A proposal has been submitted by a local SJW to change the name of a park in my small southwestern Florida city to honor the Calusa tribe which once controlled a large portion of our area of the state.  This lovely park runs along the bay front of our fair city and is named for a founding family that did much over the years to settle the area and make it safe and prosperous and having done so sold this primo real estate to the City for $1.00.    I am offering a counterproposal that, if the name is to be changed, a state of the art firearms range be built in place of the pickle ball courts and the park be renamed the “Andrew Jackson Peace Park and Family Recreational Shooting Facility.   I feel this proposal is appropriate to honor “Old Hickory’s” work to bring peace to this area when certain indigenous tribes armed and instigated by British agents took to slaughtering and burning out white settlers.  The Brits and other European powers of the day were keenly interested in preventing U.S. citizens from occupying Florida because of the potential it carried for the U.S. Government to claim sovereignty over the contested Peninsula by virtue of the number of U.S. nationals residing therein.  Fortunately there was a man of the caliber of “The Hero of New Orleans” among our citizenry who was able to convince the marauding tribes to cease and desist despite their refusal to enter into a formal peace treaty.  This led directly to the Colusas subsequently acquiring a large stake in a multi-billion dollar gaming empire to which for decades now white men have been paying exorbitant reparations for the tribe’s lost hegemony.  It’s only fitting that Jackson’s contribution to the wellbeing of our Native American neighbors be recognized in this way within our municipality.

Life is good!  Today I scored a 32 jumbo roll pack of Quilted Northern Toilet Paper after being forced to use single ply since the “Great COVID Hoarding Frenzy of March 2020.”   I rate this happy occurrence as something on the order of discovering a painted-over de Vinci original under a framed rendering of peasants working in a field that one bought at a yard sale for $3.50.  God bless Sam and god bless his Club.

Master Plumber, Master Electrician, Maestro, Master(s) in chess, Martial Arts Master.... it is so absurd these people but worse is that the press, academia, politicians, and general society doesn't fight back against them, even rhetorically.

And what about Mr. and Mrs. Bator's son Master Bator.   (Yeah, I know--this comment is childishly inane and gratuitous but I've had a rough day and I'm in a fuck it mood.)

Does anyone know why this is happening? The death rate is dropping in the USA despite increase in known cases.

Is it that the previous measurements were not accurate for the total number of unknown cases, or is it the higher temps cause less complications and severity of illness, or is it the treatment has gotten so much better? Or, some other statistical aberrations that have skewed the data?

More and better testing identifies more cases.  Reported hospital cases include everyone who shows up at a hospital with the bug and not necessarily because of it whose number is reflected in totals shown on charts and graphs without distinction.     A possible alternative explanation is that the Chinese have unloosed a hoard of sleeper Typhoid Maries cleverly infiltrated into the population over the years who are now traveling the country doing a lot of heavy breathing among residents of states heretofore minimally effected by the virus.  I expect that there are those who are investigating such a possibility as we speak and further expect to learn of it first here on BellGab.

Since I might be enjoying posting here, might as well I figure it out how to attach an avatar to my name.  Myself  dear friend who died from COROVID-19 five weeks ago, who was a very prominent member here, he had a very arresting avatar.
I will not try to compete with his, out of respect, but I will try my best to reflect it.
Can you please guide me how to do it.

Was his name Zsa Zsa?

Keep posting.  You’ve almost got me convinced to vote for a personally and legislatively unaccomplished and senile old crook who managed to get elected and stay in office as a representative of a state that ranks 45th in population and 50th in area.  But, to his credit, he did ride the train home to Delaware every night while serving in Congress and became a multi millionaire by virtue of his wisely choosing not to maintain two households.

Tonight I fell asleep in front of the TV and woke up just a few minutes ago to an airing of “Larry King’s Prostrate Report.”  Thought I’d check out BellGab before turning in and came across this thread.  Think I’ll go back to watching Larry.

So you need a dedicated thread to do that?  You and others who consider themselves singularly interesting enough to be the subject of a thread strike me as being total narcissists.

I eschewed the benefit of anonymity and posted the below on my FB page.  This is sure to enliven future family gatherings which will be composed evenly of Trump haters and Trump advocates.  No doubt the devil made me do it.

