You are confusing two incidents.  I believe he is taking about a high powered rifle used in the earlier incident while he was broadcasting while the .22 was when he was walking to his studio.  This is the first time I've seen a high powered rifle mentioned.

I may have miscommunicated.  I do believe there were two incidents that were reported.

In the first incident, it's suddenly a high-powered rifle.  Just not sure how they were able to determine that, but the neighbors weren't able to get a make and model of the getaway car when according to Art now: when somebody comes to the dead end street directly in from of my Studio house

I am no stalker, but it seems odd that the stalker would change the type of weapon they would use to come back and terrorize Art, who by his own words was not able to determine if it was a shot from .22 caliber rifle or a firecracker.  I am also no fire arms expert, but I know that a .22 is a very very low powered gun, if not the lowest before you get to a BB gun.

Yes.  The reason why we are not developing improved antibiotics is the profit motive rules supreme.  The FDA is partially paid for with drug company money.  I think I watched a FRONTLINE production that mentioned a head of the FDA retiring and working for some drug company.

They like diseases that are long termed, preferably that we have for life, like diabetes and heart problems - and probably HIV nowadays.

I would think someone somewhere is working hard on new antibiotics -- if only because the superbugs will at some point soon be unstoppable and people will pay anything for a drug that could save them.

You can argue with her, but you dont have to get crude to do it.

She's an intelligent woman with some strong opinions. Doesn't deserve ridicule. IMHO.

Oh, I think she gets plenty crude herself...and I was only joking. I'm sure she's a lovely vision of a woman, not unlike Audrey Hepburn  ;)

Our entire rotten filthy government is like that:  corporations and plutocrats pay money into campaign funds so "our representatives" will pass the legislation they want, and then when they leave office (if they ever leave office) they get nice cushy high-paying jobs at the lobbying groups, or the corporations they were supposed to be regulating on our behalf.

We're not even a part of the equation anymore because private money wins elections.

We need to bar civil servants from getting jobs in the fields they're supposed to be regulating, fund campaigns entirely with public money to purge the current private bribe system of elections, and undo the horrible gerrymandering that's keeping psychopaths in lifelong positions of power.

But of course none of that's going to happen because the corrupt weasels would have to vote for it, and they're not going to do that because they're all in like Flynn.  Iirc the approval rating of the legislative branch is in the teen percentiles, and yet the incumbents win over 95% of their re-election campaigns.

The entire system is totally, hopelessly, and irrevocably corrupt at every level.

Yes - they're turned HIV into a "manageable disease" - as long as patients take a lifelong supply of their expensive medications.  Most afflictions could be completely cured with gene therapy, but that research has been "slow walking" for decades because treatments are like mandatory lifetime subscriptions.

My opinion of this whole Stalker thing is that it was designed to scare me (which it did). If somebody had wanted to kill me, I would be dead. No question, when somebody comes to the dead end street directly in from of my Studio house and fired off several high powered Rifle rounds with no holes in the house, it's a scare tactic.

Then a guy is outside my house, then a shot is fired as I get to my gate. Both long stories but again designed (I think) to scare me.

What I could not be sure of and still am not, is would this proceed to something more deadly if I let it play out. The real stopper was Airyn and Asia. Perhaps some of you would have told your Wife no, not me. So as I said in a earlier post if that makes me a pussy, so be it.

Art

If trying to keep the wife and kid safe is being a pussy, then hail pussies!

I'll give you a good example of "slow walking": the artificial pancreas for Type 1 diabetics. It's been very doable for nearly two decades, but is only now in trials.

All that was really missing was the software, basically the algorithm controlling release of insulin. No company funded this work. It took an engineer whose son got the disease to finally write a workable algorithm on his own. Now, companies are starting to put capital into this project.

