Huh, that was an interesting story.
Funny how things turn out...

Another version, still good, came on XM today, and while setting in traffic and I was singing it, then I figured I'd post the original for ya when I saw the thread go up a bit...

That's a good one!

Metron2267

Yeah it is, very Hank Williams in tone and twang! ;)

Course I still love the Commander:

One more version, featuring the Telecaster virtuoso Bill Kirchen, the original Cody guitarist and now an old but rockin' man:

It's nice and all but I always feel like I'm going to end up in The Mothman Prophecies pt.2!

I love the sky in that one! Are you going to be able to spend the holidays at home?

I have very little family so I stay on the road.
I have a daughter and some nephews in Ohio but they are grown and have no time...
I also have a brother in Texas that I'll visit every once in a while.

Metron2267

Well Weiner you have "family" right here and thanks for all those road pics you share with us. Makes me feel like I'm riding shotgun. Say...if you ever need a lumper... ;)

WeinerInHand

It doesn't look like your favorite bologna, hot dog, Vienna sausage, or spam
...but it is. It is.

Metron2267

Dang! How much do each of those pallets weigh?

2,200lbs. × 20 rolls = 44,000lbs.
That is a whole lot of processed and rendered meat product!

I recall driving by the Hormel factory or rendering plant somewhere, I think maybe Souix Falls, and the smell was "interesting" crossing the bridge and also wondered how well they are treating whatever sludge by-product was flowing into the river.

WeinerInHand

I don't know about the waste treatment but I can tell you that most of the larger plants have an F.D.A. dept. right in the building. Also, most take pride in their resourcefulness of full product utilization, i.e. signs everywhere!
The smell? Oh, hell yes! In some places - the whole damn town. 🤢

And you do all your own lumping? Heckuva workout there even with a good pallet jack and roller.
