Throw in a quick allusion to a shower after dustbowl work and ladies might actually pay more attention...

I'm pimpin' it old school, girl...but not that old school. 8)

I started this thread hoping to have a supportive group for ladies especially, or anyone, struggling with doing their part in dieting and exercise plus getting enough sleep also for metabolism.

Yesterday, as if typical on my days off, I waited three hours for my first meal.  Why eat if I'm not interested?  Lunch ended up being pretty big, though.  Dinner was also a little high calorie.

So today I had oatmeal within 2 hours (that was the best I could do; i have a lot of constraints).

I always feel most satisfied with days, esp days off when a few things I need to do each morning and evening get done.  Even if they are abbreviated a little. And even if that's all I get done.

Jojo, Monica, Larry and or Ron, what are your thoughts on developing a healthier eating schedule with a consistent healthier eating plan?

Monica is Jojo...I think.

Hahaha.

BellGab has other topics?

I'll check here occasionally, see if there's any tips I can implement.  Doctors are so useless when they have a black and white ultimatum, especially when you tell them your only concern is pain when you die but no concern if you die tomorrow.

Perhaps you could've stated that in the very first post of the thread.   :D   But I get where you're coming from.   ;)

I haven't done but know a lot of folks are doing (not sure how these companies are making a profit) but lots of the grocery stores allow you to order your groceries online and either pickup or even free delivery. This means one could develop a menu, order your items, and not buy stuff impulsively by seeing goods marketed in the store, or shopping when hungry, etc. You can also save your list and reorder same things weekly, also saving time and sticking to whatever diet.

It's my preference to see and handle my groceries in person rather than have someone just throw the ingredients in a box and send it to me.  I'd have more faith if it were the 'old times' and the local farmer or mom & pop store would send it to you.  As far as profits...they overcharge.  Some claim $9 a meal but it's usually more.  Might as well just spend it at a cheap chain restaurant.  They give you an illusion that they are experts in what you need.  I've seen some of their meal kits.  Laughable.  To me it's best to make a list, learn some simple cooking techniques, and physically get what you want and need as you need it, if able.  Aside from convenience I don't see how the service is useful.  Oh!  There is a service here that opened last summer and they will fill special needs.  Wow.  Anyone on a special diet will pay through the nose, and they do.  Some pay up to $30 per meal.  I think it's sacrilege when you could buy the same ingredients at a grocery store for half of that.  I could go on.   :-\

I'm not talking meals but your groceries. You say what you want: 3 cans of sardines, a case of Hamm's, TP, bread, etc. You drive up and they put in your car. Or they deliver for free (for now, could be promo.) Same prices as going to store. I think done due to competition or loss leaders.

Pain is bad. Lots of my life's eating was to mask pain.
Doctors are indoctrinated, brainwashed.

I like the idea of not being face to face with 5' tall displays of chocolate candy.

But so far, retailers here charge twice as much for an online item.  Discount stores wont deliver. I cant afford Amazon grocery club fee.  Food stamps not allowed.

I guess I could try ringing up at sporting goods.  Thanks for the reminder to control temptation.  It was only 200 cal though, and i do allow a few ounces of chocolate a month.

I do like to select my own stuff for quality, plus substitutions are fussy with all my allergies.  But in an ideal world, online shopping would be great.  I am waiting for affordability.

This year, Safeway gives food stamp recipients five dollars toward produce on their next visit, for every ten they use.  They did it last year but did not advertise it.  I only found out by happenstance.  Wish I had know , bec food bank produce is either rotten or overwhelming, feast or famine while I have little cold storage.  Safeway is really helping my diet because produce is usually low cal and fiberous.

So you think it makes a difference to eat within the first hour?  Im kinda full after decaf.  You want me to put nut butter in the decaf?  Is that better than nothing for two hours?

Planning takes a kitchen.  My access varies.  I did cook nine balanced meals and froze three of them.  Any other suggestions?

Last night I didn't do too badly.

Today has been a day of healthy eating.  "Melba" oatmeal (no oil or sugar other than fruit) breakfast, and not too large.

Lunch (supper I guess) was turkey, tortilla chips, corn and salad.

I think exercise helps control my appetite a little bit.

