i'm listening to Coast on NewsTalk 610 CKTB out of St Catharines, CA.  this is the station that i used to listen to Coast on back on 2010 when the BP oil spill was such a huge story.  i'm mildly nostalgic for that time.  it was basically the very beginning of my listening to Coast.  yes ... i know Art is the man.  i came late to the show.  thank god for Art Bell streams out there.  listening to Coast and i'm finding that there are a LOT of commericals.  but i'm also finding that i'm sad when the commercials end and GNoory starts running his mouth

Noory sucks

also ... i love beer

I had a doctor's note excusing me for missing school for "alcohol-related influenza"...in 6th grade. Good times, good times.

Thanks, I'd write a book about my life's contretemps...but in return, I'd be murdered or something even worse, like being sued.

My doctor put that in the note to shame me(and my parents) but being counterintuitive, I found it funny and took pride in it. 15 warm beers and bad chinese food had me residing on the porcelain palace for days.
Those days off were just 2 of my "53 unscheduled absences" of the 1987-88 school season.

Publish as "fiction" inspired by true events. As entertaining as your stories are, there's wisdom in them. Sorry for bein' cheesy.

That's not a bad idea, change a few names...it's like "Good Will Hunting" without the genius part or homosexual sub-text.

One of my friends was called "caca teeth", I can't change his name. And he got that name, not from poor hygiene, but an incident involving fire crackers and dog shit...and a quick fuse. And I confess to actually pissing my pants laughing. Usually you get ridiculed for that, but I think about 5 of us were guilty of it that day(July 4,1987), so it was ok.

Interesting how you always seem to remember specific dates.

I'm a "Rain Man". Hyperthymesia is the technical term,. I remember every day of my life vividly since I was 2...October 18, 1977(a tuesday) is the first day I can go back to. It's often associated with autism, but by some odd chance I'm not autistic. Just crazy.

Wow, that's crazy. Anything interesting happen on May 31, 1979?

It was a thursday, I was in pre-kindergarten. Nothing jumps out at me, but the week before on May 25, in Chicago, 275 people died in what was the biggest airline disaster in American history at the time. Uh...the Seattle Supersonics beat the Washington Bullets for the NBA title that weekend(Friday night June 1)

It's pretty cool. The drawback is that it basically comes hand in hand with ADD and insomnia, because my mind is always racing. But overall, it's a gift.
But you know how God works. I can't count cards because I have bad eyesight and can't stand crowds that casinos have...

God damn.  Is it like watching a movie in your head or do you see a calendar with events  mapped out on it or what?  How does this work?  It's hard for me to remember what I did yesterday sometimes.

You're pretty much on to it. Using the 5/31/79 date as an example. I distinctly remember the Chicago American Airlines plane crash on that Friday night of May 25, 1979. It was breaking news around 4:45pm in the East. So I'd zone in on that event and then other things follow...

The scary part...that a 3 year old was fully aware and consumed by a fucking plane crash. No wonder I'm such a neurotic. I got an early jump on anxiety.

Yes indeed, I remember watching "Later with Bob Costas" on Tuesday May 16,1989 when she told him about her ability. (Technically May 17- it aired at 1:30 am)

He did that annoying thing(for us freaks) by picking out a "random date" that wasn't random at all...his choice of July 20, 1969 was insulting. Jesus H Christ, the fucking moon landing!

And I don't buy her tale of losing her virginity on that night. Too convenient...and I doubt she lost her virginity at 17.

That's frightening and impressive at the same time (referring to your memory, not Marilu's sex life). You're like a human TV Guide. Paul McCartney was on that episode too. What did he sing? ;-) Seriously, you should sell books and tapes on infomercials, like the human calculator does. You could be a contestant on "Jeopardy" too. I have a gift for remembering useless information, but I'm an amnesiac compared to you scary people. BTW, do you recall the exact date when Coast officially jumped the shark?

I had the biggest crush on her in the 80's.  I was just a kid, but damn, I watched Taxi reruns just for her.

McCartney wasn't on that exact episode,I believe. However he did have an album Flowers in the Dirt forthcoming and new single "My Brave Face" out at the time. But the Henner thing became part of "best ofs" and may have been paired with his clip in that fashion.

Yeah, I'm a human calculator, too. Random numbers like say...37. That turns into 74,111,148,185,222,259,296,333,370,407,444,481,518,555 etc...except I spit it out rapid fire and generally only stop because I lose my breath after a minute or two.

C2C Coast jumping. For me, Art's first retirement on Tuesday 10/13/98 was it. Even though he returned by month's end, the show's stability was rattled. In other news, the Yanks beat the Indians in game 6 of the ALCS and the following day, the Padres beat the Braves in game 6 in Atlanta to set the stage for a New York-San Diego World Series, the most anti-cilmactic WS since A's-Reds in 1990. And Eric Rudolph became the suspect in those bombings....but not caught until 2003

Wow. There's only a handful of people on the planet who have that. I read that OCD sufferers share a kind of "hyper memory," but it isn't anywhere near what you're describing.

We're rare birds, like "Scanners" or something. And needless to say...I got OCD. That's the tradeoff for this type of "ability", is that you're very likely to be autistic, OCD, ADD. It's not normal brain activity. Everything is going at hyperspeed. I can read/retain a 500 page book in about half an hour...but you can easily become an joyless automaton doing shit like that.

Okay. I have OCD too, but unfortunately, my recall (with brutal clarity) only consists of past mistakes and times when I feel I've been slighted. Do you fixate on those types of things, and would you describe your unique memory as generally a negative thing?

I fixate on "the bad", as we obsessives tend to do. Real and imagined slights...so there's a high negative ratio, but it's not all negative(you'd never know it from the tenor of my posts)
