Yeah, that sentiment seems to be echoed in other cities. They need to watch their message if they want to be listened to. Also, the violence. Pure anger is not the message they should be trying to send.

The earlier protests and yesterday's did not seem focused on local issues, just Trump. I'm sure that anyone with a grievance or a cause will try to attach themselves to the Trump protests. The thing that was always kind of nuts about these big protests and rallies is that people would go to protest one, maybe two things and start hearing speeches from every anti-this or pro-that organization in existence. "Yeah, right, okay, whatever, I'll be against it...sorry, for it."

But that's part of the problem.  Now you have anarchists protesting with BLM protesting with a group who wants to meet  with the city for rent controls and some people who want Trump to tell them what they want to hear.

This is turning into an "occupy" movement where nobody really knows what they want or why others are in the street, but they are joining.

I also notice that theONE's post references the same Greg McKelvey...  What if you threw a protest against Trump, but it really had nothing to do with him?  Kind of brilliant to harness all of the Trump detractors to protest for your cause.

Well, if this is what happens elsewhere, not just in Portland, it may just turn into a huge dysfunctional mess which gets nobody anywhere. In a sense, it's all premature since Trump hasn't taken office or taken any official action yet, so it's a predictive protest rather than a reactive one. 

OTOH, depending on how Trump reacts (and he has already started to do that), these protests may just provoke him into displaying how he will respond to opposition once he takes office. Maybe that's part of what this is about.

I see some of the Trump supporters on TV saying that the protesters are somehow contesting the election by expressing their dissatisfaction with the results. That may seem logical but that's not what their complaint is.

What they are asking for is Trump to disavow the campaign rhetoric which was threatening to certain groups of Americans and make clear what he believes in and doesn't believe in. I don't think they expect a touchy-feely speech, but they need more assurance than the brief remarks he's made since Tuesday.

Isn't it incredible where the psychology of the left really is? I've been watching bizarre paranoid delusional temper tantrums akin to pre-schoolers on social media from people in their 40s and 50s I've known for years. It's shocking that people were uninformed and dependent on the media to begin with.
