Can you make this a multiple choice question?  TIA

Huuuge sardine guy here. About three hours ago I needed a quick protein fix before the guys in the band showed up (make your own jokes) and opened a can of Millionaires boneless :) I go through about four cans a week give or take..  I've always got a can handy in my gig bag when we play (just incase) not to mention a can in my main work toolbox. Ya' never know when you're gonna need 'em.

Don't like them in ketchup or any heavy oil. Mustard is ok but spring water is the best. Canned kippers too :)  mmmmm

This is my go-to package simply due to local availability. They're from Morroco (it says on the box), which makes their arrival in the PNW somewhat suspect, but I simply ignore pondering the realities of intercontinental shipping--these little marvels taste like chicken.

I'll try nearly any brand I see vendored at a reasonable price--however, I draw the line at spinal cords and the Pacific Ocean. This narrows my options considerably but I just can't handle the gore.

Didn't we already start all this in a Hoagie thread?  It was easy to get off topic at times.   ;D

That's no reason we can't go over it again. How can it become cliché otherwise?

I'm with Jackstar on the Season ones.  I first got them at Costco when I needed to find and extra $10 to spend off a Christmas gift card.  I don't mind picking out the bones, heck I will eat them if I'm feeling lazy, and if the skin is on I eat them too, but these are pretty damn good, and reasonably priced.  I think it's 8-10 cans for ten bucks?  Maybe a dozen?

Never liked the "flavored" sardines of any type.  Oil or water are best.  Probably prefer water over oil, but a fish flavored oil can be "reclaimed" for other culinary projects if you are adventurous and want to bother with it.

Purchased these when I traveled back to my homeland.

Baby sardines in Olive Oil. (Very good)

Boneless/skinless (Very good)

Sardines in Tomato Sauce  (Meh. Disappointed)

By far the best:

Yes.  King Oscar is the only sardine as far as I am concerned.  I can still see Grandma lining them up carefully on rough bread, for herself.  They were not squandered on children.

Goggle won't help you in finding out who Lex Britler is in this thyme-line, Jack.

COL Pate Manly might have mentioned the guy in passing, Nautical Shore.

I think he was the Anglais PM when the circa WWII royal fambly went full National Socialist in another thyme-lyne.  I think it had to do with the age-old British-French animosity.

In some thyme-lynes Lex is quite the character, esp the ones where the English court adopted and kept French as the National Language.  I think that happened during or before the Holy Roman Empire thymes in "our/your" parrot-eel ewe-knee-versus...

Ha!  I don't recall the thread but, yep, sardines made the hit list one drunken night of discourse on BG.  Hey, since BellGab is back, it's time to get serious about the BellGab Sardine Fest.  Here's my choice.

Matiz has several varieties but I by far prefer the small sardines with peppers.  I then zip them up a notch with some spicy mustard.

Sardines in mustard sauce - Yummy.  ;)    ;D

Sardines aren't just ANY kind of fish.  Sardines have come packed in mustard since forever.

No. :o
The only Sardines I've ever had were packed in olive oil or spring water, and Blessed by Neptune, Himself!

Any. It's a real thing. I'm a little surprised you haven't been exposed to that combination, but as I was in my 30s when I discovered that guacamole is a perfect complement to dill pickles, this simply enhances your street cred here.
