Aren't some of those grandfathered via "curio" laws? Or maybe he held Class III but I guess not considering the raid. Still one anonymous caller results in this kind of raid? Highly suspect, if true. It could be the call lead to deeper investigation and surveillance that THEN resulted in a warrant a raid/seizure. Though I still have some problems with an anonymous caller starting the process, if that is indeed what happened. Also, isn't there some kind of "ex post facto" protection via Article 1, Section 9 Constitutionally if some of his collection was deemed illegal after his initial possession/purchase?

California does not allow ownership of full auto for citizens as well as a few other liberal states. I am not sure on how the grandfathering of non full auto "assault weapons" worked in California. But California did allow new AR15 ownership through legal loopholes, like having a permanently attached 10 round magazine and no pistol grip. All of which was easy to unfuck after buying it and was very easy to do.

example of ways you could neuter your "assault weapon" and be legal

How do you load rounds into a "permanently attached magazine"?  Through the ejection port with the bolt carrier group locked in the open chamber position, or what?

On an AR15 you press out the rear take down pin fold barrel down and put round into the mag from the top.

What kind of guns are these where they wear th eammo around their necks?  Does the ammo feed in like thread on a bobbin in a sewing machine?

And what's that pointy Tiffany-blue thing?

Looks like a Russian PKM they are belt fed and the rounds are held together with a belt you can buy here https://ammunitionstore.com/products/7-62x54r-ammo-belt-pkm-machine-gun-100-round.html

How long have these belt fed guns existed?  Good if you need to kill a pack of wolves.  Googling U.S. wolf attacks very an eye opener.  I guess many people, mostly men, have lived to kill 10 or 12 wolves, only to be killed by the 11th or 13th one.  Unbelievable.  Kind of makes you appreciate guns, especially since the wolf population is rising.  I guess coyotes packing aren't always casual, either.  And now they are interbred!  So God only knows what you get.

Around 0:59 it looks fake because the ammo belt isn't moving.

Weird how some of these types of guns have fire coming out, but other just smoke.

The gun is not even firing and the guy is clearing a jam

It's a caliber/barrel length thing. The PKM fires a full size cartage 7.62x54r there is a lot of powder in it. The 7.62x54r was originally made for the Mosin Nagant bolt action rife with a 30" barrel. The PKM has about a 25" barrel but the barrels in the video are shorter than that probably around 20".

So when the round goes off and the powder is continuing to burn after the bullet leaves the barrel and you get a lot of flash. If it was being shot out of a longer barrel most of the powder would be burnt before the bullet left the barrel producing much less of a flash. Some guns like AK's and AR's have flash hiders that create turbulence of the gasses leaving the barrel to cut down on the flash.

An AR15 chambered in 5.56 (smaller intermediate cartridge) with a 16" barrel is going to flash without a flash hider. But an AR15 chambered is 9mm (dinky pistol cartridge) will not flash at all even without a flash hider. Because all of the powder has been burnt before the bullet exits the end of the barrel.

Size comparison, 9mm is smaller than the .40S&W in the picture

The Obrez is a Mosin Nagant rifle chambered in 7.62x54r with the barrel cut off to about 6"

My God!  My M-N carbine is a serious shoulder thumper, I can not imagine what the recoil on a cut down version like the Obrez must be.

QuoteTuolumne County, California â€" Deputies with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) were called out to Deadman’s Campground in Stanislaus National Forrest to a report of a possible shooting at around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning.

When they arrived, deputies found a man dead inside the tent of a couple who said they have no idea who he is. The man was shot after he entered the couple’s tent at around 2 a.m. The woman awakened with the strange 36-year-old man from Watsonville on top of her.

Some guests on "Beyond the Beltway" right now is talking about needing a mental health check to buy a gun. Others point out of the potential problems with this:

1) privacy of medical records and what doctors are "certified" to say that the person is not mentally ill? Any liability on them if they are wrong? What if "mental health" changes in a person later?

2) which mental illnesses to include (a large minority of the population at some time in their lives have been treated for something, went to a counselor, went to marriage counseling, gotten a prescription for a problem, etc)

3) "is racism" a mental illness? Is "xenophobia" a mental illness? Is "homophobia" a mental illness? Is religion, depending on kind, depth, practice, a "mental illness?" There already have been some who claim "yes" and that "conservative thinking" is a mental illness even.

4) if the natural rights enshrined in our 2nd Amendment is limited to only those without a mental illness why not include other natural rights like speech, assembly, freedom of religion, right to not testify against yourself, etc? Where does this stop?

RAND says "inconclusive" or "no studies met criteria" but Legislators, in their wisdom, apparently are trying to enact a "Red Flag Law" on a national level.

One does wonder what the goals really were? Hammering the farmers? Going after guns? Refusing to secure the border or do anything on immigration? How is that going to help him get reelected? Especially from his supposed "base?"

re: Guns, notice how the media keeps promoting mass shootings, naming names, etc even though they KNOW doing so increases the chance for copycats. Because the agenda (anti-Gun, anti-USA, etc) outweighs their concern for victims or the country.

What sort of long-rifle is Rusty Mantooth holding there?  Does he have a AR-15 or an M-16?  Can't zoome into the pic enough to resolve what is going on with the fire selector...

The worst kind. Its obviously one of those ghost guns that can literally probably shoot 1000 clips per second. Put a wood stock on it and it’s fine.

Rusty's wifey in the background certainly looks non-plussed about something.  Maybe it's the configuration of that weapon, it does look funny...

Hope they aren't having marital problems...
