Movie remakes I hope are never remade and the actors I pray don't star in them

Gone With the Wind with Klaus Kinski and Sandy Dennis as Rhett and Scarlett, and Martin Lawrence as Big Mammy.

they were.  so many diametrically opposing things happening musically all at the same time, and very little of it is going to be remembered.

Excellent, description! However, I have to make an exception for Dread Zeppelin, who deserve to be remembered for having the most imaginative band concept ever.

It wouldn't be right to leave out the most hated bands nobody outside whichever greater Tri-County Area they lived in ever heard.

"It begins to chime."  :)  If you look closely, at the very end.  I could swear there's a moment where Kirk says his uptight-sounding closing line, and Spock looks at him and seems to be thinking .. "What a Herbert".

The hippies getting killed by eating bad acid at the end is even more ironic than the finale of Polynesiantown:D

The Way to Eden, the Star Trek TOS episode where the Enterprise encounters the space hippies, on MeTV. "Headin' out to Eden, yeah, brother!"  Be there, or be square, Herbert.

Yes, thanks to PB the Deplorable;
My gratitude is inexorable.
I don't always read
Each humorless screed,
But earnestness is so adorable.

Damn, K, you just cost me ten dollars, because I bet the friend I'm always asking questions for on BG that nobody could make "inexorable" rhyme with "adorable" in a way that made any sense. Well played and well versed, sir!

Whenever I watch Carson shows from the 70's, it seems like most the guests were high on pills.

That would explain Rip Taylor's strange behavior.

These shit-heels tell us they are the tolerant, enlightened, open minded folks among us.  They tell us they are the non-violent, non-judgmental,  inclusive, compassionate ones.  They have no understanding of the world around them, and are easy prey for the America-hating demagogues.  As ignorant fools, they feel justified protesting at peoples houses, boycotting the businesses of ordinary Americans who have different opinions than they on issues, smashing windows on cars that have the ''wrong'' bumper stickers, tearing up our cities and blocking access and traffic during their riots.

They hate our system of government, our system of free exchange, our history, our Constitution.  They don't believe in democracy and self rule.  If election don't go their way, they turn to the courts.  If court rulings don't go their way, they turn to the street.

There's a reason I refer to them as Left Wing Fascists.  If someone has a more descriptive term, I'd be happy to use that instead.

Thank you for opening my eyes and making me realize that everything I ever believed in was a dirty lie diabolically designed to make me hate America, the Constitution, my mom, and her scrumptious apple pie that everyone said was the best they'd ever tasted. I was wrong, and I've never been more ashamed of myself. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

What if they actually done in the cat? I think I see a few turkeys in this barnyard

If they did, the cat probably deserved it because it couldn't help being a jerk. That genetic trait probably kills way more of them than curiosity...

And weird, possibly sentient ritualistic type of turkey behavior like that is something that might be worth worrying about, no matter what motivates it.

Yeah, that doesn't look at all like a sign of the Apocalypse. And I'm glad I don't live on that street, because that kind of thing tends to have an adverse impact on property values.

I simply refuse to believe you are this stupid.

You can't possibly think it is improper for an incoming president and his staff to hold discussions with foreign diplomats regarding their upcoming administration.  Let alone a sitting US Senator having a discussion with an ambassador.

What do you think Congressmen and Senators do when they travel abroad on official business?  What do you think an ambassador to the US does?  I realize you've been above answering questions lately, but I'd really like to know.

You've mentioned the Logan Act, repeatedly.  Almost as if you understand what it is.  It applies to unauthorized citizens who negotiate with foreign governments having a dispute with the United States.  Members of an incoming administration are hardly ''unauthorized citizens''.  Or do you think you could ever get a jury to convict on something as lame-ass as that?  (I know, another question likely to go unanswered).

He's actually more of an idiot savant. If I were you, I'd kick him out of the free shelter for bugbears you keep in your head and free up his soiled cot for a real enemy of humanity like Boutros Boutros-Ghali or Wolf Blitzer.

So, Trump has sacrificed a queen, a bishop and two rooks and got nothing in return. He's sacrificed tempo and any sort of positional advantage, and we are supposed to regard this as some master strategy rather than the flailings of an incompetent? Why is that the people who claim to be the most sceptical are always the most easily gulled?

By the way, still waiting for the evidence that 9/11 was an inside job, since you're so hot on hard proof.

That sounds like a polite way of saying what we on the sunny side of the Pond call "screwing the pooch." Now run along and decimate something. There's a good lad.

We may take you up on that Branson offer this year.

The nightmares are back - about that dead kid we found in the abandoned boxing gym near St. Benedict's.   It's been tough going the last few weeks.

When Karen asks what's eating at me, I tell her it's just old ghosts, catching up to the living dead (the living dead being the "retired") - and just part of wearing the "police pentagram."  Nothing a little whiskey can't fix.  Father McBride would get a big kick out of that - if he could hear me saying "police pentagram."  Rest his soul.

Karen, says, "Hey, Mickey! You big goof!"

I'd be lying if I told you that the nightmares caused by spending thirty thankless years of putting our lives on the line scraping inconsequential scum off the street while serving and protecting the real criminals who run this stinking city ever go away. I owe you and Father McBride that much, Lou. If it weren't for our pensions, your impressive model HO railroad layout, and my time share, we wouldn't have anything else except family. So give my little sister a big hug from the big goof! See you in early November!

