Use a serious tone enforced by hand gesture and start with short distance (3ft, 5ft, 10ft, and so on). Only provide treats half of the time.
Eventually, you will be able to drop the voice command.
Great idea. Mix certainty and the possibility (not the guarantee) of a reward with declining sensory input needed. Currently I just have a cat that I have trained to sit and go to her bed on a small table, the "pedestal." with only a verbal command.

Oh FFS. I always envisioned Paul and Ella as two old geezers living out of an RV, now you're telling me he's just an almost-middle-aged neckbeard who still shops at Hot Topic and thinks Star Wars is a documentary.

Nothing feels real anymore.

Yes. I had same image. Mind blown. It is like meeting someone you've talked with at work only over phone in conference calls, etc and thinking, from the voice, "she's hot" and then meeting her in person and she is nothing like you suspected. I've had even a total race change before. Ha.

I lost my Himalayan twelve years ago in a divorce. She was my best friend.

Awww.  :'( I've always told people its possible to be as close to a cat as with a dog. What I've found with cats is you need a one to one friendship as they are more jealous. And plan on spending at least twice the amount of effort training - and they will respond only about 80 to 90 percent of the time even then. But they will always appreciate you.

Paul knows karate, be scared.

Ha!  Paul must look like a real badass, dressed in his Jedi robe, driving around KY in his police interceptor.

Damn voice hackers.
Instead of the dojo Paul might consider the remedial grammar night classes at the local JC?
ps: "voice hacking" is a real thing and easier and easier with the software out now but, seriously, who is going to spend the time and effort to due this to that guy? What, really, would be gained?

Probably. She's got me trained to put out her breakfast while I am more or less sleep walking in the dark.

Yep, dogs want to be trained.
Cats want to reach an agreement! lol

I don't think you loved the dog as much as you say you did.
You act like you would kill for that dog yet you didn't

Yeah, you're right.
He said he drove truck so I assumed he would have a real pet.
Nobody kills for a cat.

Exactly. Lots of songs about dogs. Can’t think of one about a dead cat.

yep, I let my ex keep our (my) dog because she moved to the country and I was traveling.
A few months later I go by and all happy ask "where's patches?".. she says he got hit by a car.
I won't even say what I wanted to do to her.
