The listener photos o the c2c site are just an embarrassment. the used to be, for he most part, interesting, pretty, funny, SOMETHING.  Now, they are scraping the bottom of the shit-house hole. Last night, the "potato chip that looks like an angel" really just ticked me off.  IT LOOKED LIKE A POTATO CHIP THAT GOT CREASED IN THE FRYING PROCESS!  There is at least on in ever bag.

So, after a beer or two - I booted up one of two of my graphics programs - and went at it.  Deliberately as tacky and overblown as George himself.

We have:

George as the alien, demonic, potato chip angel.  We are viewing him though a portal on a spaceship  -- as he rises up out of another kind of portal, on that magic future planet of his, made of the precious metals he loves to hawk.

On the left is that cat he had but never owned. (which, if you know cats, is actually possible but I digress)  In the precious metal ooze of his planet are starving "children" (since you can't eat silver or gold) snapping at the crumbs that fall from his angelic body. On the right is the tree of knowledge - good, evil - whatever - but there is no fear of George getting expelled from this alien Eden - he avoids knowledge of any kind. Magical orbs also bubble out of this molten metal portal - but we're not sure what they are.  Could be bugs - could be dust - could be ENTITIES! Also - there is a pigeon who just poops on all his listeners - those who don;t know any better - and those of us who listen hoping for a miraculous moment of - at least - entertainment.

And, on THIS planet - it is the sun that has a automatically refilling creamy center - their version of abiotic oil - and it pours this infinite supply of fuel down on George and his subjets.

That's it - I'm sure I've forgotten a few important things - but even BAD digital art takes time.

Okay guys - in general, I don't have any real problem with the topics here. (Well, the first one -- errrr . .  never mind)  It's the public quality of them - and  - in each case - a weirdness to the specific case that is just so over-the-top!

Archive of Old Threads / No Contest

Too late, I heard about a photoshop contest with the theme "disturbing religious icons"

Well, I still found the theme impossible to resist. This isn't exactly an ICON - but it uses religious imagery to be disturbing.  Close enough?

Now, I have to also say that I find the web's increasing ability to read imagery exciting and disturbing at the same time.   I used a free host for this - and the original title was simply reldistsmall.png.  I used NO tags, NO description, NADA - zip!

Yet - one second after the image appeared as completely uploaded, I got a Google ad that read: "A Guide to Christian Apologetics"

Coincidence?  Damned stange one if so!

"Spirit" is in quotes because I think there is a better word - I just don't  know what it is.

We've all heard the theories on how the classic NDE (tunnels - white lights and so on) are neurological reactions of a dying brain.  But, the question of how the person who had the NDE could report on events that occurred while they were clinically dead was a sticking point usually explained away by comment like "oh, someone was talking about it as they "came back" - and they hallucinated the visual" or some such . .   The dying brain misfire makes sense to me - the memory explanation seems lame - but as every one of these reports in anecdotal -there really isn't any way to prove it.

NPR's All Things Considered reported on another perspective.  I don't find it particularly satisfying either - but at least it's not the same old same old.  This link will take you to both a print story and a 10 minute stream of the original report:  Decoding The Mystery Of Near-Death Experiences

As most of you know -
I spend most of my day working - and playing - over a hot computer.  And DAMN but they can make your workspace hot!  Particularly in the summer. Turing on the AC for the whole apartment is often overkill.  And, some times of the year 4 - 7 pm is when the sun beats into my place with a vengeance.

SO!  I found a tiny desktop cooler.  All you do if freeze a one pint bottle of water - pop it in - and turn on the little fan.  There are similar models - but this one is hard to find.  It may not be made any more.  Evey place I looked only had ONE.  Other modles I saw were

1 - More expensive

2 - Either were actual air conditioners with the chemicals and heavy power use - or had a proprietary re-freezable insert - no options.

3 - had MUCH bigger footprints.

It's on its way!

You know - I've NO idea why people loved Malachi Martin so. To me, he was one of the creepiest old men on the planet. And, he said things that I felt were grotesquely unfair to some groups of people. I don't mean to imply that I ever wished the man ill - I just never got why he was such a big deal, particularly to Art.

Well - they've found his replacement (joy and rapture  :PBrother Michael Dimond   Like "Martin, Dimond is "Traditional Catholic" (think Mel Gibson) he focuses more on demons than goodness (creepy) professes insider knowledge of Vatican affairs (Traditionalist Catholics have been at odds the the Holy See since Vatican II) and thinks that "aliens" are really demons.

He also is a minor celebrity, living his own Blair Witch Project (is it real, or is it Memorex?)

All that said - I'm gonna listen anyway.  Hey - I also watch horror movies and read Stephen King!

We've heard of remote viewing, LSD trials, pheromone sprays that make "the enemy" irresistible to same sex comrades (to lower moral - since we all know there are no homosexuals in the military - shhhhh) on more - now, we have semi-cyborgs.

Haveto wonder if they consulted the damned Dames.

Has anyone here been in the military or known anyone in the military they trusted who actually experienced any of this stuff?

Radio and Podcasts / Such an ART Moment!
May 18, 2009, 12:33:21 AM
Art has this wonderful way of asking people "are you out of your fucking MIND!?"  And - it goes like this:

"Now -- I gotta ask you, Sir; was that smart?"

I just heard him say something like that - from the Philippines - clear as a Bell (pun intended)

It doesn't even matter what it was in response to - it's a classic question that stands on its own.

Archive of Old Threads / OT: Feedback Please
May 09, 2009, 09:03:05 PM
I'm working on a site for a tutoring program that is very "busy" - lots of beeps and whistles - so the screen shots will add a lot of visual "stuff" to the site.

I'm going for minimalist - and will do one more that will most likely be almost exclusively gray-scale. (the program is colorful too)

These are very low resolution, but hopefully you can get the idea.

Any thoughts?  (the text content is just a random place-holder for now)

If this worked as I intended - you can click to see a larger image.

You all likely know that unless the person who is looking at your electronic data has the font you used on their machine or network - they will see a replacement font.

You can, however, turn documents into images.

I made this handwritten font at http://www.yourfonts.com/  (I'm NOT an affiliate) and am using an image to give you a peek:

Archive of Old Threads / Who is STEVE?!
May 07, 2009, 07:46:59 PM
I'm listening to Somewhere in Time: Replay from 12/5/95-- Open Lines

Someone wrote in and mentioned a "Secret Steve Phenomenon"  He said  that he noticed Art had a strange tone in his voice whenever he was talking to someone named Steve, then asked if Art thought he'd ever be able to speak normally to anyone named Steve again.  (I'm writing this form memory - so I may not get it word-perfect.) The writer also said he had a lot of friends named Steve.

Art's reply was that his (Art's) Mother used to quote that old saw "birds of a feather" and so on.  And told the writer that if HE wanted to hang out with Steves - that was up to him - but maybe he better think about it.

Now, I know Art has a weird sense of humor sometimes - but this didn't' seem like a joke.  WTF?

1995 - hmmm . . .  Could "Steve" have been Art Jr.'s teacher that there was such a mess over?

This was an odd little soundbite.

Edit to add, From Wikipedia:

A later report announced that the reason that Bell had withdrawn from his station was a family trauma several years before, that his teen-age son had been sexually molested by an HIV-infected substitute teacher. There was an arrest and a trial of the rapist, Brian Lepley, was sentenced in May 1998 to life in prison. When Bell's son turned 18, his name was released and the story became public. The boy tests HIV-negative but psychologically, Bell said, "it slammed him into the ground."

You know every ap you install comes with a bunch of legal yaddah-yaddah. Most of us think it's SSDD - so we skim, at best.
