ACE of CLUBS

Old one .... may have been mentioned already.

Mike Oldfield ....... 'Tubular Bells'

spellerine

A few that I think would be excellent choices for Art...not sure how many of these have been suggested already, but they resonate with me as being MiTD material, espeically the first and last selections:

Nina Tempo and April Stevens - Deep Purple

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkVqCS64joo
(Pre-1972 :( but I feel like this must have been played by Art at some point...am I imagining things?  It just has that feel to it.)

Linda Rondstadt - Heartbeats Accelerating

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmhkYwuGRcw
(sort of reminds me of Abba, but with a mysterious vibe)

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss - Trampled Rose

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHoRKb8hajg
(written by Tom Waits.  Nice spooky-desert sounding song.)

Talking Heads - Slippery People

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSEJUkQR6OQ

Pink Floyd - Keep Talking

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFZxm09G87E
(another where I'm thinking, surely Art played this at some point...it suits his show so well IMO..."all we need to do is make sure we keep talking")

I am sure I could think of alot more, but those are what I've come up with tonight!

Thats one of the most intense songs ever.  If I had a radio show, I might start some of my shows with it.  It's from the Imaginary Day album.  When I first heard this I soared like an eaglet or something, it's freaking cool.

And one of my favorite bands of all time, musician's musicians:  Weather Report:

Danger!UFO

I posted this on the Art Bell thread but I thought I should post it here.
I think it would fit somewhere on the show. Great classic Elton John from the 'Caribou' album.

Elton John
I've Seen The Saucers

(Elton John / Bernie Taupin)

Tune in, wouldn't it be something
Rumors spreading into panic
I've seen movements in the clearing
Someone sent you something satanic

I have to leave you, radar's calling
Outside somebody landed
Crazy wavelengths leave you helpless
Oh don't forget me I'm so stranded

I wouldn't fool you but I've, I've seen the saucers
So many times I'm almost in tune
Watching them flying in formation
Thinking how I could be so immune

I've seen them, I've been there with them
I can tell you all you want to know
Something touched me and I was only sleeping
Wouldn't you, wouldn't you like to go?

Star climbing into their planets
Systems won, controlled from birth
Empty living on this highway
Can you see me mother earth?

It's so endless whirling on wards
Wonder what's cooking at home tonight
Maybe if I promise not to say a word
They can get me back before the morning light

I wouldn't fool you but I've, I've seen the saucers
So many times I'm almost in tune
Watching them flying in formation
Thinking how I could be so immune

I've seen them, I've been there with them
I can tell you all you want to know
Something touched me and I was only sleeping
Wouldn't you like to go?

HorrorRetro

I posted this way back there, so I don't know it might have got lost in the shuffle of music threads. I like how Moroder blends Call Me in Night Drive. Plus the title Night Drive seems to fit.

Giorgio Moroder - Night Drive (American Gigolo Soundtrack - 1980)

One of my all-time favorites, Iron Maiden's Strange World. Some mysterious and reassuring lyrics in this one.

Art I can imagine you only need about 30 seconds or so to decide if a track is something you'd use on the show. Any winners so far?

The Killers - Jenny was a Friend of Mine

"Jessica" by the Allman Brothers: inspired by a bouncing toddler, recording released in 1973, "Jessica" has always made me feel like I'm setting out on a wonderful trip. I humbly submit the suggestion of "Jessica" as an intro instrumental.

Great song, I've used that in the past, and I know Clyde Lewis does too. All you have to do to make it a bed is loop from about :23 to :39.

Let's not forget Loreena McKennitt. spoooooky.

Mother Earth by Within Temptation:

goes well with earth changes and natural disasters

The Visitors by ABBA (our favorites!!!!!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1hK8CWlYcA
could be used with Alien Abductions & UFOs

Our Love is On the Fault Line by Crystal Gayle (another of our favorites!!!!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJk05QQ161A
could be used with earthquake predictions and such

Animal Instinct by the Cranberries

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfM_SK8-d8o
always think of this tune when the topic is genetic experiments or mutations

Uninvited by Alanis Morissette

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=769-eek5Cw8
alien abductions, spectral visitors, etc.

I always love when the bumper music sets the tone for the coming discussion.

Might be cool for coming back from break...

Full moon is rising...
The sky is black...

Judas Priest - Desert Plains

Red Planet by Alvvays

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_v96qs-wYU

Not actually about Mars (at least I don't think so), but a really atmospheric sound/vocal that could really fit the show.

Lazarus- Porcupine Tree (Lyrics)

Blackfield - Blackfield

Blackfield - Oxygen [HD] (with lyrics)

Porcupine Tree - The Rest Will Flow

Porcupine Tree - Last Chance To Evacuate Planet Earth Before It Is Recycled [HD Audio]

The last tune features samples from Marshall Applewhite (leader of the Heaven's Gate cult) starting at around 2:26.  It's rather creepy and chilling, yet some of it actually makes sense taken out of context, in a strange way.
