It just doesn't stop in France.

"As a security measure, Palais Royal Louvre Museum closed to the public on Line 7. Trains pass without stopping at station."

QuoteUttering threats and shouting "Allah Akbar," the assailant allegedly tried to break into the Carousel du Louvre, with two backpacks. The bomb squad has been called. The aggressor has been wounded in the stomach.

QuoteAccording to Michel Cadot, the prefect of police, the attacker is alive and was taken in charge by the firemen of Paris. Moreover, after checking the contents of the two backpacks of the attacker, no explosives were found.

QuoteThe government application supposed to warn people in case of a major crisis with a geolocation feature has not worked, according to several testimonies relayed on Twitter. And this is not the first time that such a bug occurred - last July, the app was triggered 2 hours after the bombing in Nice, causing much criticism.

Quote*According to the spokesman of the Ministry of the Interior, Pierre-Henry Brandet: "We do not know the identity" of the man who assaulted soldiers on duty near the Louvre Museum.

*Five bullets were fired, and the soldier was injured on the scalp.

*Another individual was also questioned by the authorities. "His involvement will be determined by the public prosecutor," said the spokesman of the Interior Ministry.

*A security perimeter was set up around the museum and about 1,000 visitors were confined, and are currently being evacuated.

*The patrol targeted by the aggressor at the Louvre was composed of four soldiers. "The wounded soldier is not the one who opened fire."

Well, seems mostly like a non event. Probably could've been a lot worse considering how many tourists go there.

It should also be noted that Paris is bidding for the 2024 Olympics, and were holding an event Friday for it.

Well I, personally, don't even know why we need to issue VISAs. Or check visitors, refugees, or immigrants. It is a human rights issue and there are more threats from home-grown people, especially second generation Muslims. But, having said that, some of these more amateur attempts at jihad seen all across Europe, and here, might be more like a 'suicide by cop' type of thing, in some cases. Afraid to kill themselves and won't off themselves, so the loser thinks "I'll make a statement" and get heaven and maybe even some virgins for my lame virgin loser person death. Which is still a bad thing, for us? But not as bad as the coordinated Muslim peace actions with mass casualties and deaths. But asymmetric, as the wonks say, which is why profiling, screening, and temporary (at least,) measures are logical.
