Things that bring me joy....

This latest gimmick by InBev to increase the volume of their big beers to include "an extra once" from the standard 24 fl oz- to a whopping 25 fl oz. (The 32oz Highlife has been done but tends to warm up too quickly, even when swilling it.) I admit that little bit extra is nice after a day working in the yard and picking up some ice-down Busch from the trough at the gas station while refilling gas can and refueling (cheap gas now- so stock up.)

But funnier when watching the attendant bitch restocking chiller because the cans are, just slightly, taller so had to refigure shelving. And, yes, though I like micro-brews, imports, IPAs etc. Sometimes a ice cold, cheap American adjunct beer hits the spot.

... adjunct beer?
basically using things like rice, corn, wheat etc instead of just barley, hops, and water. Used for cost reasons or for aesthetic reasons (clear or more foamy, etc) or to increase ABV cheaply (ex: American malt liquor.) Not necessarily a "bad thing" (some expensive, old, or craft beers use them) but poo-pooed and derided by some beer aficionados as commonly used by the "big brewers" for the popular brands.

This story is so sad that it's funny.

Cops kill cow after wild chase through Pocatello's north side

http://m.idahostatejournal.com/news/local/cops-kill-cow-after-wild-chase-through-pocatello-s-north/article_5c4c760c-823f-11e4-90e5-bfe6578ed668.html

It brings me joy to quote/paste a portion of the text in this particular thread.

Marchand said he’s very thankful the pursuit ended with no injuries to people.

The incident began around 12:40 p.m. at Anderson Custom Pack, a meat processing business at Garrett Way and North Main Street. When an Anderson employee prepared to slaughter the cow, it jumped over a 6-foot fence and ran across Garrett Way and then north up Hawthorne Road.

Anderson employees dialed 911 and within minutes the cow was being pursued by Pocatello police and animal control units on Hawthorne.

Police officers and witnesses said that at one point the cow was running up the middle of Hawthorne Road, nearly causing accidents.

The cow eventually left Hawthorne and headed west on Quinn Road where it retreated to a resident’s backyard on the road’s south side.

A police officer then shot the cow in the head, but instead of succumbing, the animal bolted past the police cars that were supposed to block its path out of the yard. The cow crossed

to the north side of Quinn and ran through OK Ward Park.

With several police and animal control officers in pursuit on foot and in vehicles, the cow emerged onto Henderson Lane from the park and headed north.

Police and animal control officers spent the next several minutes chasing the cow on Henderson and adjoining streets.

They eventually cornered the cow in the backyard of a house at Henderson and Jessie Clark lanes. A police officer shot the cow again in the head, and this time the animal died instantly.

That cow deserved a reprieve. I'm sure Cruelty to Animals charges are pending yes?

Just another example of unecessary white cop against black violence. I think all black cattle need to march on the streets. Then again, the cow had it coming since it had just held up a slaughterhouse.

Fuck all cows.  They've been around as long as we have, and while we've invented the HDTV cows have contributed the square root of sweet fuck all to civilization.

It took humans to figure out a use for them.  Delicious steaks.

I have no time for a species like the cow.

Well, no... unless you catch and kill your own meat.

Humans are basically scavengers.

Cows are a species now?  How do they reproduce when they all have uteri?

Well, yes... Velociraptors ate meat, I eat meat... ergo in that respect I'm like a Velociraptor. I make no claims to being totally like a Velociraptor.  If I were... I'd be a Velociraptor, and there would be no "...like a Velociraptor" about it.  I'd have straight out said, "Dude, I'm totally a Velociraptor"

The fact I was using a simile should have been all the clue you needed.

Am I really having this discussion?

Heather Wade

This is all happening in your mind, Kelt.

I was just being pedantic, in a "I'm trying to quit smoking" sort of way. Don't worry about it.

Kelt

I worry about everything... I'm a very caring person.

Puppies, Kittens, children and cartoon forest animals can sense that in a person, and I'm often seen walking down the street with an entourage of animated bunny rabbits, squirrels, and bluebirds like the Darkie* in The Song of the South.

* Not my choice of words... this was the 40s, remember.

Daggit

The smell of bookshops.

Sadly I don't get to experience that too often anymore.

Getting ready for the Winter Solstice! I just finished putting up our Yule tree- evergreens the symbol of immortality- I choose to decorate ours in an earthy style to reflect harvest and rebirth. The Winter Solstice is a night for family, celebration, introspection, and planning for the future. I wish you all a very joyous celebration in the traditions that you follow. I wish comfort to all those who may be struggling in life. I hope they are remember and blessed with the help that they need.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind for when I am 90 and may need a little help.
