, Maureen, is that certain elements of a female nature on this thread are talking out of the back of their ignorant necks and not prepared to admit they are wrong.  ;)

In South Carolina, the "ing" is pronounced with the "in" sound. Examples: hunting is pronounced "huntin`", "drinking" = drinkin`

Used in a sentence: "I reckon Me and ol` Billy Joe might do some huntin` and drinkin` this here Tuesday.

No sweetie, she was agreeing with me.

George Noory must be from South Carolina.

We obviously have very different dictionaries if you think 'agreement' involves contradicting every statement you made.

Oh my God....I don't even know what to say anymore. Go back and re-read the last few posts.

Hmm....maybe we could all pitch in for an all expenses paid vacay for Snoory to South Carolina.

From an insular existence to a growing awareness of "other worlds", language is always the first to show the cultural changes!

;D Oh "pompous pomposity of snob-joy snores!" (laffin' at self!)

Well, that's a step in the right direction at least!  ;)

Do you ever listen to A Way with Words? It's my favorite show.

Thank you so much!! I love these sort of displays of quick wit and rapid repartee! I grew up listening to the BBC's My Word... and the Goon Show! Marked me for life!! .... that and a theatrical upbringing. Carry on!

At first the mistakes didn't bother me and I still don't care about it myself however I think it makes Art's show look bad.  I feel like Leo doesn't spend enough time producing his clips.  It's very amateurish.  I feel like he needs to slow down and review his pieces before he sends them in.

Exactly and exactly.

Lord Grantham

Repeatedly calling a Delta V rocket a shuttle. Straight up garbage.

And don't get me started on the "corespondents" using internet handles as names. "Kingslayer"? Is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau providing reports?

Waco Kid

The thought I keep having is "Hey, Leo -- if you're not sure how to pronounce something, wouldn't it make more sense to go find out, rather than just take a stab at it?"

RE: editing... yes, as an audio engineer/voice-over artist/former radio guy, I can tell you that when he's recording, he's doing mid-sentence pick-ups (re-takes), which is the completely wrong way to do it. You can edit mid-sentence, but you have to start the pick-up way further back, so that the flow and intonation is natural and correct. And sensical. He's got all these weird intonations coming out of nowhere. This is why.

And if I hear that little Wink Martindale chuckle of his going out of one more cast, I may have to bitch slap someone. Anyone.

That voodoo "story" hurt my brain. Incoherent message board posts as radio.

zeebo

I don't know if this was the first time I heard this, but Leo said the audience can write in with their own stories?  I'm not sure how I feel about that as a valid method of news research.  But screw it, I wanna be part of all this somehow, so maybe I'll send something in.  :D

(Breathy voice) Hiiii, I'm Aimee, and I'm here to sex you up, I mean read the news like I am about to make my O face.

Really?! Now on top of having to deal with Leo we will also have Amy or whatever her name is doing a porn version of reading the news? Just read the damn news already without the cheesy gimmicks.

I find your attitude frivolous, sir.

Thank you for your insight. I usually listen on headphones, which makes it sound even more bizarre. The lack of natural pauses is very disturbing, as all the words seem to fall over each other and turn into a word soup that nobody can understand. It's as though he has this idea in his head that there is a 'right way' to do these segments, but nobody has had the balls to tell him that it is totally fucked-up. Quite why Art hasn't had a word by now is something I can't understand. It's all so glaringly amateurish and sub-par that it gives a slight air of ham-fisted shittiness to the whole production.

SredniVashtar

This guy makes Noory sound like Orson Welles. Just listening to the Weatherly episode. First of all, Amy sounds like a hostage reading out a ransom note, and then we get Leo to show us how it's done. At about 01:11.05, he says, "the deer got parp parp fencing". Fucked up beyond all human help or reason.

Repeated transgression: "accrost" for "across."

Last week, when referring to an eclipse: "umbrella" for "umbra." [face palm] I kid you not.

I just have always assumed "Leo" was a computer-generated voice algorithm.

Noticed Ashcraft mistaking "wide girth" for "wide berth" and choosing to say the wrong definition/pronunciation of "Live", as in to remain alive or be in person, while stating "livestrong.com"

I caught those also. Though I think the newer software version will handle this better in the future. In a way though "Leo's" bumbling and computer-generated speech reminds me of Dave's awfulness with pronunciation, grammar, etc and makes me laugh and appreciate even more that we have Art back.

You must be either a glass half-full kind of guy, or terrifyingly insane. If this man gets any worse he will merit his own 'Leo Ashcraft Sucks' Website.

Maybe he is Noory's son and the fumblegums apple doesn't fall far from the fumblegums tree.
