Proxy to watch BBC?

Started by UnscreenedCaller, July 11, 2014, 11:47:22 AM

I'm running Chrome on my laptop, and I want to use a proxy to watch BBC shows, free preferably. I could use CoverMyAss.com but it requires a subscription which I'd like to avoid. Here's my problem: I can look up proxies and get a sock5 or sock4 if available but Chrome is giving me a hard time.

I downloaded switchy proxy and ran it, got a proxy, plugged it in and ... nothing. All the online advice said to go to Settings and change th e proxy setting by putting in an address. But, Chrome doesn't allow me to do that unless I uninstall switchy proxy. And if I do that, I'm unclear which address to put in there - the particular sock5 address  I found, or something else? And then reinstall switchy proxy?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm stumped b/c this isn't working for me as advertised.
