It is interesting given their history that they choose to fly the American flag rather than, say, the British.  It would seem that, for all the talk of how our international prestige has been diminished, it remains high among people who actually matter.

I know.  Curious considering how the world press and all those thriving socialist havens, for decades, have been braying about what cocksuckers we are.  Curious that the hopeful of the world would see us as their vindicators and justicars. Why are they not crying out to Raul Castro to talk some sense into the Chicoms?  Why can't Maduro do something for them?

They have used the Union Jack, but they've also been using the old Hong Kong flag.

Oh well, I'm sure the Brits are just days away fm some intervention.  What's the feels over there Shreddi?  Something like this, "Fuck the Wogs."?

No and this is the first time I have heard of it.    I will look for it.

This link should get you to the order page.  I get the Early Bird and the Breaking News.  Everything here is free, courtesy of Military Times.  I've read the Early Bird for close to thirty years, back to the days when you'd get a three day old buck slipped copy thru distribution after the head shed was finished with it.  Everything in it is open sourced, but it's very well done.

I know the life I'm living is of no consequence to you.  but I'm working class, and I'm not crushed. folded or mutilated.  My whole family is insured.  I've got no problems that I can't handle.

Course, this is America, not some socialist enclave where the people are starving to death and you have free medical.... but no medicines.

Has your insurance been seriously stress tested yet? I don't mean those much-anticipated yearly arse-fingerings, but have you had major surgery or serious illnesses where you find out if your insurance is worth a shit? That's the problem with people like you, and so many Trump supporters - because they are currently doing OK they lack any motivation or imagination to wonder what things would be like if they weren't.

I hope you're right, but I'm betting on some type of military intervention.  It might not be as iron fisted as Tiananmen, but that will depend largely on the protestors themselves.  The loss of face in allowing this to continue I think would be too much for the Chinese in general and the Party in particular.

I would expect leaders from Western/democratic nations to say all the right things about the safety and rights of the HK protestors, even threaten sanctions. Trump has taken it a step too far suggesting Xi should meet with him to negotiate  the issue, however.
Ooooh, I don't know.  All the chinks have to say is 'no.'  But they won't do that.  They will negotiate some mild Trumpings, they will give in on the tariffs, use a softer hand against the agitators and Trump and Xi will present this to their respective countries as 'Victory!'

The Union Flag. It's only called the Union Jack when it's flown on a ship.
Is that a fact.  Why?

If anyone is so inclined there is a fascinating, and hilarious, pseudo-legal theory (or real if you believe the theorists) about the "gold-fringed" flag and that our Federal Courts are actually Admiralty Courts (or Maritime Courts depending on how one wishes to express the idea) and a different type of legal system than popularly believed. The theory can expand to that the British, or, more particularly The City, actually still runs the courts and my extension the Royals (who are German) who had to give up some sovereignty to The City (why they have that whole mayor spectacular at Temple Bar.) Lloyd's of London (911 claims that 'disappeared' after being settled- not in public because not a public company and not, really, an insurance company or underwriter as popularly believed but a sorta of quasi reinsurance company but really more of a market of underwriters and reinsurers.) And then you can go down the Temple Bar, the civil war (English one) and why the radical Protestants allowed a certain Tribe back (after Edward I kicked them out, at least legally.) and the "forgotten Amendment" due to the War of 1812. And so on. Whew. Can be fun but I do not suggest using the whole "you have no jurisdiction because you are an Admiralty Court and you are a sovereign citizen and a "Real," non-corporate person" ."  ;)

the 10th amendment was pretty much tromped by the Feds/Union during the civil war.  If I recall my high school history lessons correctly.

This probably doesn't add up in your equation.  I have dealt with a loved one's long illness (Alzheimer) and the LTC (Long Term care) that is required.  The Nursing attendants in his house.  The special supplies that are needed.  The Specialists.  The Routine Dr visits, etc.

His insurance policies and that offered by the STATE pretty much covered everything.  The deductibles for the various services ran fm 10 to 20 percent.  Over the 15 years of his LTC, it might/could have cost me 30,000 dollars thru deductibles and out of pocket.  I will admit, that it was a little tight here and there.

It would have cost me a lot less if I had put him in a home.  But I wanted family around him.  *shrug*  Personally, I have always been in good health.  If you subtract the PTSS ( Increasingly it's being referred to as a 'syndrome' rather than a disorder), that is .  This last year I had a false positive for a MultiMeyloma, blood cancer.  Turns out that the Arthritis markers that were triggered by the PTSS, are also the markers for this specific cancer.  *shrug*

So I have spent more on myself in deductibles (20 %, 5-10buxx for meds, free Viagra  ;)) this last year than I have in nearly 20 years.  That's all I can offer up as a 'Stress Test' for my insurance.

with what I have described, how might it have worked out under your system?  And a sidebar, how are your Vets treated by the gov't system? Are they just as fucked as we have been?

And the free Viagra, now you know why you are the bottom boi.

You wouldn't have to worry about deductibles because your treatment would be free. I don't know how they treat people in the army, but since everybody is covered by the NHS the idea of having a VA would be redundant. It's not a perfect system by any means, and there are always a small group of idiots who want to throw it away and make a lot of money for a handful of people, but you'd have a hard time getting elected as a politician here if you pledged to scrap the NHS.

Here I call my doc and schedule an appointment.  Truth be told, the rarer the specialty the longer the wait.  Over there, it's a general understanding here, that you 'get in line' and are told when the dr/specialist can see you.  But I have watched Doc Martin and apparently you can just pass out in a road and a doctor will come running down the street, after some delightful street urchin runs up the road to notify the good dr.  Apparently there is no 911?

Sounds to me like you realize that it is too late to save your country, so why bother trying?  Britain looks like the calm eye of a communist hurricane, someone should do something about that...

If it's a choice between waiting a while for a non-urgent procedure, or paying through the nose, I will take the wait. Obviously, the more life-threatening surgeries take priority.

I think the important health care question here is whether or not the harvested organs of the political dissidents in Hong Kong will be distributed according to needs of the Chinese people?  I certainly hope those harvested organs are not shipped out of the People's Paradise to benefit the Capitalist nations of the world...

I find it amusing that you are comparing the protests in Hong Kong to Tiananmen Square. There is no comparison. At Tiananmen they sang the Internationale:

Arise you prisoners of starvation
Arise you wretched of the earth
For justice thunders condemnation
A better world's in birth
No more traditions chains shall bind us
Arise you slaves no more enthrall
The earth shall rise on new foundation
We have been naught we shall be all
Tis the final conflict let each stand in his place
The Internationale shall be the human race!

You get the idea don't you boys? The Tiananmen protestors were hard core communists!

The amerikkkan orchestrated protests in Hong Kong are, but the last gasp of amerikkkan empire in its inability to compete with Chinese industry. Your empire is being eclipsed both economically, and technologically.

Do you fellows know which countries are rated the freest in the world? Of course you don't.

"The Human Freedom Index Report gave more than 160 countries a rank in all three categories to determine which countries were the freest in the world. The country with the highest rank for the personal freedom index was the Netherlands, followed closely by Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Hong Kong had the highest economic freedom index, followed closely by Singapore. For overall human freedom, New Zealand came in first, closely followed by Switzerland and Hong Kong." http://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/freest-countries/  So Hong Kong was in the top tier in all three categories, and being first in the realm of economic freedom.

Hmmm so what are these protests about? Those Hong Kongers are actually freer than your fallacious image of your own freedom. This is no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave. It is the land of the fee, and the home of the knave. One of the biggest knaves that bag of shit sitting in the White House.

Oh to hoist the Hammer and Sickle over the White House!
