I find little difference in foreign policy when comparing Bush and Obama.  Just something I was thinking about tonight.

... What I find upsetting is how polarized we become when we talk about politics. Liberals hate Conservatives. Conservatives hate Liberals. If we do nothing but bitch about how the other party sucks a big fat one then we never discuss the problems. Our political discourse has devolved to name calling and finger pointing. And that's just tragic. ...

Well said, b_dubb.

Raging against "the other side" comes through as if it were spoken in a foreign language.

There are brilliant minds and educated people on both sides of the aisle.  That should make my point for me.

What I don't understand is how anyone, Republican or Democrat, can deny this similarity besides being blind and in denial. The only difference I see is, Obama is black and he got a Nobel Peace Prize. He was pretty annoyed, lol. It got in the way of his warmongering. Oh but when it comes to stalling the American economy, A plus plus!

As for being polarized, it's not that serious. I'm so sick of people dwelling on this. Yea, I wish people wouldn't call conservatives racist and liberals shemales, but it's not like those things are keeping this country back. It's the fact that we have no output of anything that is doing that.

About that aisle. One side just got lighter. The balloon known as Barney Frank is retiring.

So now only Randian Libertarians are true conservatives?
No only 'randy' Libetarians are considered ConservatIves

Frys Girl

Obama is a lucky ass. He has a billion dollars, unions who will go en masse for him, and a media that will perform sexual favors for him.

Frys Girl

Holy shit!!! I just ate the spiciest pepper. I didn't even eat the whole thing. one small bite and I'm about to call 9-1-1.

Not a good enough litmus test. There can only be one.

Maybe we should start an anti-liberal thread to keep this one random and stupid?

It's still fulfilling half of it's description. And not the random part.

Frys Girl

There should be a comma between random and stupid in the title of this thread.

Na....I'm sure your fat fingers have a hard enough time flipping through this one, and my fingers are too tired from shooting guns. Here's just fine.

I will just say..liberal, conservative, black, white, left-handed, right-handed...as soon as I associate my political leanings one way or the other, I have de facto limited my independant thinking to a group, and my power in that thinking is automatically transferred to a left/right side.
It is simply a means of divide and/or control power. And let us not forget..also money.
When I make a decision, I base it on a right or wrong premise. Not a conservative/liberal approach.."what would Rush do" bullshit like that. It is a simple matter of right vs wrong. Why break it down into left/right, capitalist, communist, vegan, monkey brain eater.....segregation? Do what you feel is right, shy from the wrong. Different applications are warranted for different situations. Dealing in life with such a polarized concept of attitude leads only to a faux self-righteousness...remember the old saying.."all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". This concludes random thoughts for the night. Return to your unscheduled de-programming  :)

One more random, stupid thought:  In my world, no one has a monopoly on the truth.

We should go back to when women couldn't vote. It hasn't even been 100 years.  We could still strike that down.  We'd probably get a balanced budget and I'm sure we'd stop electing good looking young men with no experience.

I don't envy the avalanche of shit you're going to take for that comment.

I'm just thinking about when it all started going downhill... No women voting would mean that FDR's 4 terms might have been cut short, and he consequently  would probably not have been as successful in his socialist agenda, Kennedy wouldn't have been elected,  Goldwater would've won, and Obama would still be stapling fliers to telephone poles in Chicago.

Yeah you're right.  Forget it.  It's about as likely as stopping the gay mafia from completely re-defining the concept of marriage just so we can all feeeel better.  NEVERMIND.

In all seriousness I think we should have a voting holiday where everyone gets a day off work to cast their vote.  I think it would encourage more people to vote because the elderly and unemployed make up a disproportionate percentage of our voting base (at least where I am from).

As it's said..those groups tend to vote early and often. People who referred to Teddy Kennedy as "Joe's Boy" are still voting like it's 1944.

Here in Seattle we all vote by mail, so they can fix the elections I assume.  The old ladies in sneakers down at the county elections council just count them till the democrat wins.  They even keep us posted!  "Well, Dino Rossi won so we're going to have to count the votes again because that can't be right!"

I wonder what our country would look like if voting was compulsory?

There should also be an apostrophe between Fry and s.  I think.  Who is this Fry anyway?  And by the way, you would still be allowed to vote if I ran things.  Don't worry.  You and Lena are permitted to vote.  And my wife.  And maybe Scully, I don't know.  I'd have to review all the ladies on a case by case basis.
