Radio and Podcasts / Re: Midnight In The Desert

No show tonight.  "Sounds like" they're coming back strong on Monday according to Nathan.  Poor guy trying to encourage people to subscribe to the show.

By the way, what show is playing on the MITD site?  It's not MITD.
Ediot: Now MITD is playing.

I could care less if the Earth is round or flat.

It can be both.  Do flat-earthers contend it's square?

https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2019/06/monarch-butterflies-raised-captivity-don-t-migrate

I had heard something of this a few weeks back or so.  While I can see the appeal of "raising" them, it might not be in their best interests.  Though I acknowledge, we are talking about butterflies.  If you have milkweed, they will come.

I  saw on some documentary that when they migrate from eastern Canada they take  a detour somewhere in the Great Lakes region.  It's apparently a genetic memory of a mountain that existed ages ago,

The meteor explosion discussion has been an aside in this Biblical/theological buffet.  Not a bad show, but anyone expecting a show centered on what was advertised has been woefully misled.

Zeebo.  I filed a missing persons report with the authorities, and they have compiled a persons of interest list.  If you see these individuals, let them know they are wanted for questioning.

lol the 2nd guest is a New Age woo peddler. Jorch pulls this same trick all the time with these types, the guest will lay out some deep profound thought about humanity and divinity - Jorch pauses for a few seconds and he usually leads with something like 'I've always said/thought/believed ....' and then he completes it with the exact same bullshit the guest just said as if it was his own long well thought out idea.

Had Jorch had Einstein on as a guest while he was working on his theory of general relativity it would have gone something like this.

Jorch: So what's neeeeeeeew with yeeeeeew Albert? It's been 4 years since you were last on the show can you believe it?

Einstein: I suppose so Mr. Norry but I lose track of time when I am working, I have been very consumed lately with new work.

Jorch: Oh have you discovered something new since special relativity?

Einstein: I think so, I am working on a more general theory of relativity. I am coming to believe that gravity is a curvature of space-time, the equations I am working on now.

Jorch: You know I've always thought that gravity was bending space.

haha this guest is good at this crap at least, Jorch doesn't have a spiritual bone is his body but when he has one of these guests he tries so hard to sound deep. So he tells the guest with his 3rd grader intellect 'I think Satan exists to test human beings'  The guest takes issue with this 'Why would God want to 'test' us, for what reason?' Of course Jorch is totally incapable of providing an answer other than 'that's just what I think'.

Of course Jorch would have to lead Einstein with "Imagine if you had a computer!"

It is bad, but Jorch has become Lisa Garr with a mustache.  It seems every other night there is some guest talking about higher consciousness, dreams, mystical healing, angels, astrology, etc.  I can't say I believe much of anything I hear on the show, but I'm much more a "meat and potatoes" BS guy myself.  Give me the Bigfoot/dogman/cryptid, UFO, and ghost/demon stuff.  Of course most guests talking about those topics aren't all that captivating either, and Jorch does his level best it seems to make them a chore to listen to.

Probably Tunisia- though he really hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt.

Nice to know that Knapp is still around a couple times a month.  I've gotten over Corbell's voice for the most part, but it used to grate on me.

LOL.  I can see Jorch behind the wheel of the Weinermobile, cruising the streets for hot dates and turkee sammiches. Tommee would be straddling the weiner, of course.

Nah. Tom's the driver of the lead vehicle.

I'm hoping FTF (nice to see ya again BTW) is right on this, but I'm having trouble not agreeing more with Uncle Duke.  This is the same country that forcefully harvests organs from perceived enemies of the state.  Granted, that doesn't seem to garner much media attention- certainly nowhere near the extent of the Hong Kong situation.

I  happened to wake up in time this past morning to hear Edgar Allan Schmoe's "Tell-Tale Heart".  I thought that probably meant he was off tonight, so it's a net positive.  It's incredible how much he extracts from so little input.  He always has between 12-15 minutes of breaks every half hour, so he only really has to conduct an interview- should you choose to call it that- roughly two hours nightly.  And he always takes the last half hour of the week off.  I really need to seek out his agent.