I do have some comments on Trump. I think now there is a better than even chance he will be the next President. I think most of us have had enough Political correctness. The Economy is always number one, for that he would be good. Beyond that he is tough and there are lots of Natl Security concerns and I guess we have to hope enough adults to keep his finger off the button. I have some respect for how he has handled Fox who shot themselves in the foot with a bigger caliber gun then I used on my foot.

But, but, but, Hoagland says Trump told an 8-year old kid he was Batman, which confirms to Hoagland that Trump thinks he is Batman and is out of control.  Hoagland is a completely rational man and I agree with his assessment.  I am not sure what his assessment is, but I agree with him.

I live in Houston where it's mosquito hell every summer, this would be a major threat for us.  If it continues to spread then they will need to really start spraying earlier to kill them.

And then there's this.

Genetically Modified Mosquitoes Join The Fight To Stop Zika Virus

The company breeds and releases into the wild male mosquitoes that don't produce viable offspring. When females mate with the GMO males, they lay eggs that hatch but the larvae die before adulthood. Oxitec says trials conducted in Brazil and other countries over the past decade show releasing bioengineered male mosquitoes can reduce the wild Aedes aegypti population by 90 percent.

I fear he will continue the trend of growing the disparity between rich and poor rather than growing the economy. What economy? We all know that 95% of manufacturing has gone to China and other bottom of the barrel labor forces. However, what other choice is there? Hilary is untrustworthy and I'm not sure enough people will be willing to vote for Sanders. Hoagland seems to think that Sanders is a Republican wolf in Democratic sheep's clothing. What do you think of him, Art?

You know how the "conspiracy nuts" always joked/worried about Bush or Obama suspending elections to stay in office?  The Trump phenomenon is the only thing in my memory that I believe would make them attempt to do so.  He is such an anomaly of sorts, a guy with wealth and an inherent celebrity status that allows him to short circuit the established system.

The media historically has had a large role in controlling the narrative and steering people towards the selection of the next President, but now not so much... I love every minute of it, Art.

They are panicking right now because 2016 was supposed to be Jeb vs Hillary... two wings of the same bird.

yeah  he's definitely     controlling the NEWS cycle day in and day out
and if he can continues to do this which i think he will,  he has it in the bag    what is also going for him is that he has established that what he says he means  and when he says he'll do something he does

I think your political instincts regarding Trump and the state of the electorate are good. But as for the Button (note the cap B which I assign here), he fails my Cuban Missile Crisis test as I explained in the Donald Trump thread. I don't have faith that there will be enough adults present, with enough offsetting power, to save the world if and when President Trump goes off the reservation.

On another subject, you can't mentor a sense of humor, particularly a self-deprecating sense of humor.  You've got one and certain other people don't. That's all I'll say here.

But, that's the point.  He is really NOT doing anything to stop it.  'Anything' would be to file police reports and to insist on police following up, calling them regularly for results, also hiring a PI firm.  Gosh, it's almost like Art no longer wanted to do a five day show, isn't it?

Well, we don't really know  exactly what's happening now do we? I'm not Art Bell and neither are you. Neither of us live in his house nor do we know WTF is going on. Sometimes you don't know what you don't know and it's as simple as that. You can speculate all you want.  I'm just saying that if someone threatened my family and told me not to go into work I would probably stay at home.

Art,

Have you ever seen this website that matches up your views with the candidates stated positions?

I come up Cruz/Carson/Trump as my top 3, but I think Trump has the best chance of winning.

Lol, I blame Obama for all the foot shooting, and this rush he's caused on high caliber guns.

I think Trump has a good shot at getting elected too. It's becoming obvious that folks definitely don't want a business-as-usual candidate. He might even pick up a fair amount of democratic support because of that. He'll pick up a lot of the independent vote as well of course.

The loose cannon thing with Trump I think is to a great extent for show. He's a businessman and a skilled and obviously successful negotiator. He's a different person in the board room. I think someone like Putin would have a lot more respect for someone like Trump in the oval office than any of the establishment candidate clowns in either party. It would definitely not be business as usual, and it might be the last hope of turning this socialist boat around.
