Radio and Podcasts / Have you been Hannitized?
March 17, 2011, 12:37:51 PM
Hannity isn't on any of the AM stations around here, but Colmes plays on the weekend, and his show is terrible. Not to get too off-topic, but they did (do?) have a show together.

I forgive you. Just back off your wife. ;)

Radio and Podcasts / Michael Savage is a Weiner
March 17, 2011, 12:31:50 PM
I like Michael Savage, but I haven't heard him as he was dropped from his local affiliate a while ago. I may need to see if he has any podcasts available.

He has some really good points and does his research, but he is too abrasive for most. I like the over-the-topness, though.

So, I listen to this show about the kid who goes to heaven and sees Jesus and God and comes back to tell the story.  The Buffoon doing the "Interview" goes off on this tangent and that....  Does he EVER ask 'What was Heaven like?'  'What did God/Jesus say?'

These are the very first questions that come to mind.

But Norry, The Les Nessman of late night, probes right to the heart of the matter with "What is his (the boy's) favorite season?"

Truly incredible.

I can't picture anyone more retarded then Noory.

So the show was, indeed, malarkey. George needs to be fired yesterday.

The only thing worse than people who complain about receiving unsolicited e-mails are those who complain about receiving unsolicited letter mail.

During the Similac baby formula recall, I briefly worked at the recall call center as a temp job, and this man called about a letter his wife had received from the company. He went OFF... asking how his wife got on the mailing list, how long she was on it, if this meant she was pregnant. It was very disturbing; I felt uncomfortable referring him to his wife for those answers for fear of what he might do to her physically or emotionally. Some people need to just calm the fuck down.

Know what normal people do when they receive e-mails/letters they don't care for? They hit delete or shred.

He is just boring. I can't tell the difference between him and NorMAN GoldMAN (emphasis his).

The only progressive radio talk-show host I can tolerate is Thom Hartmann. He is smart, engaging, and entertaining.

Just because he is in the throes of a (late) mid-life crisis and is realizing one day his world will come to an end, he thinks the entire world is going down with him. I think that's what's driving his sick obsession with the Apocalypse and the world ending.

Has anybody heard yet when Noory will have an episode about angels in Japan during the tsunami?

No, but tonight Neil Slade will be on to discuss releasing neurocircuits in the brain to use all the energy of the mind. I'm sure at some point the conversation will devolve into how the Japanese weren't harnessing the energy of their collective mind's properly to prevent the disasters in the first place.

I think Noory is working on a interview with Snooki and Justen Beiber to analyze and figure out what is going on with Charlie Sheen.  He will also have a holistic and natural medicine doc on to recommend a natural remedy to fix Charlie right up.

All he needs to do is replace snorting coke with turmeric and he will be fine.

Clear Channel / Premium knew exactly what they were getting with noory, and happy for it as they knew he would be a lot more flexible than Art regarding their influence to creativity. They knew he would hawk anything they wanted and that he would be all too willing to move to LA so they could keep him on a short leash. If this was the vision of coast that they wanted, I can't blame Art for moving on.
Precisely this. They don't want anyone with a mind of their own. If the top-level people themselves were of quality, we never would've had Noory in the first place.

I would ask what his Ouija board story is. I don't think he ever told that one on the air but he mentioned it numerous times.
I believe Noory has co-opted an Ouija board story, because he does the exact same thing. Except I don't think anyone cares what his story is.

Must feel weird for Art with Snoory at the helm of coast coverage after the Japan crisis.

I haven't listened to any of his coverage about the Japan disasters, but I sincerely hope he isn't using their crisis to further his end-of-the-world-2012 horseshit.

George's guest just mentioned that his paralyzed son was able to have his picture taken with the St. Louis Rams cheerleaders.  Guest: "His smile was never as big as it was in that picture."  George: "OHH, yeah.  They're great girls.  I mean, they're really nice."  I bet, George.

He never passes up an opportunity to drool about any traditionally-attractive women that are ever brought up on the show. Save it for the Howard Stern show, dude. No one cares.

Tomorrow's guest's last name is Malarkey. I'm almost tempted to listen.

