Or perhaps you are simply a bloviating, pompously pedantic asshat, that just has to get in the last word. Thanks, I haven't laughed so hard in days.

(and 1... 2... 3...)
Hey, you looked up some words, too!  Good for you!  I knew you could do it (even if you didn't).  You should learn a few more and then get together with the lady and form a Scrabble team.  I'm so proud of you!  You defied the odds, and not look at you!  Gold star!  Well done!   ;D

Again you assume; stop it at once! You make yourself look silly.

Oh I don't think you're baiting (Incidentally, when you quote to your classes, do you show all the thread, including your posts?), I think you effect a level of superiority that you don't merit. You teach young people (who's brain hasn't yet fully developed- the part that reasons!) how to argue? Really? What practical skills do you possess? Other than perhaps driving or switching on your laptop?
And she still hasn't answered her own question, haha!  Don't ever change, lady -- you're a hoot.  You're a peach!

Heading to bed now.  That'll give you a whole seven or eight hours to come up with something to post.  I think you can do it.  I have faith in you!  I'm sure without the distraction of actually having someone to talk to, you'll be able to come up with something ingenious.   I mean, that is the stumbling block, right?  Good luck!  Don't strain yourself too hard.  And just remember, none of it changes anything.   ;D

Yeah. All hat and no cattle. He can't prove anything so he resorted to attacking me again. Boring.
Wow, you must have a real persecution complex to believe you were attacked.  Why is that?  What is it that makes you feel inferior?  I was just trying to help you, the way someone rich tries to help someone poor, or someone with an education tries to help someone without.  I offered you words to learn so you can sound more learned and intelligent than using the same words again and again, like "jealous," or finding things more poignant to say than "twat waffle."  This can only make you better.  Don't you want to be better?  Don't you take pity on those who have less, too?  ;D

Wasn't this your appeal to authority? If the argument is "you know a lot about arguing" your presented the above as evidence,  without specifically stating publications, awards, etc. in the field of argumentation. Another expert in arguing may say that you don't know a lot about arguing. It's possible you teach argumentation but are an expert on DeMorgan's Laws. Without clear evidence it is possible that an appeal to authority informal fallacy does exist.
" But where a proposition is claimed to be literally true on the basis of its assertion by an "authority" whose competence lies in a different field, we have a fallacy of  argumentum ad verecundiam." (Introduction to Logic, Copi page 95).

Followed by this ad baculum, where the threat is ridicule in front of an audience.

"The lobbyist uses the ad baculum when he reminds a representative that he (the lobbyist) represents so many thousands of voters in the representative's constituency, or so many potential contributors to campaign funds. Logically these considerations have nothing to do with the merits of the legislation the lobbyist is attempting to influence. But they may be, unfortunately, very persuasive." (Copi, page 88)
What?  You need to go back and read the context for any such statements.  You're cherry picking things and also don't seem to have a grasp on what an appeal to authority argument is.  Good luck with that.  ;D

It's getting your knickers in a wad isn't it? Nothing more frustrating than arguing with someone who won't argue eh?  ;D ;D
Not at all.  All you're doing is illustrating what happens when someone has nothing to say -- not even when they asked the question in the first place.  ;D

Seriously, what do you think (sorry for using that word) I'm doing except baiting to get such responses?  Nothing serves as a better example for classes.  ;D

You may have heard of them. Ask your students.
Still not answering the question, lady.  Come on.  It's not that tough. Just pick a benchmark so we can see who's right down the line.  You can do that.  Show us some more of your high-power reasoning.  ;D

You're in education? Teaching? You teach thinking? As in indoctrination?

Does your average tutorial go along the lines of "This is what I think; it's correct. The end"
Keep dodging.  Post after post after post, and you still can't answer the question.  It's not that complicated -- you asked it originally.   ;D

Well, in your head sure. I'm not sure you're correct in that assertion though.

You silly boy; I'm playing with you, lighten up.

Why don't you put yourself forward for the gig then? You have all the answers; you seem to be able to tell everyone on this thread how much more everything you are. Surely broadcasting isn't a reach for your exemplary skill set?
Haha, so once again, you're dodging stating what you believe is the measure of success.  You asked me.  I answered.  I asked you.  You shrink from the discussion.

Silly girl, I'll get a radio gig when you get a doctorate and a tenured faculty position somewhere to teach anything remotely resembling thinking and reasoning. When that happens, I guess we'll both be qualified to offer our opinions.  ;D

Not at all.  All I've done is respond.  So, how about dealing with some of the questions posed to you?  What are you afraid of?  Having no answer?  You don't need to be afraid of that -- you've demonstrated that ably already.  ;D

That is your measure? Dear me.. Here's an analogy..Olympic 100 metres champion who trains every day most of the day for the last three years against a club runner who has been running six months..I wonder who might be favourite?

But what about in two or three years?
Two or three years what?  I gave you a clear, detailed answer -- that's the best you have?  Seriously?

Midnight in the Desert isn't going to be on the air in two or three years with her at the helm.  It will be lucky to last two or three weeks unless there is a significant change.

You're (see what I did there?) doing it again. You assume (assumption is the mother of all fuck ups) you're more intelligent than others. When in fact you merely disagree with their argument.
How is stating a fact making such an assumption . . . unless somehow facts threaten you?  Are you threatened by facts?  Is that it?  Do they make things tougher for you?  It's okay.  It's just a message board.  You don't have to feel insecure about these things.  Just focus more on the distinction between fact and opinion.  You can do it.  I am rooting for you!   ;D

How were you attacked?  Just trying to help you.  Wow, pretty defensive when someone is just trying to help you.  Why so sensitive?  You don't need to feel insecure or anything about it -- now you have another word to use and can even look up the meaning if you want.   ;D

That on her own, she will still be on the air and with the same ratings with Midnight in the Desert in three months, the same amount of time and quality that Art brought to the program.  What's yours?

I know.  I feel the same way when people throw around name calling instead of reasoning or even common sense.  I think about it all day and all night long, without reprieve, because what they think and say is so important and meaningful to, well, everything.  I know they are important in their personal and professional lives, too, and people who give orders and make things happen as opposed to those who just take orders and lope along without much meaning or purpose.  That makes it hurt, too.   It's tough, but we somehow make it through.

You're appealing to authority here, or it's just your opinion? You always have an off switch.

Indeed, but there are instances in entertainment history where niche and not widely known individuals/ shows are received into the mainstream and it's seen as brilliance. The same goes in reverse too. Kings new clothes syndrome.

If Heather makes 'a show' her own and builds her audience then power to her. The entertainment industry is shallow, fickle, and full of 'could haves'. Once in a while a beacon shines out; I'd suggest Steve Warner is one of those lights; Heather could well be another.
Not at all.  Seriously, did you not learn about such things in school?  An appeal to authority is when someone says an idea is correct based merely on the authority of the person making the claim -- that because the President says it's a good idea, it must be so, for instance.  It's the same fallacy as the personal attack that's so popular around here, except instead of refuting the idea because of who said it, it's about accepting the idea simply because of who said it.

An appeal to authority would be like saying Heather's great simply because Art Bell thinks so, regardless of her actual ability.

People's individual opinions about whether or not she is good, and their supporting points within the limit of assessment -- the quality of her voice, her ability to converse, the depth of her questions and responses, and so forth -- are simply their assessment.  They don't rely on Art's or anyone else's opinion to make the claim.
