Are you on twitter? And other social media connections.

Just wanted to make a thread for those of you who care to connect on other channels and talk about coast, radio, love of art, hatred of George, awesomeness of anagrammy, or whatever. No big deal.

My twitter: @Lasertron
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/princesslasertron

What I post and put out there is about half business and half personal. Would love to read from more of you and continue to develop some of the cool relationships we've started here on coastgab!

The terms "Twitter" and "tweet" seriously offend me.

They were NOT concocted by a native English-speaker.   On the remote chance that they were, it was not by any person with a speck of testosterone nor self-reflection in it's being (read: completely non-socialized computer nerd, completely unaware of common language =sort of a younger Noory).

I mean -- goddamn: what self-respecting native English-speaker*  even used those words BEFORE that service came about?   And then to add the stank of hyper-commercialism to essentially dead words ?

Just too fucking weirdly contrived for me.   The words.   I can't get past those to even think of using the service.

i have to agree.  most online "services" these days employ idiotic, made up words as names because 1) they are desperate to distinguish themselves and 2) all the good domain names are bought up and 3) most of them are a bunch of 25 year old male virgins who will speak to you as if you're miles beneath them in a linux support forum.

that said, you really should consider using twitter.  it delivers actual value, unlike facebook.  if you follow the right people, you'll have an awesome 24/7 news feed coming at you on every device you own.  that's primarily what i use it for.  however, i've been trying to increase my "tweet" frequency of late.

I love Twitter. Use it mostly for networking, especially covering film festivals. and during film festivals. @robinlovesdogs

Yorkshire pud

No; I have no compunction to impart my daily life to complete strangers in the vain belief it will change their life. Either that or I'm just an anti social bastard.

I concur, Yorkie...  I see far too many people end up "walking back" stupid tweets.  Just cuz a thought pops into your head doesn't mean you have to share it with the world.  And honestly, I don't want a bunch of followers.  (Having said that, I can see how for some well-disciplined people Twitter might be a useful business tool.)