I ovulated, something amenorreic VS models dont have to worry about.  Incidental birth control, lol. God only knows what that will do to my already slow polycystic metabolism.  Something about wreaking havoc on insulin.  They really should fix that.  Researchers make a lot of bogus excuses for not researching the pancreas (insulin).  Maybe bec diabetes is a money maker (Im not diabetic).  They say the pancreas is poorly positioned for research, but I think it is easier to access than the heart!  I suspect to research the pancreas, they might have to sacrifice livers, and that they arent willing to bec livers are a money maker, too.  But i really dont know. o

Here is an abstract about how women who are amenorreic (usually from exercising way too mucn) end up with substandard bone density.  Does that mean I weigh more bec my bones weigh more, lol.

Ha. The "big boned" thesis?  ;) Here, and commercials I've seen during baseball games etc so, maybe, nationally, or maybe up to the local owner or franchisee it is not high-falootin' places but Walmart, Albertson's, HEB, Randall's (which I think is Safeway also,) are advertising the order online and pick up on curb. Not sure if all places do it or if all places the price of goods is the same. But know some who do and say it is awesome because pick kids up from school and worker puts in trunk and back to home. When you got your basic menu planned. Another person uses some app that, somehow, does free delivery to your door (I think it is a promo deal though.) I still don't understand how they make money- except that they keep business and lazy people maybe more business? And I'm not sure how popular it is- how many do they need to hire to do the 'picking?'

"Any other suggestions?" Is that sarcasm? I was only asking a question. And BTW I seem to be the only person you get snarky with. Cool ;D

Anyways, yes I agree that your own kitchen can be very important to healthier living.. to a degree. Kitchen or not, you make the decision to buy and ingest junk food or healthier food. That said: I know that healthy eating can cost up to two or three times more than just buying empty calorie filler food. I know you're in California but is rent so damn high for a one BDRM suite where you would have your own kitchen ETC?  Serious, do you have a community bathroom that all of the tenants in the house have to share? I hope not. It's unfortunate that you can't have a few glasses of wine on the weekends.

I'm ready for my mild scolding now.

Not sarcastic.  I'll try to eat breakfast.

Not California.  I've been there though.  Here, a one BDRM suite costs about $400 more per month than I make.

This share house, a 3-bed, 2-bath manufactured rambler with a large yard, deck and kitchen was $2200/mo but just went up 10% to $2600.  Almost a 10% increase in just on year.  Such greed.  Was too high to begin with.  I just rent a room.

I share my bath with the klepto and the autistic, so it is breezy, real minimalist with a nice window.  It's never cluttered, bec she steals.  So in a sense its always tidy and the counters are entirely clear, which is very convenient.  Someone (the autistic??) keeps the shower/tub clean, always.  Nice perk.

I do use the kitchen when hostilities are low.  We just got a new range and the broiler works great!  But, it's bring your own hand soap, bring your own scrub brush, and try not to touch anything!  And finding items is tricky bec the stroke victim likes to do hide and seek with food and tools.  So i keep some things in my room.

Well, I drank anything I wanted for many years, so that was then.  I live with alcoholics.  Nearly every week either the police or an ambulance is here, because alcoholics dnt take care of themselves and the autistic bipolar guy gets too weird when he drinks.  He's a big guy.  One time, he passed out blocking the front door.  Another time he got slugged (deserved it).  And the cops sometimes pull over drivers here, as they know the drivers drink.  One time, the autistic raged bec he thought I was noisy, but what he actually heard was a drunk falling out of his chair in his sleep, and falling again when he tried to get up.  I just happened to be in the room, checking on the fallen elder.  But both were so drunk they blamed me for the thumping!  That was at Christmas. Things that were a little funny in youth are really pitiful in old age.

Drumroll... Don't let it happen to you!

I toss a towel over bottles, or put them somewhere hard to reach so I'll forget about them, like under the sink way in the back.  As long as I don't see the stuff, I wont relapse.  There have been times when too much alcohol is out in the open, so i just make sure it disappears.  I mean seriously, whats the difference whether i drank it or the municipality, either way its gone.  Thats only happened once or twice.  They know to try to be discreet.  Some guest has been keeping a lot in a fridge, though, so i just shoved it to the back and put a bunch of heavy bulky food in front of it.  Some containers i wont touch no matter what, bec cravings can come on suddenly so those ones I dont touch at all, not to dump them down the municipal, not to hide them or the empties i generate under the sink, not to touch them at all.  When its that out of control i just avoid the kitchen altogether for a while.  No more Cinderella.  But regular USA beer with all its conigens nor cheap vodka are not even tempting, and thats usually all thats here.

