And of course it only serves to highlight just how shitty a host Noory is.... He's the Carlos Mencia of radio.
Hahaha, yes!

And Jimmy, I've been trying to catch up on your shows but time just hasn't been on my side. That said, I'm halfway in to your first show and totally digging the vibe. You have the conversation part down, something Noory has clearly forgotten about. Totally going to check out some more Fade To Black!

Listening now, Jimmy is talking about Noory poaching guests.

Jimmy, don't be scared of us over here  ;)

smithy

Remember how they did this at C2C when Art Bell returned? Guess what happened when Art left? They went back to vitamins. Now Jimmy's on their radar. I wondered how long it would take.

qaddisin

Haven't listened to Noory's C2C in about a year, since I couldn't handle the idiocy and the rude way he would handle some guests (flat out rude to a lot of female guests, dropping guests that seem over his head intellectually with no explanation, etc., etc.). I'll still try to catch Knapp, since he actually cares about his shows, and guest hosts to give them a shot.

You're doing a great job, Jimmy. I may not be able to catch every show live, but I'll always catch a replay at least once (sometimes twice). Thanks for the work you and your staff put in, and I'm glad you upped things to four shows a week. Even if Art doesn't come back, I'm just as satisfied with you continuing the job you do.

And from things I've heard, I wouldn't worry about the Birnes' ending up as Noory's guests.

It's been a while since I've heard Clifford Stone on radio. Jimmy Church is doing a great job -- every night. Wish Stone's voice was a little cleaner, less muffled. Otherwise, A-Class!

qaddisin

Seems I've lost the feed. Maybe PremRat's on the attack!

cool I caught the end of it live...

Ziz, its a good one. The guest was taken to secret room beneath the pentagon by monorail. In the secret room, sitting behind a desk, was a gray alien.

The alien may have been smoking a cigar.

ziznak

they had sex right? That sounds like beginning to a great porno!

qaddisin

Was that the one where Jesse Ventura and Alex Trebek were Men In Black?

Totally agree....so rude to some guests. And petty? The mainstream radio business seems more like a knife fight than a business, doesn't it? Seems also that women are only allowed on air if they are accompanied by their husband or at least by an older male authority figure. Typical, eh? And no one can be smarter than the host....not on mainstream anyway, eh?  lol Just another industry with testosterone poisoning, I guess.

with george its not hard to be smarter than the host. the secret to george is to arrange his 3x5 cards in a way so as to:
1. prevent him from making you look like an idiot.
b. prevent you from making him look like he  really is.
the problem is , george is still got 90% of tv beat, and he stomps on the lifetime network like the yankees playing a high skrool team.

RoseGirl

What is 'the lifetime network'? never heard of it.

its a tv network, mostly "drama movies" which IMO are poorly acted with worse plots. making early shatner acting look like gold.

Uncle Duke

The Clifford Stone interview last night was really good.  I didn't recognize the guy by name, but as we got into the interview I remember having heard him in the past.  In fact, what prompted me to recall having heard him was him getting emotional at the same point in his story as he had previously. Well, that and walking through a wall and seeing a gray sitting at a desk.

I would love to review Sgt. Stone's 201 file, lots of hidden clues there as to a soldier's "classified" past if one knows what to look for.  Can be more important what is omitted than what is included.

Can I get an opinion here?

Should I go w/jorch, Jim, perhaps a slug, or even some kind of underground faulskster rendition of my first acoustic broadcast?

It's not easy, but I'll do my best. I don't want skype overloaded from a cell phone on paid minutes. At best, I'll just get a good night's sleep. :-*

I apologize for the bad audio over the last two nights...with Ann Druffel and Clifford Stone last night...the issue has been resolved.  Of all things, it was a bad handset on one of the phone systems here and if anyone knows how this works you'll understand... the phone itself is not used...the routing goes through it, around it and back into it but you don't ever 'talk' on it...but, the signal does route through an external JK Audio interface and into the console.  The only thing you use the phone for is to dial a number...that's it...After hours of troubleshooting today it was sniffed out...poor Ann and Clifford had to deal with me saying 'speak up' for three hours... they were probably yelling into the phone and wondering what was up with me ... I do feel pretty bad, but...it's fixed now. Sound, glorious sound, that's what we live for...  j.

Well...hmmmm...this Thursday it will be Kerry Cassidy all by her lonesome...but, as I type this I'm thinking I've had quite a few pretty brilliant women on the show lately...Ann Druffel, Leslie Kean, Nadine Lalich...

Yep...totally agree...lots of brilliant women out there. 'Course, I did just spend almost an hour listening to callers reacting to a photo of 'Bigfoot's member' on DMRN. I think the show was called AFter Hours or After Dark or something. I mean really....I'm certainly no prude but....REALLY? Bigfoot's member?

Just makes us all into a bunch of yahoos, if you ask me. So stupid.

You certainly may.
My opinion is that you should stop posting.
Hope that helps.

I've had some tricky setups with JK's THAT-1 or THAT-2. they're not really designed for radio-style applications, but if you get the testing and the gain structure down, it works. too bad the handset hurt your audio.

Recently, I've been using some hybrid phone setups and those work much better. easier setup too. though the price difference between JK's handset product and their hybrid product is something like $300-- not exactly play money.

Anyhoo, been enjoying the show. It has a cool vibe too, don't know how else to explain it. Keep up the good work!

The next move will be full broadcast with built in telco...then we'll be burnin' on gasoline...two weeks we're installing.
