My friend Nadine was rehearsing a play where there's a little sleight-of-hand stagecraft: A handkerchief is folded one way, then applied to a body, & unfolded the other way to reveal "blood".  She fainted.  She knew the illusion, knew it was in use, could do it herself, yet her rxn to the performance was that strong.
