Definitely! Not only a great singer/songwriter but he played on a bumch of Dylan and Cohen albums as a studio musician before striking out on his own.

ps: you have to keep in mind that these albums were satire. Shel Silverstein was involved on some (apparently,) Brown- his drummer was black, etc. It was an odd time. And getting drunk/high and making funny as shit, offensive songs. Sometimes poking fun at politicians, other singers (like Buffet,) and social norms.

pps: what is amazing. Is some of the songs are GOOD country songs and it is fun to play them in social settings background. Nobody notices until, eventually, someone will say "did he just say...." n-word, his daughter, cum, or whatever?!?

Every one of the songs from "12 Golden Country Songs," of which there were only ten actual songs qualify.  Today I would like to nominate this one:

Silphion

Back in the days of my impoverished youth, I lived briefly in a run down
one story apartment, converted from a series of farm buildings complex.
Guy next door dressed like Lance Henriksen in The Quick and the Dead.
Plywood walls and he would play this song over and over, day and night.
