OK, numbnuts, let's dispense with the 'let's ban cars' argument.

Ban cars and nobody gets to work. Public transport by rail can't handle the extra load. Companies can't use the roads to transport food. People can't get medical supplies/treatment. In other words, the economy collapses and many more people will die by not having cars on the road than having them.

So, we do all we can to make things safer. We don't do nothing and pretend road accidents are fake drills organised by the Government.

I shouldn't have to explain this, even to a low-rent tulip-slinger like you.

Ban alcohol and cigarettes if you are concerned with saving lives.

Why don't you pay attention instead of diverting? I said it's about making things safer in a practical way. You can minimise the effects of alcohol and tobacco but the point is whether you create more problems than you solve.

Freedom and socialism are concepts that are mutually exclusive.  If you disagree, please cite for us a single instance in which the socialist model has been implemented wherein the government did not  devolve into an oppressive authoritarian regime.  If you have read Marx you will see that he acknowledges the need for such to occur as a step in achieving a communist utopia.  The problem is that tyrannical control must be sustained in order for the ruling class who are the only true  beneficiaries of the system to stay in power.  And so it goes.
It's just a cute quote from an old acquaintance when people asked at her meeting if they were going to use table cloths.  She replied, "We are not barbarians; we are Freedom Socialists".  I, however am not a Freedom Socialist, but I thought her remark was fitting.  Whatever our hard core, furious political beliefs are, we can still enjoy civility together by agreeing to disagree, speaking for ourselves, and just presenting our best case in discussion.

The Trumps are using the Reagan china.  I'm not surprised.  I would think Trump likes red, and liked Reagan.

Your critique of using automobiles was valid. They serve a necessity.

Alcohol and cigarettes do not and the damage and injuries they inflict is not limited to the people that choose to use them. Many times more deaths in Texas are caused by drunken drivers.

Let’s outlaw illegal aliens.  Oh wait. They are already outlawed. Let’s enforce those laws. Many more people are harmed by illegal aliens as are harmed by firearms. They serve no legitimate purpose.

Most shootings occur where gun laws are the most draconian. That would be an example where you create more problems than you solve.

Mr. Vashtar, I'm sorry if I'm asking you to repeat yourself, but what would you propose? What would you like us to do where firearms are concerned?

Ban cars and nobody gets to work.

Ban guns and nobody gets to live.

Point out the gun-free utopia that stands as an example that supports your lunacy--pro tip, you can't.

Protection of self is a necessity. Arguably this need can be met without firearms--let me know when the telekinesis is ready to be passed out.

All instruments of mayhem such as honed cutlery, garden tools and cricket bats must be confiscated.  Oh yeah, and bar stools not fixed to the floor too.

Most shootings do NOT occur where gun laws are most draconian. I know because I live somewhere where you can't own a gun. If you want to make an argument, fine, but don't make shit up.

As I said, we can make things safer but we can't make things perfect. We already take steps to stop drink driving. Personally I'd say you can't drink at all when driving. Tobacco is less of a public danger and we already try to stop people smoking in public places. So, you're minimising the dangers as much as you can. But people also enjoy both products quite harmlessly and you ought to remember that, and personal freedom comes in somewhere, surely, even for bad things. Also you provide an outlet for organised crime if you ban it rather than manage it.

Guns are different. There isn't a clear opportunity cost that you're sacrificing. That's why people get lost in paranoia so they can defend it. Maybe banning them is impractical but why not make them harder to obtain and make people take regular tests to keep their license? Why is the potential to cause terrible physical harm a right, but healthcare for the victim seen as a privilege?

That razor-sharp wit of his could be a problem too.

Nay, nay my brother.  Self defense is a natural and constitutional right.  It is up to the individual to determine if it is a necessity as I deem it to be.  Others may decide that their worthless asses aren’t worth defending.

Anywhere that you're not living is a Utopia to me. But the UK is widely recognised as Heaven on Earth. As Belinda Carlisle used to tell us.

(Pauses a moment to think about BC in her prime).

OK, was looking for Belinda fat pictures...could have swore she got fat at some point.  I don't think she did.  In fact, I didn't realize that she was/is kinda cute.  Who am I thinking of?  Eighties frontgirl who got fat?

I've heard of Argumentum Ad Hominem. Is there a Latin tag to describe a little shit who tries to defeat my argument by googling pictures of fat chicks?

If you had a constitution you might understand. I know I will never convince you. You live on an island that is isolated from the world. Your gun laws work for the same reason that they work in Australia. You have a small population that is geographically isolated from the rest of the world. And you don’t have a constitutional right to have them so your government can do whatever they choose to enforce the law.

By “most shootings” I obviously meant in the US, but then you knew that.

We have enough gun laws. They need to enforce the ones they have. Less than .01% of the people that fail the background check for lying on their application are ever investigated.

Most firearms crimes are committed by people that are already unable to obtain a firearm illegally.
There are enough gun laws.

If you are concerned about saving lives - get the most bang for the buck. Their is no plausible argument for legal alcohol and cigarettes while outlawing marijuana and guns.

And knowing neither of us will be swayed by either’s witty repartee, I beg of you to open up a non-alcoholic beverage and join me in a toast to a wonderful weekend!

She had a lot of baby fat when she was in the Go-Go's.  She lost it though.  I think she was far more attractive as she got a bit older.

She has had her ups and downs. Ever see her when she was on Bones?

These days she is trotting out the Amy Martin look.
