I grew up in Arcadia, I got lost at the Arboretum one time, tatoo found me so all was good. lol  ;)
Sometimes the peacocks from the arb would escape and make their way up to our street. It was fun watching a big male scream and shit on our roof

That kid disappearing behind the tree is so creepy. My worst nightmare as a father.

Really?  I was under the impression he had been discredited.  Maybe Art should invite Bob and John on MITD.  Especially John.

Not that I know of (Lazar being discredited), but YES, I look forward to Art interviewing Lazar!

Wait til he gets to the urban disappearances, the subject of his most recent book. The whole thing twists to a whole new level of weird.
I like that Paulides does not speculate as to cause. He's open to all possibilities, but won't settle for an explanation without evidence. I've heard all his (brilliant) Knapp appearances and his (dismal) Noory appearance. Noory of course was pushing all his pet explanations: abduction, Bigfoot, portals, angels, demons etc. Knapp has always respected Paulides' position. I hope Art won't push too hard for a neat 'explanation'. I like to just let the weird pile on weird - the same as with reading Paulides' books - and let the stories and the mute victims speak for themselves.
I almost forgot about the Noory interview... I knew it existed, but I did not remember hearing it.  You reminded me about him pushing his theories (hard) and it all came flooding back.

I think after his explanation for not putting his own theories out there, that Art will respect his wishes.

He doesn't sound like an ex cop, but he does have the whole "copstache" thing going on.

Pornstache, "Magnum P.I." stache came to mind.

So Park Rangers do more than chase bears who steal pic-ah-nic baskets?

I have also heard a theory that the people going missing are mostly handsome and smart. Also that their bodies end up in water most the time, when their bodies are found. Found weeks after they go missing. A conspiracy against the handsome I tell ya.

I used to love collecting peacock feathers when at the park. I never got a chance, but I always wanted to fish at the little lake there. I know they allow fishing once a year. Catfish GALORE!!!! Such a blessing to have grown up in the area. Also have family in Sierra Madre and San Marino.

I'm nowhere near the Outback. My camping places are no different to your national parks. Just with more deadlier snakes.

I'm not so worried about the snakes. I've seen the spiders you've got down there.

QuotePeople lost in the wilderness are not typical missing persons cases. Regardless of the age of the lost person, they prompt a quick search. The search for the Knoxville boy was the most massive in the park's history. But it was marked by errors and hampered by fog and flash floods.

Forty years later, the child's fate remains one of Tennessee's greatest mysteries.

That's just a rural thing. Any metal surface where I am has racist/misogynistic/homophobic shit spray-painted all over it and many of the road signs are shot up.

Oh totally, I get the road signs shot up thing. I just that to illustrate people are armed and a little wild in these places. Keep in mind this was literally 30-40 miles away from any other form of humanity or property. I'm not saying it was anything, just saying it got my attention and illustrates some crazy stuff is going on out there.

Another part of the story is I got detoured off the main desolate road onto backroads which took me an extra two hours to navigate out of. So the vibe of getting diverted off the scary main road onto terrifying back roads with nothing but a compass in the middle of nowhere and then coming across this crazy bullshit made me wonder if a movie was going to be made about my tragic story in a few years if anyone ever even knew what happened.

I always wanted to swim in the lagoon, but of course, that wasn't allowed. They did let Johnny Weismiller swim, tho

That sounds like the thing they used to call 'the smiley face killers'

Art is a master of eating up the quarter hours.  I bet he has great TSL.

Uncle Duke

His story about sending FOIA requests to the "Department of the Army" in the Martin case is new.  I'd like to see copies of those requests, particularly what office(s) they were sent to.
