Here is an article from Gawker by Ryan Tate about what jerk Steve Jobs was.
What Everyone Is Too Polite to Say About Steve Jobs

I'm tired of the tech media lionizing this man.

Apple made havoc of the price of e-books.  They are the reason you'll go on Amazon and find a hardcover cheaper than the e-book.

And we have a  little better tech world because of it.

I think what you are referring to was his last broadcast. There has never been an official statement from Art on this. Even though it is probably true.

No Art did not post an official statement, but he did post (if I remember correctly) a webcam shot of him indicating as much.  Someone, I am sure, remembers more clearly.

I was looking at audio players on Newegg recently.  Here is the list of audio formats the ipod touch supports:
QuoteAAC (8 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), HE-AAC, MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, 4, Audible Enhanced Audio, AAX, and AAX+), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV

And now the Archos 4.3 Internet Tablet - 8GB
Quote
• MP3 CBR & VBR
• WMA, WAV (PCM/ADPCM), AAC3
• AAC+ stereo audio files
• OGG Vorbis
• FLAC
Many similarities, but I think I like the FLAC and Ogg Vorbis support on the Archos is a winner for me.  The average Ipod user probably doesn't care what format their music comes in.

The Saturday edition is the only edition of C2C I have been listening to for the past 4 or 5 years.  I was not surprised to hear that he was offered the top spot when Art checked out.  He is a better interviewer (than Nooron) and interacts with callers with tact and patience.  I'll miss Saturday Nights with Ian.

Detainee Amendment Defeated in Senate; Sen. Paul Forced Voice Vote to Prevent Erosionn of Constitutional Rights
Sen. Rand Paul prevented the passage of an amendment that would have further eroded Americans' constitutional rights. Offered to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal 2012 (S.1867), amendment No. 1274 would have allowed the U.S. government to detain an American citizen indefinitely, even after they had been tried and found not guilty, until Congress declares an end to the war on terror.

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski publicly supported usage-based pricing in December, a victory for cable companies concerned that usage-based billing would run afoul of net neutrality rules prohibiting Internet services from favoring one form of content for another.

Technology / Re: Awaiting the Roku NetFlix Player
November 28, 2011, 02:53:40 AM
Both Western digital and Roku released new editions of the products discussed in this thread.
Info on the Roku 2 can be found here. The design is more compact.  One thing I did find interesting is, only the RokuXS has an ethernet port.  I prefer to stream my content from an wired connection, so I would probably get the highest price model.  For those on a budget the RokuLT is a nice alternative.

The WD TV Live info can be found here.  WD has a new form factor for this product. This version comes with Netflix, as well as other online services.  New with this edition is built in WIFI.

I think I'll stick to my older editions of these products.  They still haven't broken (knock on wood), and they still suit my needs at this time.

Those were truly amazing nights.  I lived in the MST at the time.  Art went from 12am till 5am.  I didn't like the changes to the length and time of the show when he came back.  It felt like inflation.

few presidents have foreign policy "experience" when taking office.  i wish this measurement would go away when candidates are evaluated.
Agreed, this is why presidents hire people into their administrations who are experts (ideally) in their field.
Hillary was a poor choice for Sec. of State.  That was a political decision, and one not based on her experience in foreign policy.  Although, the press, and her supporters tried to rationalize her nomination by saying how much time she spent at the white house during the 1990s.

Listening to old shows where Dames appears is lots of fun. He's so wrong about EVERYTHING.
I agree, it is a kick to listen to Dames B.S. everyone.  Dames was fun to listen to in '96-'98, but after that he just got lame. One a biggest frauds C2C ever had.

Sat 06-11

The Roman Catholic Church is the largest organization in the world, yet the Vatican has never revealed its net worth. The value of its works of art, great churches, properties, and stocks runs into tens of billions of dollars. Author Jason Berry tells Ian Punnett what happens to the money dropped in the collection basket on Sunday mornings.
