Talk of the Nation on NPR

Started by West of the Rockies, June 27, 2013, 02:02:14 PM

Just listened to the sign-off for the last ever Talk of the Nation on NPR (with Neil Conan).  Science Friday will continue (thankfully!), but I will miss those two hours of usually informative news coverage.  I thought Conan tried to play both sides of the fence too often -- maybe that was his task a host of the show, but I'd have welcomed a bit more confrontation with guests when one said something clearly untrue or foolish.

Anyway, it was a bit like the last episode of MASH or Mary Tyler Moore.  I'll miss that show.  Something new will replace it, of course, but it's rare to get a long, fairly informed non-partisan conversation on current events.

If anyone wants to listen to some old Talk of the Nation a lot of them are on archive.org.

Really good stuff especially the science Friday ones. The 9-8-95 show is even about UFOs and abductions. Highly recommend it.