“Now that the full scope of the Obama/Biden administration’s efforts to disrupt the orderly turnover of government and obsessive  determination to sabotage Trump’s presidency through contrived accusations and malicious prosecutions is coming to light, the silence of self-identified “fair minded” liberals is ear splitting.  Why are these progressives and social justice warriors not decrying what is obviously a criminal conspiracy to nullify an election that continues to this day.  This is not only an infringement on the civil rights of a major portion of the U.S population but has been ruinous to the lives and reputations of innocent people.  Notwithstanding, some of you remain willingly ignorant of what has been going on while others who are aware attempt to minimize or rationalize it as “politics as usual” which is  deeply chilling to me.  Could it be because it was Donald Trump who was elected which in your minds justifies any and all criminal acts committed on the way to removing him from office?

To those of you who choose to overlook this historic perversion of democracy and remain silent out of a sense of party loyalty or prideful unwillingness to admit that you’ve been taken, I can only say that you and I have a very different sense of right and wrong and what it means to be an AMERICAN.  To those Trump-haters who think I am questioning the morality of their acquiescence in, and worse, support of all that has transpired in this regard, let me dispel any doubt:  You bet your ass I am!!!”

How much more evidence of FB shadow banning has to come to light before Congress takes action?   Various statutes governing social media don’t go far enough and Trump’s EO alone won’t stop it because it will be branded by liberals as being self serving.  Reps and Senators need to show where they stand on the matter by passing amendments or a consolidating bill with teeth in it on a priority basis.  It will be interesting to see which politicians push to delay such action until after the Nov election.

Alleged FB document directs that priority be given to hiring Koreans and Chinese on H1-B Visas.  FB claims document is “inauthentic” but leaker’s explanation of how he came by the document and his motive for leaking it to Project Veritas impresses me as highly credible.

The PM might also be seeing an opportunity to confront India’s perennial enemy militarily in the current international climate of anger and distrust towards China.  It is situations like this that in the past national leaders have sought to exploit to strengthen their hand and in so doing triggered major wars.

So what's your version of the history of flu pandemics?

My comment was meant as a caveat emptor.  Given what has recently been revealed with respect to COVID-19 there are wide variances in case reporting criteria and compliance therewith across effected nations and between government stats and those developed in the private sector for the same population, there is good reason to question them all .  When one adds to the above the fact that the source of the data is a firm headquartered in the PRC and that the PRC has withheld relevant epidemiological data and internal study findings in the past while working assiduously to dispel the idea that epidemics including COVID-19 are spawned within its borders, it detracts even further from its credibility.

Why would you choose Sino Biological as the authoritative source over other choices?  Could it be because its findings tended to minimize the extent and severity of past flu epidemics, a number of which were thought to come from Asia or China itself, and supported your argument.  You can believe whoever you want to but Sino Biological would be my last choice.

Well it's been going for decades up in there. Not sure what the end game is with the poking India with a stick.  India sits on their oil and resource supply line from the Middle East and Africa.  If China really makes a serious go at the South China Sea region they have to secure that back door in the Indian Ocean as well.  I don't think the Aussies have much of a navy left but the Indians do - I *think* albeit a hodge podge of stuff from all over.

Good points.  I wasn’t up on the details of the most recent pissing contest in that area but it seems to have stemmed from India’s recent surveying and start of construction of a road through contested territory towards the Lipu Leke Pass into Tibet.  The tweets posted above state that “Indian territory is in the hands of foreign soldiers” which of course is land also claimed by Nepal.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Nepal asked China to occupy the position as part of its line of defense against India.  Of course it wouldn’t have taken much convincing for China to do so given its involvement in oil and natural gas exploration in Nepal and the strategic and religious importance of the Lipu Leke Pass.  Yup, this is yet another tinder box waiting for an intentional or unintentional spark.  We live in the “interesting times” referred to in the Chinese curse which I find just a tad ironic.

Aren't almost all important U.S. companies headquartered where labor is cheap?  Asked sincerely.

It’s not a U.S. company.  It was founded by Chinese in Singapore, moved its HQ to Beijing and is listed on the Hang Seng (Hong Kong) Index.  If it is not state controlled it is state influenced.  Figures lie and liars figure.

That report from a Delhi tv station with satellite pix changes my opinion.  I don’t know what the timeline has been in this apparent tit for tat drill but it looks like it could get out of hand.  Maybe Hunter can be persuaded to mediate for a nominal pay bump as a member of the board of the PRC National Bank.

It doesn’t make sense to me that China would be opening up another front for tension while being confronted in the South China Sea by the U.S. and allied nations.  I’m thinking that the tweet is domestic (Indian) anti-government propaganda.