Someone thot the bottles under the sink were not my work, but figured that one of the alcoholics' drinking was escalating and that she was trying to hide her excess bottles from our household garbage/recycle snoop.  Lol.  I did not clarify, lol.  What am i gonna say, oh those empties i caused?!?  Not.  But better empty than tempty...

Jojo

I realize I can't control others on the forum, regardless of having started this thread.  Actually this post is not in response to KSM, who by the way, needs his chick to flog him.  But my concern is in response to another post I read.

It's just that I don't welcome any casual talk about alcohol, for the sake of my recovery from alcohol abuse, not bec drinking were necessarily wrong for everyone!  For example, in this thread, I don't mind discussing alcohol in the context of addiction discussion.

But my preference is total abstention, physically, visually, and conversationally.  I don't allow alcohol on my premise.  I don't attend work parties, just for my own sake, not moral superiority.

In my close world, the proper response to "What drink do you like?" is, " Lately, I am always up for a cold Perrier water".  Or Evian.  Or, "I haven't given it much thought".   Not....... "Coors" or whatever.

What I tolerate from friends or acquaintances is one thing.  But there is a big difference between a friend, versus someone close to me.  People close to me don't involve alcohol in their interactions, from conversations to photos.  I have little interest in being with a drinker; it repels me simply because of my personal situation, wanting to live addiction-free without substance abuse or temptation.

Some former addicts can be moderate (and most fail in the attempt).  But moderation does not work for me.

People have different standards for what they tolerate from acquaintances, versus what they accept from someone closer to them.  People close to me don't imbibe, and don't display photos of imbibing.  If they do drink, I never know it and the topic shouldn't come up where I might see it.  Kind of like porn.

Yeah, expensive.  I don't work FT bec these people already had one complete "total" house fire and I guard my 17-year old cat bec they burn candles into furniture, unattended.  So, I just work PT.  Kind of a trap, but not forever.

If you eat mushrooms, even of the legal variety, don't post on social media. Actually, I don't know why people post their meals on social media anyway.https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-05-17/big-brother-police-raid-home-man-who-posted-pictures-his-mushroom-dinner-facebook

No, you cannot.

The effects of the disease can have profound effects on everyday life. As well, the recurring side effects of excessive belching, dizziness, dry mouth, hangovers, disorientation, irritable bowel syndrome, and chronic fatigue syndrome can lead to other health problems such as depression, anxiety and poor productivity in employment.

One case went undetected for 20 years.

You don't know what you have, other than disastrous study habits.
I didnt research it much bec my liver was just given an all clear!  I know how to research.  I also know when to prioritize.

I hardly eat any sugar.  We've been round and round that.  I gave up processed sugar except in creamer and occasional treats.  Evidence that I can eat sugar in moderation is last week's 200 cal chocolate.  And this week's coffee cup of ice cream (not a pint, not a half gallon, and not 20 ounces!).

You could research how to provide effective support.  First tenent, not to put me on defensive.

I defended you at one time.  Even if you are self-admittedly lazy and mean!

I am a very productive employee.  That has never been a concern.  And so what, anxiety is common in people with hardly any support system!  And depression?  That is because I am in a difficult relationship.  The other options aren't very good.  I could date some TI.  Blech.  I could bring an innocent in.  Blech.  I could find a willing wise one... like a needle in a haystack, especially at my age and BMI!  I'm better off with my deserving brat.  Besides, I developed some new ideas for better relating.  I'm progressing, with tools to navigate through the morosity - but constant household crisis doesn't help. (He doesn't live here).

Go easy on me.  There is a man living here who has gone on an unending, frightening mania.  All my activities, including Google searches, are apt to be interrupted or abandoned at any time, as even if I ignore him, I need to record him, document, and comfort my cat.

If you have the option to work full time this would of course expedite the process of taking the necessary steps to getting your own place! Do the math, part time will never afford you the freedom to get out of your current situation. One month of FT would get you outta there. Have some faith that your cat will be fine, you're doing it for her? too.

Of course I'm married, and reasonably happy too. As far as flogging goes most woman stop giving FlogJobs within two years of the honeymoon.

As fine of an athlete as she is, she's not strong enough to deliver a fine flogging.
