Would someone who is a lot smarter than me and who remembers the economic meltdown of 2008 kindly explain why this, or any other drastic deregulation of the "too big to fail" financial system, is a good thing. Thank you in advance.

The allegations are that the agency actually props up the big banks, not consumers, despite the bill's title.

I agree that the lack of accountability is a problem, especially if it's unconstitutional, but that could be remedied with a few tweaks of the language. However, eliminating it would just be throwing out the baby and keeping the dirty bathwater. The part about the CFPB inflicting "serious harm on the U.S. economy" is a bit hyperbolic, and I seriously doubt any bank executives are going hungry because of it.

Conclusion

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau inflicts serious harm on the U.S. economy. Beyond that, the CFPB’s structure eliminates political accountability to such an extent that the bureau runs afoul of the Constitution.

It was. Though the region has historically be a mess. But the Serbs seem to have the best argument historically for claiming it. (Ignoring that giving Kosovo to the Muslims might have been appropriate for the atrocities committed by the Serbs during the most recent wars. But, then again, the Muslims also committed a lot of atrocities, so?)

While the implications of this image are horrifying, I am somewhat comforted in the certitude that I will qualify for my endangered species benefits before most of the rest of you. Nyahh, nyahh nyahh.

BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHhhhhh - HA - HA - HA ! ! !    Not only was I about to drop the same post, but the same damn vid too !  You beat me to it big guy. ;)

ALL HAIL "SAGE" MV & his implementation of search functionality !  :)
I'll edit my post to compensate, but it's still a wall of text - fair warning.

Celebrities that said they'd leave the United States if Trump became President.

====================---   DANGER   ---==========================
=============---   Incoming Wall of Text   ---==================

Does anyone know if these trash-talking, fear-mongering fools have left yet ?

Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad.

Samuel Jackson, actor - "If that motherfucker becomes President, I'm moving my black ass to South Africa" [said to Jimmy Kimmel]
That's too bad Samuel, you've made some good movies.
Q: Samuel, "What the fuck is in your wallet ?"
A: Krugerrands  :)

Neve Campbell of Party of Five, the Scream movies, and now on House of Cards.
Damn girl, I'm going to hate to see you go. Time to repatriate yourself. (You vowed to do it.)

Natasha Lyonne of Orange is the New Black - said she'd commit herself to a mental hospital.
LOL - Have at it !

Cher - "I'm moving to Jupiter." - Let me talk to Elon, maybe I can help you with that.

Miley Cyrus - "... Honestly fuck this shit. I am moving if he is President. I don't say things I don't mean."
Well then, Hannah Montanna your ass out of here. What are you waiting for ?

Barbara Streisand â€" “I’m either coming to your country [the U.K] if you’ll let me in, or Canada.”  Look out Yorkshire & SV, more immigrants.  ;D

Amy Schumer, comedian. (or so they say. ::)  )   â€œI will need to learn to speak Spanish, because I will move to Spain or somewhere.”
Good riddance.

Chelsea Handler â€" “I did buy a house in another country just in case. So all these people that threaten to leave the country and then don’t â€" I actually will leave that country.”
(Thought that one was pretty good. :)  )

Jon Stewart - former host of the "Daily Show". Said he's "going to another planet".
I hear Jupiter is nice this time of year. Let me hook you up with Cher & Elon. Maybe you can get the package tour, dumb-ass. Now get the fuck out of my country asshole.

Whoopi Goldberg - “Maybe it’s time for me to move, you know. I can afford to go.”
Wasn't Guinan"s home planet destroyed by the Borg though ?
(Honestly, I think Whoopi was one of the few that was serious & not just talking shit. She brought up a very good point in her rant: not painting people with a broad brush, although i think she is still letting fear get the better of her.)

Rosie O'Donnell.

Matt Damon.

George Lopez - comedian.  Plans on heading South... with all the other Hispanics. (According to him.)
Need a laugh ? George's twitter feed is hilarious. https://twitter.com/georgelopez/status/703826891354968069/photo/1
(He's also using a Prince lyric as his sig)

Ali Wentworth, wife of ABC newsman George Stephanopoulous. To Australia.

Feb 26, 2016 - Rev. Al Sharpton told attendees at a Center for American Progress Action Fund event he would flee the country if Donald Trump won the election, in order to avoid being deported by Trump. - (I believe this was said as a joke, but I could be wrong. You decide.)

(Funny but interesting article.)

Oh, and we're still waiting on Alec "Hulu" Baldwin to leave the country from the Bush election in 2000.

When you do leave, don't be selfish, take a few of your friends, family, and maybe a dog, cat, or a pet lizard or two, too.

(Insert albrecht's Caddy-Shack vid here.)

Just one question though, how do we lock the door after they split ?  ???
Oh wait, there will be a wall.  ;D

I'm listening to the Kenyan now. Is this a press conference or a fucking LiveJournal post? I thought the Presidency was bad enough, but the farewells just may give me a conniption.

We hear stuff about the Clinton foundation. No-one found room for this.

Why Bill Clinton helped a 33-year-old build a $1bn firm

Instead of giving them aid, his plan was to invest in, help run and expand indigenous companies, mostly insurance and healthcarefunds, so that populations would not be blighted by ill-health.

After a very slow start, the business today has more than $1bn (£800m) of funds on its books. It currently invests in 16 companies across 22 countries in Africa and Asia that have a combined 100,000 employees and serve 91 million people.

Trump's venture to help up and coming business people was a scam university. Oh, and a show with him as the focus of attention.

Jackstar

QuoteYet he started investing in the stock market aged 10, using money he made from selling the family's crops on the side of the road. By aged 13, he was making money for clients.

Bullshit.

Aw! Don't worry, sunshine. If you pray real hard maybe you'll get another corrupt president soon since you're so enamored of such things.  :D

debka is always interesting, but I don't find them particularly reliable. Though the area between Iran and Russia is geographically rather good for infantry and armored warfare. They're historically wary of one another.

CNN told me that Debka was a transparent shill for Mossad, and I believed CNN. That's how fucked Debka is.

Caught a bit of Bill Maher's show just after watching the latest Star Wars (I don't know what people complained about, I though Cuba Gooding, Jr did a fine job as an ex-Storm Trooper) but he had some guys Maas from, seriously, the CFR and audience, and him, were laughing about him goaded into saying Presidents "don't have the 'need to know' in all situations." Maher also, in keeping apparently, haven't seen show before, with just crude comments and no real analysis as intro. He is no Bill Hicks/Alex, Lenny Bruce, or Carlin, try as he does. He is pretty lame.
