Quote from: FLLFlash on November 26, 2015, 11:57:11 PMMrs. Flash has tried various herbals on me. I'll have to check if this is one of them.
Quote from: WanagoBleu on November 27, 2015, 12:06:19 AMmake sure it's well sourced and fresh. Old herb, or improperly prepared, will render it ineffective. Good and well made Arnica salve will help cut the pain. I trained at the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine in Bisbee AZ years ago. The owner, te late Michael Moore was a BRILLIANT herbalist. Miss him.

Matter of fact, while I was living in a mining shack there doing this work, I could get any radio signals in the hole I was in. But I could listen to Art over t he internet on my computer. Loved listening to him in the middle of the night.

Quote from: Walks_At_Night on April 18, 2016, 08:52:00 PMA little bonus baby update.  Perhaps some may recall my polling for advice on the young fellah that sits next to me at work.

Guy came into work today well around 10AM looking like hell and smelling worse.  He mumbled something about a rough
weekend down in Myrtle and got sick in his rubbish can. He went  home by 10:30.  He earned a new nickname today -
"Johnny Football" for his Manziel-ness.

In a fascinating development they announced a big new project starting soon.  By chance or by design
my employer has denuded each site so much that none can handle it on their own.  So we'll have Euro's, Aussies, China
and good old team USA pulling oars.  The lad will have his first real piece of work and lucky me will get to be his mentor.

To top it off, we'll have a nightly 10PM call with our good friends in the PRC.  I do believe that might cramp the boy's
nightlife - we shall see.  Only thing worst for him would be dealing with the Euro's - I think that call is like at 7:00AM.
I'd have rather pulled working with the Aussies because they are a hoot but I know the Chinese all too well.

If anything interesting happens, I'll keep the thread abreast of developments in an effort include some non-Senda
juiciness.  I work in a pretty uptight industry and this kind of shit really doesn't happen.  It has turned into a Springer
episode and can only get better until the inevitable crash happens.

Quote from: Vatar on November 20, 2011, 10:02:12 PMI've always wondered how much electricity and water is wasted by spirits turning lights and faucets on.  I think the EPA should do a study to measure the impact of paranormal activity on global warming.

Quote from: Ursamajr on October 10, 2013, 10:45:01 PMI experienced a bit of a time blip or jump or burp or something once... was riding an escalator with a friend. It was a barnes & noble in manhattan - 4 floors and every floor you get off and turn onto the next escalator. Open plan so you can see the floors as you ride up/down. we were going up to get off on the third floor and then all of a sudden we were on the fourth. No third. skipped it completely. We both looked at each other and without any words just looked at each other with a couple of "wtf?!" faces. To this day we both are pretty clear it was just some weird blip.

Too boring of a story to call and share with Art though.

Quote from: Up All Night on March 20, 2014, 10:09:24 PMA possible murder/suicide theory would be that the (crazy) pilot killed his co-pilot, disabled the transponders, etc, and programmed the plane on a flight path to nowhere in the Indian Ocean, that included going to an altitude that would kill everyone, including the pilot early on. The plane would eventually run out of fuel, and drop into the ocean, along with all of the (now dead) passengers.

Quote from: UnscreenedCaller on August 28, 2013, 07:58:37 AMI can remember when the Leopold and Loeb case was an anachronism, something so depraved and out of the ordinary that it called the crime of the century, and spawned multiple book and movie treatments. And now, depraved thrill killings happen just about every day. When I was in high school, we were assigned 'The Banality of Evil' by Hannah Arendt. I didn't understand it too well then, but now I do. People like the ones who beat that poor old vet to death or the Oklahoma jerks who wanted to kill someone should be culled from society for the rest of their lives, no chance of parole. After that, I couldn't care less what happens to them in prison.

In my own anecdotal experience, my contemporaries who served in Vietnam were overwhelmingly white, but most of them pre-empted the draft and opted for Air Force or Navy. Some did ROTC while it was still on campus, too.

