I think it was just a natural request from Art since he made the decision not to make a deal with several large terrestrial stations.  I think it is interesting and I'm flattered he even includes us in this process, just like the blitz! I don't see any type of issue with the request...just Art including the BellGabbers! Trust me, Art is not desperate!  8)

That is sort of how I see it too.

Well, it would seem to me that Art is not happy with so called "natural growth", otherwise I see no other reason for his most recent post, no?

i love him, but think he is an artiste' , meaning status quo is just alright, while more would be better. i dont have a problem with that at all.
i feel his message is possibly being misinterpreted as a cry for help. For the third time, his post about this was not at all clear.

Sounds like a collection of half baked gimmicks to me. What is wrong with the idea of natural growth. Im sorry, but I dont think any of us know what the situation really is. Specifically, is the show sustainable in its present configuration or not? I repeat, Art's last email delivered two divergent (at least in my mind) messages.

I don't think we are talking about any money driven scheme here. However that said, Art posted what he did for a reason don't you think?

Obviously what he is referring to is "marketing" of MITD, no? ...and sadly yes, doing something like he does costs$$ and I would bet he would like to make some too.

Dont know what the reason for his post was, honestly.  In part one, all is ok, in part 2, there is an issue. Is it a show stopping issue, or is it a desire to grow. If it is a desire to grow, I think he is being impatient. If it is a show stopping issue, then......

The idea of becoming more commercial sucks big time. Dont sell more commercials, dont engage in normal marketing practices. Just let time do its magic, if it doesnt work out, it wasnt meant to be. I would hate to see this degenerate into a money driven scheme.

BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME

I think Art did a fine job. Robbins could have been a great guest but he opted for being melodramatic.

We were all frustrated. Art was frustrated. Rightly so. The paranormal field, as with any other discipline, is rife with petty drama and personality conflicts. Having a debate is good but Robbins alone and his behavior -- no, please.

Robbins needed to be taken to task. Hell, I think a bunch of them, from Ed Dames to even RCH, need the same dressing down.
Hell yes. Too many clowns make too many ridiculous claims

A wretched show. Made me feel bad. Art, you should have switched to open lines after the third time he brought up the alleged dispute.

The OP to my comment, Cronaut, fancies himself to be a deep-thinker. For this sentance;
> "The subscriber model is the essence of what’s good about capitalism"<
to have passed his/her lips without ringing "odd" to his/her own ears, makes me question the consciousness or access-to-coffee of that author.
I see where you are coming from now.Dont quite get the quote either,

You do understand that I'm using this excuse to comment/rant on the over-all and now all-pervasive-ness of the practice or option now become manditory/obligatory/default and forevermore, as-in henceforth and for all eternity.

But, gee... you only pay if you want to. Its not that hard to harvest the show for free in digital form if you want to do that.

I take the opposite position, why should it be free? Seriously ! It takes a lot of work on the part of many people to produce the show. People should pay. However, Art is being magnanimous and is giving it to us, with the OPTION to pay.

I think he's being careful and meticulous. Could you explain (as if I'm 5) about the pulse and the Fourier transforms? Would they be visible with the right ... readout? Radar?

Its really fairly simple. A diode normally conducts in one direction, however there is a statistical probability that an electron, every now and then, can "tunnel" in the opposite direction. The frequency of this occurrence is thought to be totally random. This signal is an ordinary flow of electrons that can be amplified by conventional means. Fourier transform cant be explained simply, you will have to google that for yourself. Suffice it to say that the Fourier transform ( which is used all the time in scientific instrumentation), will  give more information about the signal, like phase and amplitude. Its not easy to explain, but it all is grounded in perfectly legitimate science.
What is unique about this approach is that it normally the random pulses are then converted into random numbers through a computer algorithm, here, the phase and frequency (and amplitude) is preserved and plotted. I think this is an absolutely brilliant application of basic physical principles to arrive at truly random analog signals. Quite often the hardcore scientists have objected to the numbers generated by random number generators because they feel they are not truly random. This new approach, as I understand it, gets around all of these objections while at the same time adding depth (phase, amplitude, frequency) to the data. Brilliant.

I know this was not a 5 year old explanation, but it is not an easy thing to comprehend. I am an analytical chemist and use high resolution Fourier transform mass spectrometers in my daily work, so I have had a bit of exposure to the topic.

She's an odd one. Very free with her opinions, which is fair enough, but gets bent out of shape if anyone else dares to utter the slightest criticism.
Yes, have noticed that. It was a bit irritating because from my perspective, he didnt say anything that was outrageous by any stretch.
The most fascinating part of the entire show for me was the ingenious method of doing a Fourier transform of the electron tunneling in Zener diodes. Will be interested to hear how the Burning Man experiment goes. Seems like this approach offers a greater depth to the data than mere random number generators.

I don't know, but one sure reason to ground the fleet,  would involve missiles being fired at commercial  airliners.

unless the reason was known!! geez . then why ground anything? This is exactly what happened. The explanation of design flaw caused explosion does not make sense. Sorry.

The NTSB and FBI got it exactly right. It was the center fuel tank. I just don`t think there`s anything to see here. The lead fire and explosives investigator at the time, James Folly, is, and was, "absolutely 100% certain" it was the center fuel tank.

