What was your favorite Art Bell show?

Dead-Time

Ive been trying hard to compile Art Bell shows in mp3 format and I have my favorites I find myself listening to time and again. That brings me to my query to you, what was your favorite show? Of course mine were the Father Martin shows but the open lines were always good for a laugh to. I always thought Art just sort of humored Dr. Doom, you could here it in his voice that he was more than a bit tepid on the "truth" Ed Dames would share.

One last thing, does anyone remember an early caller who was off his nut and worked at a toll bridge or something like that and finally got run over? he usually called around the same time someone using the name "writmeister" would call in.....the good old days.

Actually, it's funny you mention that because we just had a discussion about Art and Dames' relationship in another thread. Apparently more people picked up on that than I initially thought. I always felt like Art let Ed get away with way more bullshit than any other guests.

Oh, and my favorite Art shows are always with Dr. Michio Kaku. I love hearing physics-related discussions, especially when it's specifically related to space, time, singularities, ect. He's an enthralling listen every time, and you can tell he was one of Art's favorites, too. Art really kept the discussion moving and always asked the best questions because he was genuinely interested. Of course as I said before, Father Martin is another one of my favorite guests. There's something about Father Martin that calms me to the core. I've never been convinced of religion but if anyone were able to convince me to "find" the Christian God, it would have been Father Martin.

Bandido

mel's hole hands down. i still think about that guy and all the stuff he said.

Max

area 51 callers and other gov't callers, time travelers etc etc..

I gotta say I have never understood the fascination with that man,  He seemed sweet and wellimeaning enough - but creepy to me! I mean, so much of what he said was downright fascist. IOW - the implication that there was such a thing as absolute right, and the he was on the winning team.

eeesh . . .

Maybe I've misjudged him - but that was the impression I got.

Dj Deo Gee

the whole mel's hole thing is fascinating

Would you be interested in writing up a stock answer to this question representing both of us, since we always have the same answer.

"Phan and PKA are obligated to say: "Mr. Michi is peachy. Dr. Kaku will rock you".

Heh...maybe I should work on that...

I'm partial to the "Rock You" piece.  It's catchy.  And our answers are exactly the same really. Kaku & Martin (sounds like a Hawaiian comedy duo).  The only difference would be JC if you don't like him.  I also like the celeb shows(see: Carlin), but they are their own ball of wax in my opinion.

Kaku & Martin sing the classics, Hawaiian style!

Oh and I like JC quite a bit, but only when it was just JC and Art. JC and Oscar or JC and Noory just don't cut it for me. And I dig the George Carlin show(s?) too. I've only heard one with Art but I was hoping there were more. He and Art had a very lively connectivity in their personalities.

There was only one Carlin show(I believe), but I meant "specials" like that.  BTW, I just picked up this smokin' LP - Kaku & Martin: Sanctity of the Quantum Lei.  It's off the hizzy dawg!

I enjoyed the shows with Michael "Mad Man" Marcum    oh so long ago    :-\  Those were the happy days

Max

my other favorites were when he had hackers on the show and also the one and only captain crunch :p

The Mel's Hole shows were great and so was Madman Marcum. But my favorite show was the interview Art did with Eric Burdon in Feb. 2002. Hearing it reminded me of how much I liked the Animals way back when. (my parents thought) I was still too young to go to rock concerts at that time, so I never got to see them live, which I really wanted to do. :'(

The cool thing is that as a result of that show, I learned that Eric now lives about 50 mi. from me and still performs on a regular basis. A couple of months later, I finally saw him play at a nearby casino... and it was GREAT!

Because of Art doing that show, I had an "old dream" finally come true.
