Hopefully we hear from Shauna again, she was quite pleasant. I think I've got a radio crush (other than Redacted, I mean.). Still blown away that two shows in a row you've had people who were unfamiliar with Bellgab call up, this podcast about a forum about a show that no longer exists but may again in the near future is going places.

Dont worry, she will call again. I brought like 8 people in there last night that never heard of it,  but she was the only one that called.   But according to her, her membership was approved on here and she said it was fun as hell to talk to you guys.

I actually did very little convincing to get people addicted to his show. I just played it in the chat room one night while i was working and they came in asking what it was.  And their ages range from 19-24, never heard of AB, and are still intrigued enough to have stayed the whole 2 hours last night :)      Still plenty of magic left.

What I think happened with Dave is 1. He can not deal with anything unexpected so they stopped most open lines. 2. He is unable to deal with any technical topics so they limited his exposure to those and played it safe. I could go on but I will not. My point is when you have to become that careful you also remove what made the show a adventure to listen to. Now you pretty much know where it is going or put another way where it can not go.
Art

Nailed it.  As well as your post about telling him to "make it his own". Advice he clearly ignored.  Nailed that as well.    Everything felt so tacked on with his mug all over it.  I know first hand with people from the History channel what kinda person he is.  Ive edited for/with people that have worked with him personally.    I will offer every service in my arsenal to promote your program free of charge.  videos, animations,  sound mixing, anything.     I dont think he anticipates so many professionals in their field willing to help you.      If he thinks that takedown requests and making things seem uphill to you is gonna somehow make you appear alone in this, he's sorely mistaken.    I've been away from the forum for a while.  It was  only after i was reminded that the time is getting near, to start coming back here. And much to my surprise to see you active on here more than ever!    I even brought 8 new listeners to your program as well as this cast tonight who were instantly hooked on the whole AB world.    I got your back man.   Been a huge fan since 1995.

I just did something pretty interesting with the google's web speech api and an mp3.   Trying Dragon just for the hell of it.

It actually understood noory a little bit.   Check it out. nooryVSgooglewebvoiceapi

Then I'd imagine after it learns noory enough, one could just run searches in the text itself for prime cuts! :)

Another thing I loved about Art was that he would be happy for a guest to hawk his wares but would never accept "it's in my book" as an answer.

I remember one Guest he had where he did actually try and use that line. He used it on someone who called in who was disagreeing with all of the stuff he was saying.  And when he tried to usher him back to purchase his book, the caller was all "I am not gonna buy your book"  Damn, I wish I can remember the guest name.  But it was the only time I've ever heard him blatantly dodge a question by recommending buying his book.  Art put an end to that shit pretty quick.

So there were 3 JC's in total? Or were people saying it was UFOPhil?  Wasn't there a clip where he called and actually talked to Phil?

Sounds like the one that kept calling Noory was bullshit.

This looks like it goes beyond typical post-production stabilization, the cheapest of which simply zooms in and more or less "rotoscopes" against the shake of the camera.

Instead, it's actually patching together pieces of source frames. I would assume that there might be a limit to how much one can speed up using hyperlapse. Because if it's too slow, there may not be enough source material. But too fast, and things would change too quickly to patch together relevant frames.

The rock climbing demo is a telling video, technically-speaking. Watching how the edges change shows another limitation. Still, this is a developing technique. Looks pretty cool!

Yeah it looks like something that's definitely gonna take some time to render.

Technical Video

I guess they plan on releasing it as a windows app.

Maybe with some magic bullet filters and blurry vignettes to cover up the ugly edges, it could pull off some cool stuff with all those crazy gopro videos when Youtube starts allowing 60fps.     But you're right, with some time and programs like twixtor, rotoscoping and a bit of zooming, one could do this.  Probably in the same amount of time it would take to render the Hyperlapse plugin to begin with.

I wish it was out now.
This is about the time of year I am sent a lot of Burning Man footage to chop up. And I was thinking how cool it would be to be able to apply something like this to some of that stuff.  Especially all the drone/bike riding footage.

Hey, not sure if anyone else here really does any filming or editing.  Thought I would share this.   Looks to be pretty interesting for timelapse stabilization.

I dont think you need to worry about how they do their show. They were doing it fine before you came along.

Im sure your suggestions are truly valued. However, the listeners are happy for the most part.  With the exception of 2 or 3. And who really cares about them?  Their core audience is still there.

ps. My worst fear is that that would turn it into the "Spec goatsee Sheet"

And you just blew the Fall format reveal!!! thx !

::edit:: not as bitchy as its typed out to be. Just saying the show is fine the way it is. So dont blow a gasket.

Trying to explain Bluetooth to my foreign born grandmother and attempt for her not to imagine someone having blue teeth.
Grandparents are lucky to be able to walk as far away from their blueteeth as they want. I might just throw this thing in a cup of Efferdent too.

Oh and I nominate all of you guys to do the Ice Bucket Challenge. At the very least MV so we can see him in his speedos. You have 24 hours.

I am almost shocked there is no headline yet like "teen hospitalized for hypothermia from Ice Bucket Challenge" And then the ALS will have to donate money to him.

MV in speedos ?   The ice doesn't stand a chance.  Youll need like "The Dry-Ice Bucket" Challenge.

Uh, you DO know that the webm format is exclusively for gay pr0n....right?

Then I must have bought a monitor that transcodes it back to straight porn again. That explains the pixels.

Have to bring this up on the next spec sheet.

Gosh, why would you think Bert would know about something like that?

I was just wondering if one has been started or not. Or if the place even supported it.  Wasn't suggesting he knew or didn't know about it.

Figured he's a dude who likes to post funny ass gifs.  Just wondered if he posted webm clips or not.

Fun size.

At least you didnt use "bite sized"

And 'needledick' only has a ring to it when a quarterback is yelling it at you over and over.

Youtube has disappointed me by not having a clip of that readily available.

Unrelated note: Bart, have you thought of starting a webm thread? or does this forum not support that?

Recently, it would have to be Tim and Eric.  I also heard they are having a new show this September.

Also there were alot of "guilty pleasure" movies from the 90s I always had on the DVR.  Movies that were soooo bad, they were entertaining.   Shit like BIODOME
