PS The Paul of "Hi Paul" fame is beyond a troll, he entered stalker status as I recall.

I don't know, there might even be a third Paul involved. Remember that 3rd Paul (3P) snapped at Bart Ell over Bart's proving that he was using Kingdom of Nye Radio before Heather.
The walrus was Paul.

Dave has a positive, forward-moving tone.  He has a great voice with those occasional little noises in the range where growls usually are.  At first, I noticed his pitch doesn't vary as much as some other hosts, but it's totally great.  He is considerate and in control!  Tell us how you met your better half!  When did you "know" she was the one!

I guess Tim got with Mr. Massachusetts and is now spending his cash.  Paul must be jealous.

Mr Apnea, I’m a little lost - I know Tim from unSpooky Southcoast is from MA, who is ‘Mr. Massachusetts‘?

There is a local caller that calls in every week to the station talk shows where Tim works.   He called Tim this last week and I think 2 weeks before that.   Tim lets him ramble for about 10 minutes.  He claims he is getting millions from a sweepstakes (last week it went to a billion).  He seems to think Tim is his buddy.  Last week he said he could buy the state of Massachusetts (I think many times over).  The ongoing joke is that Tim is going to link up with him to get his cash.    You can hear it on his youtube posting (watch the chat you'll see several of us react.  Bart is there too).  Someone in the chat called him Mr. Massachusetts.  (I'm going on memory, so I might have screwed some of this up).

Thank you so much!! I had no idea what I’ve been missing! I think Mr. MA could possibly buy New Bedford, but Weston will be out of his league. Lol my ass off.

Ha  ;D the difference is that Dave and Tim put on good shows that are enjoyable to listen to...I didn't listen to Dave last night, as I'm not into "alternative healing" topics...how was the haunted house guy in hour 3?

I need to do a brig and replay the show.  I didn't make it past the audio healing.   Some stuff I can't take no matter how many times a host says have an open mind.  Walks like a Duck....

For all that ails you:

I read in a book by Teddy Roosevelt, (I believed it was the 'Rough Riders') that since a small child he was very thin, weak, had poor eyesight and very serious asthma. His dad made him learn boxing, lifted weights and he since about 12 yrs was on a rigorus physical regimen.
A few yrs later his family doctor recommend that he smoke a few cigars each day to help/cure his asthma. Well I am not sure if any of these "drugs" noted in the ad which was basically like the accepted "patent medicince" of the time, had anything in the prescribed cigars or were just plain old hand rolled Havana's. But he did grow out of his asrhma and was as we know became a very harden and tough outdoorsmen, cowboy, big game hunter, adventurer, rancher, pioneer, NYPD police commissioner, sec ofbthe Navy, NYS Gov., President and soldier who fought in combat and was awarded the Congressional Medal Of Honor. Seems that smoklng cigars at a young age that it could've been the cure or the medical treatment for what affilcited him...after all he was the, Bullmoose!"

Medicines of the day were loaded with alcohol, cocaine and opiates. Women got a headache or depressed after having children or any other "lady" problems so doctors prescribed as the first thing a liquid medicine loaded w/ "Laudanum" which is just a form of almost pure opium. Laudanum is a tincture of opium containing approximately 10% powdered opium by weight. Reddish-brown and extremely bitter, laudanum contains almost all of the opium alkaloids, including morphine and codeine. Of course it made them calm, relaxed and quiet. Sugar and booze was added to make it palitable. Today's opiate problems are nothing new. So many of the soldiers from the Spanish-American and Civil War became hooked on this stuff as it was given for pain relief and really all they had...like today's opium based meds. Not to mention Opium dens were all over the cities and town throughout America. When they realized how big a problem it was becoming the medical community looked for something get people off the opiates. The answer was a new "non habit forming drug" to ween patients off opiares made by Bayer in Germany watch was injectable Heroine! Hell the Germans invented amphedimine, or something like Crystal Meth...that they sold over the counter like Lifesavers that helped the people stay awake, work more etc. It helped them re-build the country and was given to the German military as a great pep pill that kept them alert! It was called Pervitin and it was promised, "to help with treatment of a range of conditions, from bronchial congestion and fatigue, to narcolepsy, attention deficit  and obesity." It was used by Hitler to the lowest private to the factory worker and housewife or farmers in the Fatherland. And was readily available OTC!! After the war they realized it was a problem as all these people were "jonesing" and all ran around all shaky and hooked on "ups" and pretty much useless.
Not to be outdone American GI's wondered what made the Germans never seem to have to rest. They found it amoung the Germans personal effects and not to be outdone we came up with "bennys," or Benzedrine pills, touted to treat the same things as Pervitin.

Today the US military, USAF pilots and USN Aviators still get, supposedly on a limited bases what they call "go oills and no go pills." One keeps u awake the other knocks you down to sleep and rest. The go pills are non habit forming used  for narcolepsy, people who have shift wk and need their internal clocks run right as well as sleep apnea. They were discovered pretty much by accident. Like so many meds they know what they do but aren't too certain how they really work. They effect the bodies hisitimines. They are called, Provigil and Nuvigil. Both non-narcotic.These are the "go pills."
If you remember a few years back big pharma came out with a few sleeping pills, an entire new class.  Lunesta, Ambien and a couple others...not like the old narcotic downers to make you sleep. The military jumped on them as the "no go pills."

So really the more things change the more they just remain the same!!!

Fascinating!  I hope they do the follow-up session mentioned last night - where it is proposed that Dave will broadcast a show from the Hinsdale house with the guest and a certified hypnotist who will try to do a past-life regression to see if there is a link between the guest and the house; i.e. to determine if the guest has a connection with the house that draws him to the work he is doing in that particular location.

He he.  Go back even farther and it gets worse.  George Washington was treated with mercury (and it probably led to his death - if the induced bleeding didn't).   Old habits die hard, even today they don't apply medicine like a science (followling a cookbook and speculation)