The FBI thoroughly investigated the missile and/or bomb theories and completely debunk both. There`s just nothing to go on here. Birnes and Sanders are out to lunch on this one. But, maybe they`ll still make a shekel or two from pedaling their little book.

Interesting video:

so explain why there was not a grounding of the fleet. makes zero sense to me unless another reason was known. you cant explain this away with your proclamations.
#166
The single, most damning aspect that points directly to a coverup is the fact that the entire 747 fleet was not grounded.

They seem to be making the argument that it was a United States Navy platform that shot that plane down. I`m here to tell you, that is an absolute impossibility. It just could NOT have happened ...for a thousand different reasons. It`s completely absurd and, frankly, insulting that they would even attempt to construct such a bizarre scenario.

Tell that to the people on Iran Flight 665. I dont know what happened to Flight 800, but to make blanket statements about this seems a bit unwarranted to me. Mistakes do happen.

I've written 17 blogposts on Hoagland's Accutron nonsense. Here FYI is the timer device he uses:

http://www.bmumford.com/mset/modelwatch1.html

I've been in e-mail contact with Brian Mumford and he reckons Hoagland's Accutron is simply broken. It would be a credible explanation for the fact that he recorded the wildest frequency excursions ever (from 14.531 to 949.586 Hz) at Tikal in April 2009, at a time when there was no eclipse or transit in progress. His theory, as far as he has expressed it, depends on the interactions of massive rotating bodies.

http://www.enterprisemission.com/images/mayantorsion/image006.png

Among the many, many problems I have with his idea is that, if it were true, most musical instruments would go out of tune during eclipses and transits. That doesn't happen as far as I know.
Hoaglands' watch is not all that is broken. I actually listened to one of his recent shows, his delusions about "the physics" and how its changing is nauseating. He latches on to the most sensational bullshit and then tries to spin yarns about how it all works according to his ever changing physics. He needs a major physic.

I really wish we had 3 hours of Rogan.
Yes, I agree 100%. He acquitted himself nicely. Seems to be very conversant in most Bellesque topics and appears to be a genuine human being. Im thinking stand in host.

Just finished listening and really enjoyed the show.  It had the right amount of batshit craziness to quench my craving whilst aboard. Vive le Art Bell.

Bat shit crazy is about right. The Joe Rogan part was fabulous, part II sucked big time for me. It was tedious bullshit.

I didn't belittle Ham Radio. Do you have to get an engineering degree to be a Ham radio operator? Maybe you do I don't know. I don't doubt that it's no simple thing.
I had to take 5 written exams and two morse code tests when I got my license. The point is, ham tickets arent just handed out. There is quite a bit of theory that accompanies getting a license.

Art is a broadcaster and Ham operator/ antenna builder who has a good basic understanding of the fundamentals of sound. He's not an engineer!

Nice how you belittle ham radio the way you did. I suggest you look at the ARRL handbook once, and then shut up

C'mon, it hardly needs decryption. When the world is still standing by the end of September, all the doomsayers will have to scramble to account for the fact that their predictions were hopelessly wrong. There will be brief pause before the same idiots will start another panic about 2017. All very predictable.

many interpretations are possible. Communications is an art, leaving things so undefined invites misunderstandings.

I disagree. I believe Seth described it fairly well in layman' terms.

Sorry, he was dead wrong. The speed of light is the speed of light. It takes a finite amount of time to travel a given distance. It takes light from our sun 8 minutes to get here. So, you and Seth think that by some magic a "craft" traveling near light speed would arrive any faster. Bull shit. He tried to get too cute with the twins paradox, and screwed it all up. I know what he was getting at, but woefully misled most.
#178
Think Seth baby got it wrong . Traveling near the speed of light it would take nearly 1400 years to get to said planet from the perspective of the people in the spacecraft. Time in their frame doesn't change.

I'm calling bullshit on how he claimed the great pyramid was built. There isn't a cart made that will haul stones the size used in its construction. Has to be more to it than this. The lake theory makes some sense though.

I really like my Windows Phone and usually I don't have any problems when it comes to apps. The ones I use are available and work just fine.

I was very satisfied until yesterday. No app I tried can handle MITD rss feed. Tried with all combinations of username:password posted by sbaustin and none of them did anything (each app I tried had a different way to tell me the link is either invalid or no feed was found).

I don't understand the whole "app gap" on Windows. It's a very good OS, it's fast, has all the options a phone should have, the phones themselves have very good cameras, even the cheaper models and I see more and more people with Lumias. There's a 75% chance that when I meet someone new, (s)he will have Windows. Why is its market share is still around 3% is weird. Are people so much used to seeing icons on their start screens and are so afraid of tiles? Tiles rock ;)

Windows 10 Mobile will support apps written for iOS (app will need only to be recompiled by the author) and Android (users will be able to load .apk files directly) so most problems of non-existing apps will go away, but it's kind of a weird solution...

Happiest day of my life was when I threw my windows phone in the trash. Got tired of the multitude of weird work arounds. Windows, like android platforms are like dealing with "software by committee" solutions. Nothing is integrated really. That is why I like IOs. You have to jump through hoops to have software live on it, and the result is a concept that works well most of the time. It has foibles to be sure, but the aggravation level is infinitely lower than my Windows or android days.
