It’s not good to speak ill of the dead, or so the saying goes. Though; the more of Art’s personal life that comes out, the more one begins to wonder who he really was. Hero worship is a funny thing. For those who elevate “celebrities” to godlike status, it can be quite devastating to find out they have feet of clay. In the end, we’re all human, and fallible. Seems some more than others.

Hi all! Its been awhile since I last posted on the forum; been visting though. Great job on the Gabcast! MV, I mean Liberace did an excellent job as usual. Also, nice to hear from Vincent. Takes courage to talk about personal stuff. 👍

Feel the enthusiasm

There is absolutely no shame left in the MITD braintrust. One embarrassment to the next, doesn't seem to phase them at all. I almost feel embarrassed listening to this.

Heather talking Dark Web?  I'll try to be awake.

I think you'll fall asleep pretty quick. 😂

I cannot believe she gave 4.5 hours of airtime this week to this shister , the guests have really went downhill since the new producer took over .

MV was right , for all the shit she gave GN she is being dishonest now with the mic .

I would really like to know who chose the recent path of the show .

You can't blame everything on the new producer. Heather is the one behind the mic. It's clear she lacks the skills, common knowledge, or sophistication to host a radio show. No ands, ifs or buts.

Dollar type of stores you fan find the "old" double-sided blades cheap (China) but cheap enough to change frequently. Oddly I bought some fairly cheap (like $4 for ten) when I was out n noticed made in Isreal? Main thing, esp if using a 'newer' shaver that is plastic: ensure blade set and when you screw down properly set. I'm still using a plastif one bought decades ago. All good. I also release tension after and use blades for weeks or more but not sensitive (im talking face here now.)

There's no substitute for quality. For DE safety razors there are Mercur (German), and Edwin Jagger (England). Both are very good razors. I've used Edwin Jagger, and they're great.

For blades there are many brands. Three I'm familiar with are: Derby, Feather, and Astra Platinum. I've used Derby ,and the Astra Platinum. I prefer the Astra Platinums.

I really hate shaving. I have sensitive skin I guess because I usually can't get through a shave without a nick or two. I suppose choice of razor and shaving cream can make some difference but if I could take a pill that would stop the growth of my facial hair and had no side effects and left me unchanged in every other way I would. So, I thought I'd open this thread to all who want to bitch and/or share suggestions for products and techniques. This includes you too, ladies.  ;)

Right now I've been using this stuff from Italy called Proraso. It's a little pricey but really slicks your face up. I find it's helping reduce the amount of nicks.

I use Proraso products too, they're great; I have sensitive skin too. I'm going to assume you're NOT using a straight edge "cut throat" razor. You should use a double edge safety razor. It uses a simple razor blade; one side goes dull, you still got the other one. Please stay away from those razors that have 5 blades; just marketing from big companies, why do people let themselves get talked into buying $30 blades? Also, they're way too tough on sensitive skin.

I'd suggest you also use a pre shave lotion before you actually use your shaving cream. Proraso's is very good; it has the consistency of a shave cream, it really helps to soften the whiskers, and condition the skin. You should rinse your face with warm/semi hot water before you use the pre shave lotion. This will also help open the pores, and soften the whiskers.

When you shave, glide the razor in the direction that the whiskers grow "with the grain". DO NOT shave "against the grain", this guarantees you'll irritate sensitive skin.

After you removed the last of the shaving cream with your razor, I'd suggest rinsing your face with cool/cold water. This will close the pores, also helps lessen any irritation.

To finish use an after shave balm, or after shave lotion. If you find that after shave lotion "burns" too much, you can dilute it with some water. Also, try to find one with a lower alcohol content.

Hope this helps you.  :)

Art, many people in Canada are very afraid of Trump.  Can you offer your opinion here?
The fear centres mainly on Trump's views of climate change.

Hi gabrielle! I'm one Canadian who doesn't fear Trump. This whole demonizing of the man, is way overblown. He won the election fair and square, yet these protesters have an issue with this. Really? They need to put on their big boy/big girl pants and get back to school/work.

As for the climate change thing, I think its a bit overblown too. Same old trick: get people scared, they're easier to control. Learn to see through these charades.

There was no ill will intended, as I mentioned I check in here every now and then to take the temperature and see if I can have a conversation with anybody but I read the page and it did not look promising so I will check back and if I am not being bashed I will engage with anybody who will have a decent thing to say. Not wanting to give up on Bell Gab as I said Months ago.

Art

Nice that you dropped by Art. I would agree some people go a bit overboard with the comments on your personal life. That's some people, not everyone. I respect the fact that you're retired; I wish you well in that. Though, I would ask that you not tease people by suggesting/implying etc that you'll return to radio. That's not right; please don't do that anymore. That's my two cents, for what its worth.

Speaking of which, I believe (but am not entirely certain) that I've seen a few fleeting references to Heather being on some sort of "hiatus" earlier in the year.

Just out of curiosity, how long was she gone for?

She went to Hogwarts for a week.

I got the ok from MV to post this link to my recording of the show, here in the GabCast thread.  Enjoy this recording of  MV talking with Japhy Ryder on Pirate Radio. There is one dead air segment at about 13:00, I think someones mic might have been muted or something, but it's not a long dead air segment.  I have not edited it at all from how it streamed over the air.

Thank you for posting this brig! The YouTube video's sound was all choppy; seems the video was removed. Maybe, they'll upload it again?

are you suggesting that Art give her herpes or some other STD

Not suggesting anything, only saying one should practice safe sex.  ;D

Wow Heather is truly a complicated woman.

I will use these clues to seduce her.

I need details on this guy she was chasing so I can copy his methods.

Don't forget to use a condom!  ;D

John B Wells was the guy who came the closest imo

I don't see this show brought up much on here but The Higherside Chats by Greg Carlwood is excellent.

Not a bunch of hooplah, just a good interview by someone who is truly interested.

I agree. I enjoy this show too, Greg really seems interested in the topics his guests are presenting.

Probably the 2 members and 12 guests viewing this topic.  ;D

Just in case anyone cares, tonight's guest: http://midnightinthedesert.com/

Apparently, she charges her"clients" to show them how to contact their spirit guides:
http://www.candaceltalmadge.com/how-to-contact-spirit-guides.html

I guess MITD isn't too worried about vetting guests anymore. Looks like they're raiding the tier 3 "talent" pool now.

I won't be tuning in for this one, didn't tune in for last night's turd fest either. Sad, sad, sad. Oh well, life marches on.

I actually listened when Steph Young was on the last time. She was doing David Paulides' thing about people missing in the national parks and she referenced some of his cases but never mentioned his name. When a caller asked her about Paulides she claimed to never have heard of him.

I remember that. If she's really serious about not knowing who David Paulides is, I'd have to question her "research" in the missing persons realm. I also remember how people thought she had a sexy voice. They wanted Heather to shut up, and just let her talk.  ;D
