A year after Amanda Berry disappeared in Cleveland, her mother appeared on "The Montel Williams Show" to speak to a psychic about what happened to her daughter.
Psychic Sylvia Browne, who has made a career of televised psychic readings, told Louwanna Miller on a 2004 episode of the show that her daughter was dead, causing Miller to break down in tears on the show's set.
"She's not alive, honey," Browne told Miller on the show, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper. "Your daughter's not the kind who wouldn't call."
Miller told the newspaper that she believed "98 percent" in what Browne told her. Miller died a year later from heart failure.

She's no better (or worse) than any of the snake oil sales people who gladly take the money, promise much (or just plain bollox) and thrive on the misery, insecurities and gullibility of others. These people are wicked. They're almost as wicked as the filth that do the initial crime, because they know they're compounding the pain. As many have said, this woman has no shame, no compassion or humility for anyone. She certainly has no self respect. Much is made about the criminality of prostitution, but at least those who sell their bodies are honest about what they do.


I just hope these three women and the little girl will recover from their ordeal..It may take time, but I hope they get there. This Sylvia Browne (Browne being the pseudonym for shit?) will n doubt be seeing some sort of kudos in her being actually mentioned in the press, because she'll love the oxygen, no matter how damaging.

With regards to Ms. Browne, what has always perplexed me the most is how she conned/coaxed/bribed/__(fill in blank)__, Montel Williams. I had (still do, for the most part) tremendous respect for Montel. He`s one of the most sincere, intelligent and talented people I`ve ever met.

There's actually a website called Stop Sylvia Browne. She has a long, shady history. I'm glad that Noory finally pulled the plug on her.

My ex-boyfriend drives a limo and has met a number of famous people, including Sylvia Browne. Although his opinions of people are colored some by how well they tip, he did say she's quite unpleasant. I don't know how she tips.

Psychics, remote viewers, etc. like to brag about law enforcement approaching them for help solving cases. Generally I think it's the other way around--they go to law enforcement offering their help, which may or may not be accepted.

Peter Hurkos was brought in on the Boston strangler case, don't remember who approached whom, but I think that a lot of people got the idea that this sort of thing is more common than it is.

I haven't validated this, but on Darkness Radio (yesterday I think), they said that she predicted that she'd die at 88.  Now of course, she died at 77 so she probably just misinterpreted the spirits.

Ok, so, my roommate's boyfriend worked her show once. Apparently, she repeated the same answers to both crowds (she was there for two nights) and when someone insisted the dog she was describing looked nothing like their deceased dog, she declared that that must be a spirit companion, because she is clearly seeing that dog associated with that person, and she wasn't mistaken by the dog's description. She also would apparently insist that people were confused about the facts she was giving them, rather than her being wrong about the facts the "spirits" were giving her.

So, obviously that means we heard her wrong. Or she had an 88 year old spirit attached to her, which is how she got that number.