Sessions shouldn't have recused.  He was cowed to do it by some misguided advice in the Justice department.  He is a man of integrity and the two interviews he made with the Russian ambassador were under the auspices of his senatorial duties not as a member of the Trump campaign.  He is hiding nothing.  As for Flynn, I think he had to resign because he lied to the Vice-President not because of public pressure from the Dems and media.  RGG, come back and tell me if something alarming does come out regarding this Russian business.  Call me out on my prediction.  I've been observing politics for over 35 years and I know how both parties act.  Republicans unfortunately tend to cave to Democratic demands but if the shoe was on the other foot, the Democrats would hold firm.

If that happens we'll know without anyone having to be called out. My personal politics are a smorgasbord of different philosophies I've sampled for almost as long as you, and I will eat crow if I'm wrong if you pledge to do the same. Deal?

And just to show there are no hard feelings, I agree with your review of The Battle of the Bulge. It was pure fiction, but Bronson was at his usual unappreciated best, Telly Savalas was delightfully, yet poignantly over the top, and Mike Pence dominated the movie as Colonel Hessler.

This whole episode is nothing more than a smokescreen for the Democrats and the media's war on Republicans.  I guarantee you, nothing will come out of any investigations that suggest Trump's campaign and the Russians were colluding to tamper with the election.  #witchhunt

You know better than that, 21. If that's all it is, Flynn wouldn't have resigned and Sessions wouldn't have suddenly recused himself. It takes a lot more than run of the mill political hatchet jobs and fake news to make Cabinet level officials to cave in so easily. Speaking of which, the next shoe to drop could be a $500 slipper belonging to Commerce Secretary, Wilbur Ross over his involvement with the Bank of Cypress. Not to mention his ties to Russia that date back to the early nineties when Bill Clinton appointed him to the board of the U.S.-Russia Investment Fund. That alone should result in his eventual resignation because any connection to the Clinton administration automatically assumes that he must be guilty of something.

Of course, nobody's guilty until convicted and you can take that from the mouth of Wilbur's horse, you unrepentant cinephile.

It might depend on your tolerance for Lance Henriksen.  I liked it.  I've wanted a big yellow house ever since.  That's an inside reference of course.

The anti-Scientology episode comes immediately to mind as a good episode.

i acquired a tolerance for Meghan Gallagher when she was on Hill Street Blues. Those were the days, weren't they Lou? Damn right they were. That was when justice was most effectively administered in sweltering windowless rooms under hot lights with rubber hoses and a phone book instead of a courtroom, where the deck was always stacked against you with high priced mouthpieces and liberal judges who would have let Son of Sam off on a technicality.

The world has passed us by Lou, and I get down on my knees every day and thank God for my pension and the time share in Branson where the welcome mat is always out for you and Karen between the 9th and 23rd of November. As if you needed any more incentive, I have a copy of the Millenium episode with the group of demons in the diner complaining about the weird guy who can see them in their true form when they're passing for humans.

I think the thing that kills Babylon 5 is the badly aged graphics, and that it came out at the same time/has similar concepts as Deep Space 9 (and there are allegations of network heads stealing Babylon 5's concept from a pitch and using it for Star Trek). We'll see how it goes further into the series.

I'm a Bab V fan, and it is far superior to DS9. The nice thing about it is that the creator planned it as a five season series and knew how he wanted it to end before production started, so they knew where it was going and didn't have to make up much as they went along. It also guaranteed they wouldn't paint themselves into a corner plotwise and not know how to get out. Hope you enjoy it!

Philby, the homosexual British spy, immediately comes to mind. And Oswald. Obviously Hanoi Jane with the VC and you still see kids wearing Che shirts around (although most likely don't know who he was.) NPR, our semi-official news "fake news" agency, had a long story on the Americans who defected and their fate.

ps: I hope we do reach some kind of detante' with Russia and we can get those oil& gas deals, and other business, going again. Certainly less war, and more friendly, or at least less hot, relations is better for most everybody.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them think it's Bob Marley or the Zig Zag man.

Yes. And I'm researching something I heard about the new Commerce Secretary and money laundering for the Russians. Something to that effect.

I really hope people put country before ideology and get to the truth about this Russia mess. And it shouldn't be behind close doors in the House and Senate Intelligence committees.  As a stupid man recently posted: "Sunlight is the best disinfectant"

"Nooo, Wilbur! Saaay you didn't dooo it!"

You don't answer because you can't.

You bring up recusal and I ask for examples of Democrat recusals.  You probably looked into it and found out they don't do it much, because the Fake News Media doesn't hound them about it.  And in fact plays Democrat conflicts-of-interest down and buries them.  Like Kagan and ObamaCare.

You talk about special prosecutors and I point out dubious cases from the Obama regime and ask how may special prosecutors were appointed for those.  You realized it was the same answer and for the same reason.

You talk about that ass-clown director from Iran, and I ask what the situation is in Iran regarding refugees and illegal immigrants, and what he's said about that.  We both know those answers - you can't respond without exposing his hypocrisy.

In other words, critical thinking isn't your thing.

Are you still imagining him as a twenty-five-year-old co-ed pretending to be a man in his early sixties? That's a fantasy you don't hear much about, so points for creativity!

Caught a little bit of Dubya's latest interview, and it was interesting to see how relaxed and even serene he appeared to be. In fact, he had the look you might expect from someone who recently realized that there's a very good chance he won't be remembered as the worst president since Andrew Johnson.
