That is called free viewing. Yes you can train the eyes to act like a stereoscope and when I was collecting stereoviews at flea markets and antique stores I would free view them to see if they were any good. All stereoviews were not created equal. Some had more stereo effect than others.
Quote from: albrecht on December 18, 2020, 05:09:53 PMI can still make them work without a stereoscope.
Going through some boxes and found this stereoscope photo. 1889 Knights Templar parade in DC. Note also that the production was sold in foreign markets also. They look good in 3-D!

Ha! No kidding. I’d take listening to Petula Clark at a a stoplight over the usual ear-racking noise coming from some gang bangers rolling pile of junk.
Quote from: WOTR on December 28, 2020, 07:28:41 PMI blew my cover. Run away! This statistics stuff is so confusing.
I'm sorry. But I assumed it would be 3 deaths of their 2 children with 2 survivors. How do you plan to die a fourth time if you are already dead?
Quote from: WOTR on December 28, 2020, 06:45:25 PMI use 60’s, 45’s are for children.
So- just what is your price?*
*Asking for K_Dubb.
**Also, do you have any 45's in the basement gym?
Quote from: WOTR on December 28, 2020, 06:34:34 PMI’d go for a fourth but that would be silly. Unless someone paid me.
Whoozit has died 3 times...
Quote from: K_Dubb on December 28, 2020, 05:50:43 PMYou missed the entire point of my post but I agree with you on how tricky it is to use PCR as a diagnostic test. The point was the constantly moving goalposts for success, form slow down hospitalizations, to looking at death counts to looking at “infections†using. Non-diagnostic tool. I know that hospitalizations are up in my area, but it is still unclear if it is COVID or the flu. I suspect it is both. I saw the number excess deaths over last year and remember it was over well 200K more so it does invalidate earlier arguments I heard where every death was being attributed to COVID. 200-300k is a large number and seems to jibe with the number of deaths attributed to COVID.
PCR has a long, proven history used to reconstruct genomes from Neanderthals etc. and the sort of amplification it does is by design. How you interpret the presence of covid in your sample is up to debate, I agree, but this should surprise no one who actually understands how they work.
The case you are making, though, is that PCR tests are being used to exaggerate the scope of the problem which might hold true were not hospitalizations at dangerous levels in some areas and excess deaths compared to last year closely matching the reported covid totals. We kind of know the scope of things now from many different angles, and I doubt people are using test result case counts alone to decide anything. That was last spring.
Quote from: K_Dubb on December 28, 2020, 05:00:15 PM...At best the powers that be think we are too stupid to do what’s necessary, at worst they think we are thereto order around. I admire your optimism but I don’t think it is warranted if you objectively look at what’s going on. Remember at first we were going to stay home two weeks to flatten the infection curve. When it did start to flatten the fixation turned to the number of deaths. When that slowed down the fixation turned to the results of PCR tests spun up many times more than usual. Presence of the viral genetic material in these overly spun up tests does not show whether someone is actively infected or contagious with COVID, only that some viral genetic material was found. With the number of cycles run a farting flea on your street could be the source of genetic material found in the sample. The inventor of PCR has stated many times that is not a tool to test for infection. Yet is the latest goalpost being used to measure progress.
Personally I think that asymptomatic transmission will turn out to be one ofthosemany lies told to usbecause they are good for usto expand control of us:
Quote from: Dr. MD MD on December 27, 2020, 04:01:14 PMDo you really think AT&T was examining voting machines? I’ve never heard of anyone going to AT&T for forensic auditing before but I am not an expert. I suspect this was just to alarm the public for more draconian security measures in the coming months. The warning sounded like something the government would produce. I am very scared that lampposts spy on us but not surprised.
But why would an upstanding organization like the FBI want to blow up the place where they were examining the rigged voting machines? Oh...right...to get rid of the evidence so they can install their new dictator.
Quote from: albrecht on December 27, 2020, 12:54:38 PMSoon we’ll find out he was the subject of an FBI “sting†operation where they were trying to talk him into blowing up the AT&T office in Nashville.
They are straying from the narrative, a bit. Now he is being described as an "oddball," not simply a "quiet man."

Christ, isn’t Pud enough? Just what Kalifornia needs, to make sure they sure NOBODY there will ever want to reopen a bar.
Quote from: Walks_At_Night on December 22, 2020, 03:22:11 PMThe Brits are just as fat as the rest of the sedentary world. I use to enjoy Jeremy Clarkson picking on fat Americans as he had his 19.64 stone jammed into jeans only made to handle 16.07 stone on Top Gear.
In all seriousness, it looks like Brexit is gonna happen finally, with the the Super Corona-Chan on top of it. So you'll be adopting Sredni V. then? For just 75 cents a day............

Quote from: AZZERAE on December 22, 2020, 03:04:12 PMI put a link in my original post that will help. Get some unglazed quarry tiles to cook the pizza on. Much cheaper than buying a pizza stone. Crush some canned tomatoes, put on some sliced Roma tomato’s, fresh basil and fresh mozzarella, put on a touch of olive oil and bake in a 550F oven about 8-10 minutes.
My homemade pizza game is dog shit.
