Howdy

After striking out and succumbing to the sandman the last two Knapp shows, I feel like this may be a slow night in the thread.  Nonetheless it should be a good time.   8)

Cheers Gravity!  :D

Sunday - May 27, 2018

HOST
George Knapp

GUESTS
James Goodall, Radley Balko, Tucker Carrington

First half: The legendary SR-71 Blackbird spy plane was, and still is, the world's only operational Mach 3 aircraft, and was designed, built, and tested by Lockheed's famed ‘’Skunk Works.’’ A new book by James Goodall, world renowned expert on the Blackbird, the F-117 Stealth Fighter and Area 51, covers all fifty Blackbirds built, from the first flight in 1962, to the last in 1999. Goodall will discuss what he has learned from his sources after more than sixty years in the military aviation and aerospace field and his personal relationship with Area 51 whistle-blower Bob Lazar.

Second half: After two three-year-old girls were murdered in rural Mississippi, law enforcement pursued and convicted two innocent men. Together they spent a combined thirty years in prison before finally being exonerated in 2008. Meanwhile, the real killer remained free. Investigative journalist Radley Balko and criminal defense lawyer Tucker Carrington will recount the story of how the criminal justice system allowed this to happen, and how two men built successful careers on the back of a structure of injustice.

You probably would have never heard of almond milk if they had called it nut juice.

No no no.  I'm familiar with nut juice.

Thanks!

It's by Veggemo, mostly water, pea protein and proprietary blend of oil and starch.  In a carton.  It lasted without spoiling for some time in the fridge.  I am lactose intolerant, so from time to time i try other "milks".  Lactaid milk is ok, too.

This one definitely tastes vegetably, but i like it!  Trying to get protein in with very little fat at this meal!

You're welcome!

I honestly never heard of, nor have I seen pea milk before.  Learn something new every day.   ;D

I've heard not to eat veggies and fruit together?  Is that true?  Because I think I'm adding celery to the soup.

Nonsense.  Go ahead and mix fruit and veggies.  Seriously.  Erase that notion from your memory.

I am focusing on reviewing my eating habits, to connect them with my body.  For years, there was a disconnect.

Am I the only one who finds the merging of these scouts messed up?

No.  I do.  There is no need for it whatsoever.

He was 6 feet tall.  At least that's what he claimed on air.

What the fuck is he reading?

The legend of the Piasa Bird.  Didn't you know that Noory received many emails requesting this reading?   ;)   ;D

Does anybody else find the the caller named Eric incredibly annoying with the way he begins his call by shouting "Geeooorge!!!"  I heard Noory ask him not to do it a while back but he just keeps doing it.  I guess George just turns the volume down for a second when he answers his call.

Emotionally questionable people do these sorts of things.  I'd just boil it down to that.

Yep.  Any emotional port in a storm.

How do I get an mp3 from my computer onto a post as an attachment? I go to 'attachments and other options', choose a file, then 'insert attachment 1' then in 'preview' it says 'attachment not uploaded'. I've uploaded it to vocaroo to see if that would work but it doesn't.

I used this before for mp3's.  Uploaded the mp3's, then after I edited them how I wanted, I saved them, then just attached it.  It worked each time.  I have no computer skills so I was pretty happy.  LOL!  Hope it helps you.

I didn't give the link.  Oops.  :-[

Anyone know the name of the sci-fi series that was said to be inspired by Art Bell? Late 90s/early00s about some guy radioing from his outhouse.

I think it was Millennium.

I'm not talking meals but your groceries. You say what you want: 3 cans of sardines, a case of Hamm's, TP, bread, etc. You drive up and they put in your car. Or they deliver for free (for now, could be promo.) Same prices as going to store. I think done due to competition or loss leaders.

Understood and appreciated.  :)  ;)

By the way...

Are you part of BellGab's unofficial SardineFest2018?   ;D

I haven't done but know a lot of folks are doing (not sure how these companies are making a profit) but lots of the grocery stores allow you to order your groceries online and either pickup or even free delivery. This means one could develop a menu, order your items, and not buy stuff impulsively by seeing goods marketed in the store, or shopping when hungry, etc. You can also save your list and reorder same things weekly, also saving time and sticking to whatever diet.

It's my preference to see and handle my groceries in person rather than have someone just throw the ingredients in a box and send it to me.  I'd have more faith if it were the 'old times' and the local farmer or mom & pop store would send it to you.  As far as profits...they overcharge.  Some claim $9 a meal but it's usually more.  Might as well just spend it at a cheap chain restaurant.  They give you an illusion that they are experts in what you need.  I've seen some of their meal kits.  Laughable.  To me it's best to make a list, learn some simple cooking techniques, and physically get what you want and need as you need it, if able.  Aside from convenience I don't see how the service is useful.  Oh!  There is a service here that opened last summer and they will fill special needs.  Wow.  Anyone on a special diet will pay through the nose, and they do.  Some pay up to $30 per meal.  I think it's sacrilege when you could buy the same ingredients at a grocery store for half of that.  I could go on.   :-\

I started this thread hoping to have a supportive group for ladies especially, or anyone, struggling with doing their part in dieting and exercise plus getting enough sleep also for metabolism.

Perhaps you could've stated that in the very first post of the thread.   :D   But I get where you're coming from.   ;)