I hate to say it, but the show is no longer listenable in almost any form. Generally when I turn it on I turn it off within two minutes because the guests, host, and callers are so terrible. Only Ian is any good, and Knapp who is rarely on. G.N. has tried to follow Beck and Alex Jones too much, and he is too into debunking medicine. He cited the infamous study about vaccines causing autism for years, but wasn't embarrassed in the least when it was revealed that the evidence they based it on was faked. His last guest stating that women don't have breast cancer until the doctor cuts them would be laughable if people didn't actually fall for it.
He should be thrown off the air for that.

Congratulations! That's wonderful news. :)

It's true what they say about kids -- you can't imagine having them until you do, and then you can't imagine life without them.

The media just loves to capitalize on celebrity's downfalls and mental illnesses. They did it when Mel Gibson was verbally (and apparently physically) abusive towards his girlfriend, Britney Spears and the head-shaving and baby in lap while driving incidents, and Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch, calling Matt Lauer glib, and berating Brooke Shields' book about managing post-partum depression through medication. And there are many more examples I'm forgetting.

The media loves Hollywood scandals, and it's been a long time since Hollywood studios/managers/agents/publicists did everything they could to keep stars' horrible antics out of the press. It's just the time we are living in. And it is unfortunate that we only see the freakshow side. Once they get better handlers, or are in treatment, no one cares about how they manage their addiction/mental illness. They've moved onto the next celebrity who they can mock for a few weeks.

This Charlie Sheen thing has gotten way out of hand -- thanks in large part to his own contribution. The initial Alex Jones interview was enough. I'm tired of every news show or morning radio show devoting entire segments to his meltdown. Not to mention the internet memes. It got old really fast.

Good hosts usually cut them off pretty quickly and just change the direction of the show, but of course George Noory would never do that.

I was kind of disappointed during one of Ian's shows with the schizophrenic man who was clearly off of his medication. I wish Ian would've called him out more for doing a 180 from the original topic of discussion.

Are the Tempurpedic's the memory foam ones?

I recently ordered a caseload of my favorite skin cream because Walgreen's stopped selling it in the stores. At least they were half off.

Gross about the escorts. For them. What amount of money could possibly be worth letting ol' cow eyes pump away on you? While that cheap leather smell, sprayed-on hair, and sweat dripped all over the place. He's probably driven more than a few out of the business.

So apparently Limbaugh had to answer allegations he uses actors as scripted call-ins to his show, which he largely denied.

However, companies apparently can be paid to hire call-in actors to a show.

So the question...the praise for Noory...bought?

heh. Yeah, I referenced that above, too. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some of the callers were paid actors. There's just no way some of those calls are real.

Tonight's show, which we all remember used to be all Open Lines, will have a guest To Be Announced at the beginning of the show.  I am looking closely at programming changes trying to read tea leaves, and I'm thinking there are two reasons for not having all Open Lines:  Noory can't handle it AND/OR there aren't enough callers.

They must not be using this service:

According to George Noory, he has been increasingly seeing shadow people.  This happens to be a classic Bipolar disorder delusion.  A simple Google search will provide you will volumes of data associating the visualization of shadow people with Bipolar disorder and Schizophrenia.

I'll let everyone come to their own conclusions.

Does this mean shadow people are the new angels?

LMH was trumpeting these Dragonfly Drone pictures/videos as the real deal, selectively choosing aspects of the story to fit her version of events, and when it was revealed that these drones were just a viral marketing campaign she still stuck to her guns. Turns out the whole campaign was for a Dell subsidiary (Alienware) and at one point LMH even pointed to a clearly-CGIed video as "proof".

There's an article here about it.

Thanks I will check it out. And sorry for transposing your username; I've been sick for the last week and clearly my mental faculties have taken a hit. :)

No fan here, either, but I've heard some (much) older tapes of LMH and I am convinced she is losing her voice.

I was coming here to post that I listened to her on an old Somewhere In Time with Art Bell and I didn't even recognize her voice. I believe it was from the late '90s. She actually sounded normal.

Also, radioweirdo: What was the Dragonfly Drone picture disaster of which you speak?

Wow. Interactions with the dead, or soon-to-be, seem more likely to be real when it's with a stranger or an acquaintance since there's less of a subconscious agenda.