Quote from: Textor on July 23, 2015, 01:24:32 AMAssuming that the rocks are, in fact, large contained structures, you'd think that the advanced civilization that built them could have come up with a technology to prevent corrosion. But, no, they have to rust and corrode or the random rock ridges won't be broken domes.

Quote from: towerjunkie on July 23, 2008, 05:03:35 PMThe closest experience I've had to the supernatural has occurred at my work (concierge at retirement facility, which shall go unnamed).

There's a room where for unexplainable reasons (maintenance, other workers have checked it out for problems), the emergency call button has alerted me on three different occasions.

Once when the room had no one living in it and two other occasions when it did have someone living in it but they weren't present when it happened.  And if it was a prank, it's a pretty goddamn good one because I and the people that live there are the only ones with keys, and it remains otherwise locked.

And the room only does it when I'm working, fortunately the first time it happened though I had a few witnesses so at least I'm not the only one who's experienced it.

Quote from: TomBl on August 14, 2015, 11:29:18 PMIf time travel works, why not go back to 11-22-1963 and stop the Kennedy assassination in Dallas.  It would be so simple to do.  The motorcade was led by the Sheriff Bill Decker and Chief of Police Curry.  They were in the lead car.  As the lead car passed the Old Red Courthouse, there was an assembly of Sheriff's Deputies there, including Bill Wiseman and Al Maddox.  Someone could run up to one of the Sheriff's Deputies and tell them there was a man with a rifle pointed out of a building a block away.  With that, they would have stopped the motorcade, taken the President, First Lady, Gov. Connally and Mrs. Connally into the Courthouse and the Sheriff's office and served them coffee.  There would have been no Kennedy assassination.

Quote from: TigerLily on July 29, 2015, 11:41:08 PMHey, I don't want to sound weird but....oh what the hell.  I have had a bunch of OBE's.  Can pretty much do it at will, if in the right frame of mind.  Best one was in a psychic workshop and had about a dozen people confirm what I was seeing.  Going ahead and putting (not) all the cards on the table, also have had a lot of ghost experiences (I grew up with a ghost), clairvoyant dreams, past life memories including dying etc.  I know sounds like BS but all true, promise.  TMI?

Quote from: ThruTarmac on November 18, 2013, 06:18:40 AMGood googly morning!

I lived in Portland OR back in the 90's. Did a short stint in a Kinkos there for the overnight shift. It was a tiring, boring job, and the only things that kept it interesting were the whacked out homeless people that crept into the store to use the bathroom, like the old guy Orion, and....Art Bell's Coast to Coast.

This was late '93 to early '94. FUCK! 20 years ago.

So, I become a fan and listened regularly, or at least when I could. I remember how popular he was becoming (maybe 1995-96 I think) when I went to some guy's house to look at a shitcan, old Volvo to buy. The Volvo owner had to cut my inspection of the car short because it was Sunday night, and he and his roommate (these guys were in their 50's or 60's) had to get into the house to listen to Art's Dreamland. What's even funnier, I was thinking the exact same thing as I was standing there at the old Volvo--Art's coming on soon, and I gotta go.

I still feel the same way, even now, 20 years later--Art's coming on, and I gotta go.

Quote from: K_Dubb on January 31, 2023, 03:09:33 PMMy little sister in Alaska died last month.  She was fat with a history of respiratory infections but she trusted her immune system and thought she'd had it already.

Please remember my two nieces who have to grow up without a mother, my stupid BIL who has to live with what he did, and my poor dear mother who does not deserve this grief.  This is so stupid and heartbreaking and senseless.
At first I was happy to see you posting again, K.  But such sad news.  My condolences to you and your family.  May your little sister Rest in Peace.

Quote from: The General on August 21, 2010, 05:14:22 PMGold's long-term track record is really bad.
The average lifetime annual growth of gold is only 2.14%.
All of the money made by investing in gold has been since 2001.

This from Jeremy Siegel's book "Stocks for the Long Run".....

One dollar invested in bonds in 1801 would yield $13,975 today.
One dollar invested in stocks in 1801 would be worth $8.8 million today.
