After publicly shaming myself by admitting I have no idea what Hoagie's 19.5 bullshit is about I decided it was time to have a gander at his writings.  Used for less than $5 shipped on Abe Books.

Anyone want to guess how many times he wrote torsion field? :D

Richard's interviewing Nick Redfern tonight. His recent interview with Bateman was creepy as all get out, so this should be good.

Oh yeah. Expect more on Jack Parson's tonight from our guest Nick Redfern on tonight's Other Side.

I must admit to liking this show. It is amazing that Norry fires RCH from being the science adviser and weeks later RCH is making a show that is FAR more entertaining and is doing a better job as a radio host, than someone who has a degree in communications and decade+ experience hosting a show. Remarkable. And the tech problems and background noise add to the fun and RCH knows how to "roll with the punches."

I've been enjoying the show except when Richard gets on his fave platform of structures on other planets.  Since I'm a non-believer, that topic bores me.  Much ado about something that there is a less than a 1% chance is really a "structure" of any kind, imo.  (Sorry, Richard).  When not covering his fave topic, Richard has turned out to be an enthusiastic and questing radio host with an impressive vocabulary.  The show has kept me up beyond my bed-time several times, requiring double my usual caffeine amount to get through the next day.  Seriously thinking I will have to subscribe so that I don't miss out on creepy-cool stuff like severed torsos falling from the sky.

I agree entirely with this and Faustina's statements. While I lose interest when the Mars stuff comes up--I can only take so much as a complete skeptic on the matter--everything else is really good. Hoagland's interviewing style is thoughtful, informed and engaged. There's good variety in the guests. And there's humor; Richard's been answering the telethon phone lately and both times there wasn't anyone there. Ha.

Yes, it is refreshing. He can laugh at himself and have fun with the show brraaap, answering the telethon phone etc. That actually inspired my post. I recalled how Norry always goes on about the phone company or jumps on his producers when there are phone problems of any kind. Or odd passive-aggressive comments towards staff or even callers. Obviously Art knows how to handle things- but I expect that due to his experience. Very surprised how RCH is SO much better than Norry and having his own show: knows how to fill empty space, interact with callers, make light of tech mistakes (and even his own theories at times,) pronounce things, etc. C2C is pretty much only for LMH or if there is a certain particular guest (or when mowing the lawn for background noise.)

RCH also seems to do show prep because he's always prepared for the interview and adds something to it whereas Dave just sleepily phones it in.

My latest RCH photoshop creation!

One of these guys has a vaguely Rick Springfieldish look if he were more bad-ass.

I was glad to hear the phone back in last night's show.  However, I regret to inform the producer that it was the wrong phone.  The ring in last night's show was muted and digital-of-origin sounding:  not that strident, old-school telethon sort of ring as the original phone was.  Please bring back the original phone ring.  Thank you.

Maybe he got a new one? That would be unfortunate.  We can only know if Richard posts himself on periscope, or invites us over.  ;)  ;D

Question: How does Nick Redfern manage to keep his black country accent after living in the US for the last 15 years...

I wouldn't be able to handle it. Hoagland in a smoking jacket among the many papers.

Is that Keith doing that promo?  Dreamy music and soft voice. Sounds like he is trying to seduce me.

sydtron

Hogie wearing a smoking jacket. Pipe in mouth. Stroking a hairless cat.
