 Dietrich and his father never came up as important Ist Army Kimbro from Tripler Hawaii  The sickly Dietrich was never under US Navy care.  After his father was discharged from the US Navy he flew back to Taiwan to be with his "wife and child" and then Douglas was born.  They stayed 2  more years in Taiwan before heading back to San Fran in 1969.  His mother and himself were granted citizenship in 1976.  His elder sister Joyce is rarely mentioned.

I also like that it would appear that they had to just come up with a folding chair for DD and he wasn't sitting at the table. Like a last minute decision, "look just put a chair up there, if we don't let him up there he might freak out." Or maybe DD showed up and put a chair up there himself.