Edit:  I should have said moderate a conversation instead of conduct an interview, because nearly half his time with each guest is used for calls.  George really does come off as a likeable enough guy and all, and the kind of guy you want to enjoy listening to.  I remember last year someone was cheering for Noory to get inducted into the radio hall of fame.  For as likeable as he may be, that would be an all-time joke.

Riveting radio- some huckster pretending to communicate with passed souls and relaying it to the dupes calling in.  George tried to hurry the huckster after the first call, saying the phone lines were filled.  So concerned was George for his callers that the first call taken in the last half hour was a few seconds before 4:47.

What a talentless hack her guest was. Painful listening. ::) ::)

Ha.  You're more daring than I.  I simply saw the post brig made and knew at that point it was a no-go.  I actually listened to Hoagland's show for a bit, and it was actually a good episode I thought.  Though he has his own version of Lisa Garr- some woo chick cohost I'm assuming.

I'm actually looking forward to Jimmy tonight, as I feared it might be Chuckles the Bigfoot Whisperer instead.

That's it- no more months off for Syrett.

Noory's first question of the night:  "So Ralph, why didn't you like the Corvette?"
#48
When you insist on having two guests appear on a three hour show, there's little option but to rush through it.

I remember Art recounting the time he and Ramona (I believe) witnessed the black triangle hovering over their vehicle.  Jorch claims to have experienced an astral travel as a kid.

I wonder if Giggles will ever shut up about her B.S. "experience".

Someone should call in to the good doc Monday and ask what supplements/minerals will help one's attention span, drive one to be intellectually curious, and help suppress the urge to giggle needlessly.  Then before hanging up, ask "Got that Jorch and Connie?"

Radio and Podcasts / Re: Ian Punnett

For as long as I remember hearing him, Ian has struggled to get to the point when asking questions.  Is it just me, or is it worse now than ever?  I'm guesstimating 10 minutes of total airtime are consumed occasionally by him stuttering and stammering while setting up questions.  He has a sharp mind- one his mouth apparently cannot keep pace with.  I wonder if this may to some degree be an effect of tinnitus.

Also, it would be nice if he could delve into the paranormal occasionally.  The Enfield episode aside, he rarely does a show within that realm.

Syrett gone from Coast until September. I fear that means more of 'hyuk hyuk Connie hyuk hyuk how yall doin hyuk hyuk sasquatch lovin hyuk hyuk Willis'.

Afraid you might be right.  Or perhaps we may be treated to even more candles and incense with extra Lisa Garr appearances.  The best we can hope for is NPR Ian or the Elvis impersonator.

You're complaining about it?

QuoteShould I be concerned I'm starting to miss Jimmy Church?  What's the deal with him anyway?

Well crap, I had to open my big mouth...err fingers.  I honestly had no idea that Church was going to host tonight.  Where's Knapp?  On the bright side, every show Church hosts is one that Willis, Noory, or Garr isn't.

I'm sure they will also cover the large number of people bilked out of their life saving by hucksters pushing bullshit treatments on desperate cancer victims.

Perhaps it's an indictment on conventional cancer treatments that people are willing to be bilked out of their life savings.  And the conventional way probably isn't cheap either.

Turning course, Stephen Cohen is one of my favorite guests these days.

Syrett's open lines calls last night were a hoot.

That story the caller told about seeing the person standing on the wall, while facing the floor, was quite memorable.
#58
The story the guest told about the woman seeing the blue pick-up with her ~30 year old grandfather during her NDE was told by a caller on one of the shows this past week if I remember correctly.  Don't remember if it was Coast or MITD.

Walton with a strong finish managed to get in three minutes of airtime in the opening segment.
#60
Travis Walton is the guest on tonight's show.  Sounds like a potentially good show- then you read who the host is.  Ms. Giggles herself, Connie Willis, will be the conductor of this cacophonous cavalcade of constipation.  The show description mentions Connie seeing something in the sky last month on her Rockies adventure, so we'll be treated to her trying to one-up Travis.  That guy will be longing for an abduction after the first hour.
