Where did you read this horse shit?

Rural hospitals and smaller community hospitals do run at a lower census than larger hospitals but none are at a 30% census. If they are they will be closed or bought by a company that will increase its census overnight.

The last hospital I worked at was always in the mid to high 90's percentile even on major holidays.

There are older hospitals (at least a few) that were built during the 40's for the military that were many hundred bed hospitals. But they no longer use all the beds, many units have been closed for years. But staff to patient ratios are in the 70 to 80 percentile for their census.

To add, many decisions to keep patients in the hospital are counter manded due to lack of or limited insurance. I have seen patients discharged with open wounds to be tended at home by non medically trained family members because it was considered "safe". Only to see, the patient return due to infection.

Overall hospital beds or ER and psych capacities?

The latter are overwhelmed , but that was not the discussion.  Overall, inpatient is underutilized

That is a different argument. But no hospital is at a 30% census. I will be the first to agree that since hospitals became for profit too many were built for competition. At this point though you may have to redefine hospitalization. Compared to 20 to 40 years ago hospital stays have decreased from several days to overnight. I am not sure that is a good thing.

But that is the argument that sambo was making.   Of at least he didn't clarify specific enough to tell exactly what point he was making.  Either way it is besides the point.

And yes, I agree that inpatient stays have been shortened for the worst.  Much of that is due to pressure from insurers as well as demands for lower hospital staffing requirements.  But to my point, it is doubtful that the government is going to do anything but reverse that trend.  Federal administration never makes anything more efficient.  That's a simple fact.  And it has nothing to do with capititaliam, socialist, etc, etc.  it just throws more administrators into the system and takes decision making away

Can we get back to hating Noory (and Canada) now?

No Name Storm

Dan, what's wrong with Canada? I love Canada. Would prefer to live there....alas, obligations and family here in the "once good ole USA." LOL.

I love Canadians
I hate Canada.

The national policy has developed some disturbing undertones and disregard for privacy and rights over the past 4 decades.   Not that the USA hasn't do e the same, but we have stated safeguards and active resistance to such encroachments.  The Canadian is truly a subject of the dominion and the crown with a constitution that protects the state and not the man.  Tue police apparatus, government agencies, and political parties are all depraved and overreaching.

Canada is what the USA would be if we never had to fight for our independence.

You never really notice the nuances and lack of freedoms and fear of speaking your mind until you spend time there and come and go across the border frequently.  While there, all seems fine, but the realization hits once you are stateside looking back.

Really this should be taken to the politics thread. It's one thing to derail inoffensively or to be offended by the subject at hand (George noory), but this is just a big sloppy mess of shit and off-topic that doesn't need to be in this thread

Maybe it's just me, but it seems the whole board has been derailed since Art's return and departure.  Topics used to stray from the subject for a few posts, and now it seems whole pages aren't relevant to the topic
I would almost think there's sumpthin going on.

Many here are having a lot of difficulty dealing with Bell's near immediate self-immolation on Sirius. After years of building him into an immortal, and hanging onto the hope of his 2nd 3rd, 4th 5th coming, they  were re-introduced to the guy who's brilliant behind a microphone, but off-air needs full-time adult supervision.

The manic high followed by depression trauma has opened a rift in spacetime into which people's uncontrolled emotions/thoughts/dreams/nightmares/fears/madness have poured into the churning void.  The turmoil which was once contained to the boiling existential cauldron known as the AB Quits thread is now spilling across into other areas of the board.

It is at these times of confusion and uncertainty I can bring comfort by pointing out that there is in fact a constant, something we can depend on, something we can know to be self-evident, a truth we can trust in and know in our souls to be a solid as Mt. Everest, as deep as the Pacific Ocean, as eternal as the motions of the Sun and Moon across the sky:  Noory sucks.

Put the bong down

Pick one up. It's a hell of a lot more fun than faking Hoagland's death for kicks.

FallenSeraph

Tonight's show has the potential to be amusing, kids. We've got both the Mona Lisa and someone attempting to spell "angel" in a special way.

Intuitions/ Akashic Records
Mon 12-16
First Half: Neuropsychiatrist and medical intuitive Dr. Mona Lisa Schulz will discuss how to combine intuition with intelligence to solve pressing health problems, and intuitively conquer pain and suffering. She'll also recount her NDE during surgery in 2012.

2nd Half: Authority on the Akashic Records, Aingeal Rose O'Grady, will discuss her remarkable ability to access these records which are reported to contain the history of the cosmos. She'll cover whether current climate conditions are natural, as well as the role of robots and their effects on the collective soul of the human race.

No Name Storm

Wow.....Talk about meaningless shows. Think I'll take some melatonin tonight. Big Sucky.

I should do this for a living. Show how to combine intuition and intelligence along with diet and exercise to solve pressing health problems.

An unifying truth-anchor:  GNS.

Concur on your analysis, however, theoretically, the bits of escaping madness from the quit thread cannot survive for more than two or three posts outside the quit thread.  There is a limit to the damage they can cause.  If we remain vigilant, mentally lubricated, and increase our supply of hot pizza rolls... we might have a chance.

Interesting!  Seems like kind of quantum instability may be at work outside the thread, thus keeping those little madness bits in check.

yumyumtree

I've discovered that people with names like Aingeal Rose and Mona Lisa Whatever usually were not given those names by their parents, but renamed themselves.

I am honestly trying to understand what she's saying but I can't make any sense of the ramblings at all.

I like George's little plug about the world's highest rated overnight show earlier, too.

DocHolliday

I take exception to this woman (or anyone for that matter) who says video games wire kids to kill.

This argument has been going on since Doom was popular on personal computers and will continue to as long as video games are around.  It's an easy target for people to point blame on a separate issue.

School shootings have been going on since colonial times.

Either way, this woman is bat shit crazy and her random use of dropping the letter R at the end of words like "Over" is irritating.

FallenSeraph

I kind of like her, although everything's making me jittery and "adrenalating" me now.

I enjoyed hearing about George's concealed weapon permit. Don't mess with him!

George doesn't sound like he likes her very much.

His response to her deep concern about video games: "In my day all we played was pong. Boop boop boop boop boop boop." â€" George Noory. Game over.

FallenSeraph

((laughter))

she's totally stressing poor George out.

I think her psychic reading right now is about my damn dysfunctional family, actually.

Meanwhile, George is all, "Wh. . . wha . . . hey . . . wha . . . you can't do that on radio!" and calling everyone "Mary."

Bateman, now is the time to get through and ask if she can read cats.

CJJames

"George has put together the ultimate after-midnight cookbook for the Coast aficionado: 'George Noory's Late-Night Snacks.' "

I would not have believed it had I not read it myself tonight on the C2C site. Its a new low.

Pac Man Death Sound FX

Yeah you can tell he's definitely just messing with her.  "How much did you pay for that?"  "You do like those games don't you?"  +1 to George on that, I guess.  Also, I can't wait for the new George photochops of him packing heat.

I don't like her because she gets asked a question and starts stuttering and sort of changes the subject, not answering the question at all.
