"Social media posts stating “clown activity” in the area around Wright Brothers Middle School in Dayton caused enough concern that school security officials initiated a partial lockdown of the school and a one-call to parents of students.
Dayton Public Schools spokeswoman Jill Moberly said “verified social media posts of clown activity” lead to the decision to secure the school. She said no sightings of clowns in the area actually occurred. She would not give detail about what the social media posts stated regarding clown activity."

HOUSTON - Westside High School parents received a letter Friday morning after a threat was made against the school on a Facebook page used by a group called "Aint Clownin Around."

The threat was posted Thursday on a page that has since been deactivated. It threatened that the group would be at schools Friday to either kidnap students, or kill teachers going to their cars.

LOL.  I have that film.  I watched it for the first time and I thought it was the silliest thing I ever saw.  Lots of fun but silly.

Have you seen Bobcat Goldthwait's epic "Shakes the Clown" (1991?) At first I didn't even want to watch, I think I related this story before, after a canoeing trip I was waking up on the couch hung-over and figuring out what VHS tape to put on (in country so no cable or tv) and my friend came down and said "you gotta watch this." I was against but he insisted and I was hung-over and just said whatever. Then it became one of my favorite movies to watch out there, hung-over or getting over one with a morning beer before heading out to the river. There are cameos by Robin Williams and features many other stand-up comedians. It is bizarre and funny. And funny because bizarre (conflicts between different types of clowns.)

I was unaware of the dangerous clown threat until I received an automated call from my son's school this afternoon. Apparently, my school district has been monitoring social media, has been investigating the situation and has determined there is no threat at this time. They will however, keep investigating and keep us informed of any changes regarding the situation.
