Social security was the biggest one to protect the elderly who up to that point were basically thrown to the wolves after passing working age. Then you had the Federal Housing Administration, Securities and Exchange Commission and dozens of others.

I wouldn't call those socialism, I'd call them liberalism.  Socialism is what Clement Attlee implemented after being elected Prime Minister of the Great Britain after 1945.

One of my friends believes that Alex Jones is a complete fraud who doesn't believe a word that he says, but just frightens people to sell his survivalist products.  He tells me that that is a popular conspiracy with many former Alex Jones listeners.

I could be wrong about this, but I understand that Jones endorses many of the products sold on his program, so not only does he make money from the advertisements, he also makes money from the endorsements, if that is true. 

He's certainly a shrewd businessperson. Who knows, he may be a future President of the United States.
